Nepthym couldn't trust this man with her name, she thought. Not that she was concerned about keeping her identity much, right now.

"Although you can probably handle yourself well enough, from what I have seen so far. Your manners are less similar to that of a rich lady and more like that of a soldier. My name is Mordekhai Sarvedon, pleased to meet you."

"Well, maybe I'm both, what do you know..." She said, with a near undetectable hint of sarcasm. "Call me Jacelyna."

"Well, maybe I'm both, what do you know..." She said, with a near undetectable hint of sarcasm. "Call me Jacelyna."

"Pleased to meet you, Jacelyna. And I meant that as a compliment, since even if the soldiers may lack politesse in some cases, they have a heart to call their own, while the rich usually overflow with shallow good manners and have no heart." he answered. "And yet I'm working for the rich, ahaha. I guess at least that allows me to get my daily bread." he completed, tapping one of the leather pouches near his thigh which contained loaves of bread and a waterskin.

Mordekhai had a feeling in the back of his skulls that he already seen Jacelyna before in the ship. He was a guard and had long shifts, and it wasn't difficult to memorize the name of some people. He smiled internally a bit.

This girl was too different from the image he had from the woman, but she probably had her reasons to lie.

Aegnor watched the door melt, then the two others leave the cell. Realising that no-matter what, things are going to happen, he sighs, and exits the cell, deciding to follow the duo, considering that staying in the cell will provide no good for the future. He checks his alchemy kit, to see just how much more acid he has.
Check alchemy kit inventory, follow the other two.

Speaking up once both of the duo have spoke. "Um. The name's Aegnor, just in case either of you had to know. For now, lets just find out whats going on."

Zealots and Demons, Turn 8:  TIKAN AND NEPTHYM SMASH!

Quote from: Dwarmin
Action: Escape!

[6] You step out and see a guard in front of you.  HE WILL NOT HINDER YOUR ESCAPE!  [5] [(5+1)x2=12 damage]  You run up to him jumping on his shoulders and stabbing your dagger through his eyes, killing him, before he can even react.  "The guilty will know agony." you think... some how you know you weren't going to be able to walk by him anyhow.  Or perhaps that self-righteous part of your soul had judged him guilty, you aren't really sure.

Quote from: lawastooshort
Suggest to the Draconian that we, together, use whatever we have to try to force the lock. Then try to force the lock, quietly if possible. Keep my knife ready but concealed if possible.

[1]  You try to force your knife into the lock but it is too small.  In frustration you kick the door. [5]  You break the hinges of the door and force it open.  You somehow can't help but think, "TIKAN SMASH!"  [4]  You look just in time to see one of the other people that got captured with you stab her own dagger through the eyes of a guard.  "Good job, I was able to hear he was conspiring with pirates." you say informing the others of the situation as best you know.

Quote from: CrimsonEon
Forget examining, bust out my toolkit and start cracking!

[auto-fail]  Well.... that was unexpected.

Quote from: Caellath
Question the Marshall.

[auto-fail]  Well.... that was unexpected.

Quote from: Ochita
Check alchemy kit inventory, follow the other two.

[5] Your alchemy kit is absurdly well stocked.  Though that was the only real acid you had in there, you probably have enough to make some more, if you had the time.  [5] You follow the other two out and watch the guard get murdered before he can even react.  You mentally note not to piss that woman off.  You then hear the guard was with some pirates that were trying to take over the ship. . . so she did a good thing?

Agony

Nepthym wasn't quite cognizant of her previous action-she knew she had done it, and that some part of her chose to do it. But all the same, it felt like someone else driving the knife. She knew the feeling...it was a boon in battle, allowing you to strike mercilessly, with no hesitation-the soldiers art. She could also feel a kindly father patting her on the shoulder...for her good dead.

The 'Blessing' her kind enjoyed? It was not a good thing. Free Will, it seemed, was not so popular with the Gods on high. The Chains of the Gods were not so easily slipped.

If anyone had, at that moment, chanced to look upon her-they might have been a bit disturbed. The whites of her eyes had momentarily vanish. Replaced with a divine, electric blue light. Not quite Human.

....

She had to keep moving. Go, go. Worry about the dead guard later...if there was a later.

Quote from: lawastooshort
"Good job, I was able to hear he was conspiring with pirates." you say informing the others of the situation as best you know.

Oh, that makes everything easy, doesn't it? She shook her head. Nepthym doubted the others would miss the fact she had killed the guard before this redeeming little nugget of information.

She addressed the others.

"Listen, everyone. This ship is about to come under attack-by pirates, or other forces. Our mission is to repel them if possible, protect the innocent and if all else fails, scuttle the vessel to keep it out of enemy hands, and make our escape on foot. You don't have a choice here-there's no way off this ship, unless we go through them or take it down.

Trust me, if they don't kill you, you'll wish they had.

And, if any of you are not going to help, feel free to go back and wait, or find a place to hide-but, personally, I'd rather not wait in a crate for someone to put me out of my misery."
She said, with a bit of self irony. A warm crate was sounding like a good idea about now...but, Nepthym had an inclination, what capture would mean for her-more chains. So she wouldn't let that to come to pass...not without a fight.

She then knelt down and began going through the deceased Guards possessions. Nepthym didn't feel any remorse, at the act. She felt nothing at all.

Action: Search the dead guard for loot

Tikan saw the... human? - she looked mostly like one - bend down to rifle through her victim's belongings. She wondered if the others around her would feel a little distaste at the sudden violence but Tikan knew that the young woman had just done what needed to be done. Something about her felt strange, but she clearly knew how to handle herself. Tikan spoke up.

"I... am not familiar with this kind of vessel, I'm not sure where we should go, but I would suggest there where it is steered? Now," turning to Nepthym, "When you're finished we should drag his body behind our door and get going. We should not linger. And you - " she finished, turning to the one in imposing armour, "You are with the ship's crew, no? I will swear that what I believe I heard is true. I think you need to decide on a course of action."

After speaking to the others, search the immediate vicinity (corridor of cells?) for the way out and examine the door and listen to behind it, knife at the ready but prioritising stealthiness.

Before Shruick could even preapare his first attempt at the lock, Tikan immediately jams her knife into the lock. The lock dosen't budge. Shruick surpressed a small laugh as Tikan turned away from the door, "I think this lock is a little more sophisticated than-"

No time to finish that sentence, Tikan made a small run into the door, raising her foot to kick it square in the center. The door raises off it's hinges and falls over into the hallway.

He stands shocked as Tikan moves out into the hallway. Dammit, I would have preferred to defeat that lock the right way...

Shruick almost exits the cell, but a quiet rustle stops him. He turns around to see Minuet and Raleigh still sitting on the other wall, both of them somewhat shocked at the sudden detachment of the door.

Shruick definitely didn't like the idea of forcing them along, they'd probably be better off hiding until the entire situation blows over. But maybe there's a chance one of them knows the layout of the ship. Shruick turns to ask Raleigh and Minuet if they know how to get to the bridge from here

"Raleigh, Minuet, It's probably best that you two stay hidden here." Shruick began, "But if there's any way to get a handle on the situation, we're probably going to have to take this to the ship's bridge. Any chance you know how to get there?"

"Aye. Neither of us are warriors, but I'll keep an eye on her," Raleigh agreed, putting a hand on Minuet's shoulder. [3] "The bridge? Not from the brig, no. Never had the misfortune to get slung down here, but it should be easy enough to find. It's near the back of the ship, sits about one or two stories above the rest. Just make your way aft and up, although I'm sure it won't be easy to get to."

Minuet looked up. "You guys be careful, OK?"

Aegnor nodded to himself. His alchemy pack was well supplied. He was glad that he decided to buy wholesale at that last alchemist. At the very least he could make more acid.. Snapping out of his concentration slightly, he overheard that there were pirates on this ship.

"Wait, Pirates? Thats.. Worrying. We should get to the bridge." Inside, Aegnor was not as nearly as composed, stringing a long chain of worry words, and general prayers. Deciding that he would really rather not go off on his own, he decides to stick with the others, giving the woman who is now scavenging though the corpse a slightly unnerved look.

Shruick made a curt nod to Minuet, hopefully they'll be safe while this is sorted out. He stands and turns to walk out of the hallway, stopping briefly to notice the voices outside.

He walks out into the hallway, seeing the group outside, including another odd human woman searching a dead man. Shruick is both perplexed and shocked, only managing to say in a bland tone; "Now what in the hell is going on here."

A quick assesment of the others, Tikan was unharmed, so they're not hostile. He believes he's seen the man in the hulking armor elsewhere on the ship, a guard no doubt, was he the one who spoke from behind the door? Not likely, it may have been the man now festering on the floor, perhaps he tried to stop them. The odd woman now searching the dead man's body seems rather focused, he thinks he may have seen her just before they were taken to the brig. Shruick may have seen the elven man in the lounge just a few moment prior, he seems amiable enough. Looking along the corridor he notices one of the cell doorways completely open, with melted residue of what may have been a door occupying the top of the doorway, did these people also escape?

Shruick definitely was not going to get to the bridge alone, and it seemed that these people were also escapees. Good enough, he supposed. Shruick starts to share what Raleigh just told him, and help Tikan in her search

"Other escape artists I suppose? I guess you must have heard about the pirates too, then." Shruick began, "Then we should get to the bottom of this. The bridge is on the ship's aft, a few decks above the rest. Pirates or no, that's where we need to go for answers." Shruick turned more towards Tikan, "Ah, and I've failed to introduce myself. My name's Shruick Kasslain, wayward engineer turned luxury ship janitor."

Mordekhai watched as the little and odd woman leaped onto the guard and killed him with a single attack, being subsequently congratulated by the woman who left the neighbouring cell.

The crusader knew or felt that the killer hadn't had access to that piece of information. She had killed out of reflex, instinct or something close to these, something more feral, as if thinking the Marshall was a threat to her freedom.

He couldn't quite blame her, but at the same time Mordekhai felt something really wrong, as if she had, as suspected, gone through things no one should have gone through. Even young, he had also tasted combat a few times, fighting during these nights where the darkness got thicker with the blood of the guilty and innocent alike. He knew how utterly cruel reality was.

The young man believed his mentor's teachings would do her good. Father Veke had solid beliefs about what to fight for. The old man had fought countless wars and found in none a true reason to live. Until he discovered one, and imparted the knowledge upon Mordekhai as well.

Maybe she could use a helping hand...

"You are with the ship's crew, no? I will swear that what I believe I heard is true. I think you need to decide on a course of action."
"We should search the bridge...but I don't think leaving them alone is a good idea. Coming back only to find this place was attacked...Wouldn't they be safer with us?" he said while gesturing towards Minuet and Raleigh.

He then approached both.

"Are you sure you want to stay here? If this place is attacked and no one is here to protect you...I'd rather have someone stay here and guard you or maybe have both of you come with us."

Mordekhai was feeling like dragging them along...but they had their free will.

If they want to stay, then search for appropriate defensive measures for both. If they follow, then help rummaging through the Marshall's body.

Raleigh shook his head, meaning he thought the both of them would be much safer down here. "Just let us find a secure cell, lad, and leave the keys in here with us. I don't think anyone will come down here, and if they do, we should be safe behind bars. I doubt pirates will think much of two prisoners, especially since we're just waitstaff."

Nepthym glanced back at Raleigh.

"Secure is a bit of an overstatement in these cells. I was about to crack one of the locks with my knife...but I suppose if you're quiet, they might ignore you for awhile. You are right-no one will bother to loot the brig right off. They'll go for the living and entertainment areas first, then the bridge and armories, and then cargo..."
