"Well, why don't a couple of us make discrete enquiries down at the docks whilst the others scout out the tower and make a plan?"

"It can work, but I was worried we could end up with the group split once again and have people once more chasing or fighting one of the groups to make things harder. Let's wait Aegnor's opinion as well, then."

Mordekhai then takes a cloth and starts to clean both armor and flail, trying to get any remains of blood and brains out of the polished metal.

Aegnor closed his eyes, and sighed.
"I don't know. I think that the tower idea is at least plausible and then again so is the airship idea... I want to at least see why a diary is so important, but at the same time it would be reckless to charge off to do my own thing.."

Aegnor shook his head, showing that he can't make a decision.

"We split off in the same groups once again then." Mordekhai says with a shrug. "You try to find a way into the tower while I move to the docks with Akari and Tikan."

He stares at the door as if trying to peek outside, scratching his chin - damn, he's not used to facial hair - before shifting his gaze back to Aegnor. "If we don't find anything that may lead us to Maria there, then we join up and go with the tower plan."

Tikan grabs a handful of peanuts and starts munching.

"Hmm... Anyone got a drink? Mordekhai, I have a very sharp blade if you're itching too much? Otherwise, shall we go?"

"Not itching, just not used to finding hair instead of skin when I scratch my chin." the crusader answers. "And we'll let Aegnor talk to Fleur first while waiting for Akari to finish what she's doing."

Sareesa, Age 13

After breakfast, Sareesa went outside.  It was dark and the ground was still wet with dew.  A part of Sareesa wanted to go back in and go to sleep, but it was no option today.  It was the day she became a woman of her tribe.  Sareesa went towards the center of the village.  Everything was already prepared for the morning performance, all that remained was to prepare herself.  "Reesa, ovah here." her father called from inside the elder's house.  She ran over quickly, adrenaline running through her system as everything became more real to her.

"Good, good, ya remembered what I told ya.  Now 'den, hold still while we do yah hair and face." he said.  There were several other Trolls there all of them helping prepare everything.  Most years two or three people were accepted into the tribe, this year only Sareesa would be coming of age though.  Her father worked gently with the face paint, gently applying a base layer of white to the human's already pale face while several women from the village worked at combing, braiding, and arranging her hair.

Sareesa sat still, though her heart thundered in her chest.  A part of her desperately wanted to get up, to move, to do anything but that hardest of all tasks, to sit and wait.  Breathing deep, she closed her eyes as her father's hands applied the paint gently over them.  After the layer of white was applied three strips of dark red were painted, one down the center, the others over her eyes again.  As her father finished the trolls behind her finished twisting her hair up into a compact, but stylish, knot.

Sareesa tried to picture herself, she must have looked so different from Larsa, the hero she was meant to look like, but the paint and the hair, it must have been at least a little similar... she hoped.  "'Dere we go, yah be all done now, yah just got ta get dressed, and wait until we be ready.  I want ya to know, we be proud of ya, we all do, we wouldn't be makin' ya part of 'da tribe if we not be." he said patting her on the shoulder as he left, leaving Sareesa with the other women to get dressed.

Sareesa stripped out of her clothes and put on the rest of the costume.  As the other women began to leave, Sareesa truly felt like she had all the courage of her predecessor.  She sat on the floor with her back to the wall, mind racing, trying to make sure she remembered everything that was supposed to.  She suddenly became aware of how silent it had become, all the ambient noise had faded away.  She didn't have long to dwell on it though as she heard a scream from outside.

Rushing outside, she immediately saw the cause of all the silence, and now all the noise as many of the people ran away.  A Giant Crystal Spider had obviously wandered far outside it's home in the Crystal Forest and was now running through the main street of the village.  She stared at it's eight crystalline eyes, and it looked back, stopping momentarily.  It was decided... Sareesa would either defend the village here, or die trying; there was no way to escape after a monster like that set it's eyes on you anyhow.

The Spider took a couple of steps forward then retreated as Sareesa unflinchingly turned to face it.  The spider seemed to shift nervously, ultimately though it slowly advanced again.  Fear raced through Sareesa's mind, then she felt white-hot energy in her hand, glancing down she saw her hand was. . . glowing, fiercely.  She extender her hand towards the Giant Crystal Spider and focused on forcing the monster to stop.  Suddenly a wave of force knocked the spider away and Sareesa onto the ground.  She got up again, coughing, blood forming at the corners of her mouth.  Whatever she had done it packed quite a kick.  She looked towards the spider, it seemed dazed, but angry at the defiant girl.  this time it moved much quicker towards it's prey.  Sareesa raised her still glowing hand again and focused again on stopping the spider.  The same wave of force knocked the spider away and Sareesa to the ground again.  She coughed and knelt on the ground looking up.  The spider seemed undamaged, she was already feeling like she had been beat up though.  "I... I need ta do bettah 'dan 'dis." she muttered to herself trying to think of something as got on her feet again.

The spider circled around from the other side, Sareesa turning to face it the entire time, trying to think of something other way to stop this creature.  Ultimately, it pounced towards her, and her mind became filled with fear, no other thoughts but fear.  A bolt of white-hot lightning shot of Sareesa's hand hitting the spider in the underbelly and holding it aloft there for three seconds while Sareesa watched in horror, both at the spider and at herself.  Her clothing and hair started to smolder, and she could feel her own skin growing hot.  After those three long seconds of stasis, the spider exploded from the underbelly, tough crystals being sprayed all around.  Sareesa knelt on the ground, she felt completely expended of all energy, beat-up, and terrified of her own power.  She looked around, she was lucky none of the crystal's had hit her.  She flipped over onto her back and looked at the azure sky.

After a few moments some of the Trolls approached, in awe of what they had just seen.  A small, unarmed, thirteen year old girl just took down an abomination that usually was hunted down by groups of five warriors.  Sareesa wanted to stay awake, to explain she had no idea what had happened, but she couldn't, she was too tired and passed out laying there.

A few seconds after she passed out a large cheer rose throughout the entire village, a hero had been born on that day.

((A small note about this, I'm absolutely ecstatic you all are taking the choices you make so seriously.  It is a great feeling, as the designer of the game, as one of it's GM (and I'm sure SC would agree as well), and just on a personal level as a lover of role-play and story.  I'm blessed to have as many good role-players as I do.  Thank you so very much for joining my game, and I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do.))

"I can read on the way," Akari said, "I'm ready, don't wait on me."

((I have an action waaaaaay back on reading that tome.))

(So, just to check: final plan is M/T/A head to airship dock, and A/K/F head to the watchtower? I just want one member of both teams to confirm that before I go ahead with it.)

The Day After the Confrontation with the Giant Crystal Spider

Sareesa woke up with a start, she remembered fighting a Crystal Spider but not what had happened.  She sat up and looked around and immediately knew something was wrong.  Her skin felt all slimy... but burned.  She felt her hair, someone had cut off three inches of it.  Most telling of all was how her abdomen felt like somebody had spent the last twelve hours stepping all over her.  She laid back down and groaned.  "What happened?  Where am I?" she asked, not neccesarily expecting a response, but getting one anyhow.

"'Ey 'dere, take it easy.  Ya been through quite a lot." She recognized the voice, she was in the home, or at least she assumed the home, of one of the village elders, the herb collector and potion brewer.  "Now 'den, everybody be wantin' ta know, how did ya manage ta kill 'dat spider last morning?'

Sareesa grimaced, not able to remember much of what happened.  "I t'ink 'dat it had somethin' ta do with my magic.  I not really be sure though.  Ta be honest, I don't remember much of what happened." Sareesa admitted pausing for a bit as her stomach let out a loud rumble.  Suddenly, she became aware of how hungry she was."I hate ta be intrudin' on yah kindness, but I be feelin' real hungry."

"Of course, I go get ya somet'ing, don't strain yahself gettin' up though." the elder cautioned as he walked into another room.  Sareesa looked to the end table at her side and saw a fang from the Crystal Spider laying there, on the side of it was written, "You did good Reesa."  She turned her attention back to her own body and tried to turn herself around and get more comfortable, but it seemed hopeless, she just couldn't get comfortable with all this slime and goo coating her body.  She felt up and down her body, and was relieved to find she was still wearing her undergarments.  Her dignity preserved, she waited for the elder to reappear.

Before long, he did, with a light broth with some chicken and potatoes mixed it.  "'Dere ya go.  Eat it slow, ya been through a lot, no shame in takin' it easy for a while."  Sareesa nodded, slowly eating her soup.

"I got ta ask, why am I covered in 'dis slime?" Sareesa asked during a natural lull in her eating.

"Well, when we got close enough to take a look at ya, ya had burns all over yah body, not to mention 'da bruising.  'Dat 'slime' be a mixture of salves 'dat be healin' 'da burns and bruises, an' hopefully easin' yah pain."

"I don't remember ever being touched.  I remember... fightin', 'den my hand started ta glow, 'den nothing.

"It been a long time since I had anyt'ing ta do with a witch.  If I had ta guess though, I t'ink ya were drawin' more power 'dan ya could handle.  If ya want ta learn more about ya magic, ya going ta need ta test yahself.  Once ya be learnin' ya limits, 'den ya be able ta help people, an' hopefully not be hurtin' yahself in da process." the old troll said laughing lightly though towards the end he broke into a cough anyhow.

"Yeah, I might not be lucky next time." Sareesa mused, thinking back to the other times she was able to control her magic.  They were few and far between, mostly it came and went as her emotions ebbed and flowed.  There were times she had been able to actually control it though.  Sareesa finished eating in silence thinking before excusing herself, flopping over onto her stomach and falling asleep again.  "At least when I be sleepin', t'ings always be much simpler."

Zealots and Demons, Turn 70:  Return of the Mob!

Go to Airship Dock

[5]  You get to the Airship Dock without much hassle, it is evident straight away however that any hope of finding Maria hanging around is gone.  Nobody, absolutely nobody is around, and it makes sense because the whole tower has crystalized.  [5]  You begin shifting around through some of the junk just laying around the outside of the dock, and you realize not all hope is lost, some of this stuff is from the last couple of days.  Maybe you could find something in all the rubble strewn about to help your quest.  Where to start when nothing has been cleaned for weeks if not months though.

[5]  Akari off in her own world starts reading the book.  While it is an interesting read, you feel directionless searching can't tell you much more about it.  After all, given the subject matter, you doubt it is something that one can learn from just by reading, but rather there must be some aspect of doing involved.  You do remembering most of the summoning rituals requiring reagents though.

[4] [3 healed] Aegnor quickly healed the wounded woman before running off with Fleur and Kael.  [1]  You start to leave but before you exit you see some of the locked-up mob has escaped, and is apparently still on the lookout for Kael.  "Ahhh, those imbeciles, do zey not know when to quit?  I scarcely 'ave ze time to deal with 'zem again." Fleur mutters, bemoaning her present circumstances.

[4] Thankfully, the mob doesn't seem to be interesting in checking out the bar at this moment.

((Yeah that's right, you're stuck with me again.  *crosses arms*  Deal with it.  Anyhow, I just got the format done now I have to go find all your posts slowly put them in then run the turn actually.  Sooooo, check back in a couple hours, it should be done then with turn title and everything.  Oh yeah, and I'm going to change how enchantment works, but I'll tell you more about that later, because again, I can write it up in detail after I run the turn and right now I just want to get on my other computer to finish writing this up.  So yeah, see you all in a couple of hours.))

Edit:  ((I finished up the turn, most of y'all didn't post specific actions, I would advise you get back into the habit because I count on those to tell me when everyone has posted an action so I can roll the turn but after all that conversation I suppose a consensus had to be reached somewhere.  Anyhow, I just sort of forced you all into the consensus action.))

"Well, let's search around the rubble. Maria must have used a dinghy to get here, but it still had to land around here somewhere...Let's just hope we find a trail." Mordekhai mutters, walking around the rubble.

Search around the rubble for anything of interest. Any indication a ship landed recently around here and any personal objects that may have been dropped.
