"I... the..."

Tikan looked at Akari.

"Hmm, well, ok... I prefer pragmatist to cutthroat though... But really, the only way we can do this honestly is... well, to deceive them and sneak in. Otherwise we will be killing or corrupting men who for all we know are good honest family men. Or if we had the gold I guess we could try corrupting them, and if they accept then they must be corrupt. In which case we could... be pragmatic?"

((er, not sure, SC. Not having enough time to go back and check, I guess? :) ))

(We haven't reached a decision about enchantment yet. And I totally forgot about your dog whistle, I'll add it to your inventory in my notes and it'll be there starting next turn.)

((If you're doing that, can you add the Nepthyms Tattered White Crows Banner to Mordekhais inventory? He did inherit it after she died, for better or worse.

@Norrec: You never know when a dog whistle might save your life. :P))

"Smoke and a point of view from a far location tells of a fire. If those guards will...hmm. How did I sound when I was crying for help?"

Aegnor nodded when Mordekhai asked him to heal Akari, it looked like she had some minor bruising, and a bit of a cut. Preparing himself for casting the healing spell, he spluttered as Akari asked why he wasn't reddish.

"What..? What kind of bar did you go to Mordekhai..? ...Nevermind, I don't really want to know."

Aegnor healed Akari, and then sat down with the rest of them.
"If anything, I think we should do this. While this god of knowledge is taking an interest in us, I don't think its malevolent or benevolent. Still, if anything is to go by, refusing will just make us lose our only lead. Still, if someone asks if you know the whisperers, then stay a while and listen to them. If you can trade information for things that will help us, then that's good."

"Oh, and I almost forgot, fleur is here. I think it might be best if you just directly said that you're helping her for your own reasons." Aegnor cleared his throat, and begun to think about breaking into the watch-tower. There was a range of options, but he would have to see the area around it himself.
Heal Akari.

"Well, some of us could go back and discretely look at the tower? I am not yet convinced enough by our mission to use anything other than discretion... Or perhaps Mordekhai here could arrest one of us and hand us over to the guards for safe keeping? I er... I read about something similar once..."

(Although I'm the current GM and shouldn't be approving any plans before you try them, I do like that idea. Just saying.)

Aegnor raised an eyebrow. Then shook his head.

"I think that getting one of us jailed is a bad idea, as we would effectively be stuck in that cell. Still, if one of us could get in there with tools or something hidden on them, that might work."

"As much as you might look, Akari," said Tikan, much of her tongue in most of her cheek, "As if you'd fit right in in there, if we did something so risky it would be best to send in someone who can get what we need and get out, either without being noticed or... you know... more pragmatically. Could you?"

"You realise it's a prison in there? And it's probably brutish, dangerous, and bad-smelling? But, you know, you probably could do it. And fire might not be such a bad idea. Mordekhai - if you were guarding a prison, and there was a fire inside, what would you do? Would you let the inmates burn? But then, I doubt these guards are... as conscientious as you have so far shown yourself to be. But we need a distraction to get whoever goes in back out. Or we could just go down the docks."

"Well. How about you go in, with your horriblest villainous face on, find the man, conjure up something that frightens him to death, take the notes off his corpse, fill the place with smoke, and escape in the ensuing chaos? Obviously we can give it a bit more thought than that and we'll be there to help, but, y'know.... If it were me, I'd find the man, cut his throat, take the letter, burn the place down from the inside, and escape in the ensuing chaos. At least that's what happened in the... er... tale I... y'know, read. Although there wasn't letter in it. Just a corpse."
