((@V-Norrec: Do I get to read the letter in the turn? Also, I guess we receive the dead people's belongings, right?))

"I admit, I didn't know them as well as you did, but by my time - however short it was with them -  but...I get the feeling they don't want their deaths to affect anyone else.

"Think, of what they would like best for you right now. A pyre seems like a grand way to set them off..."

"But you also feel it, don't you?." Mordekhai answers, staring at Akari with his blue eyes. "The pain of loss, and the taste of having failed, the defeat."

He sighs before staring at the wall of the room. "I'll light my thurible and keep the flames always bright, but I'll never forget this shame."

"Hey steve." You speak into the air.
>Yes?
"Could you guys also make a hamburger out of this arm when they cut it off? I wanted to eat it just for the sake of tasting it."
>That is horrible and disgusting. It will no doubt set you apart and create fear in your team mates. So of course.

"I-...feel your pain," Akari replied, "but Mother always told me to keep looking on the brighter side of life, lest regret and guilt kill what little you have, to say it verbatim."

She hugged him for the sake of cheering him up, unmindful if this was a regular custom humans had.

"Well, let's assume they're watching us now, eh? We're alive. I bet they're urging us on, to not lose hope in this world. That Jacelyna," her eyes narrowed at the thought, "looked much like a neophyte to me -- a novice in her art. We can't lose in the fact of these things."

"I'm not sure if this will be the last who would die on this journey, but I'm out of work now and all I have left is my staff, this bracelet and the clothes on my back. Not much, to say the least.

"Besides, the good guys always win in the end, right?"

((Zomg, I'm in this awesome RTD at last! Skreeeee))

A soft clinking noise passes by Akari's bed for a moment, before a voice speaks out to her.

"I certainly like to think so, even if they do have to work at it."

As you turn to look who was speaking, you see a somewhat peculiar sight standing next to a empty bed. It's a tall, burly figure in full plate and helm with a broadsword sheathed at the waist, with a large armful of folded towels and sheets, piled up to the bottom lip of the helm.

"It's nice to hear someone with a positive attitude around here that isn't a nurse or a doctor. Being around here for awhile starts to make ya think that it's required of the medical profession, and that it's in short supply elsewhere."

The figure places a set of folded sheets on the bottom of the empty bed, taking a moment to straighten them before speaking again.

"Judging by the attitude of your friend there, I take it that the crash wasn't a normal airship crash? A malfunction with the engines or something?"

"Sabotage." Akari replied, giving the man a welcoming hello by her gestures. "Two forces, Sky Pirates and a Cult. The former broke the navigation instruments while the latter tried to sacrifice me, along with part of the crew, and destroyed the engines by the looks of things.

"You don't look like one of the crew. Well, not one I've seen."
she said, her tone lowering by just a small note. She didn't know most of the crew due to her reclusive job, but she knew how most of them looked like.

Humans always looked the same, at first glance.

Erm. Remember details on that cult, how many other people were sacrificed, if any, and what was I doing before that scene in the Cathedral. Was Jacelyna connected to them?

"That's because I'm not one of them. I'm currently helping out this hospital when I heard news of the crash. I figured they could use a strong pair of arms from time to time."

The figure moves to another empty bed, placing more clean sheets on that one too.

"So, ya were attacked by sky pirates and a cult ya say? And ya were to be a sacrifice for said cult too? I'm very sorry for ya, that must have been terrifying. I'm guessing your friends here saved ya, so I'm glad for you. What kind of cult was it anyway? It's not everyday that one decides to host a sacrifice on an airship everyday, ya know?"

((@V-Norrec: Spinal_Taper has requested waitlist since the first page of the thread but he hasn't been called so far.))

Mordekhai hugs Akari back without much conviction, arms wrapping around soft fur he'd be mirthily rubbing his face against in an almost obscene display of joy and curiosity if happened that to be another situation, in another time.

If at least they had made all together, he'd be happily embracing both her and Nepthym, happy after having both of them close to him after their experience.

"Glad to see you made it out alive, though." he said, giving the kitsune a light pat on her back. "Shruick was the one who helped more during our attempt to save you. I think you could pay him your respects."

"I could conjure up something, but no promises. I've gotten...rusty over the years."

Turning to the other man and letting go of Mordekhai for the moment (she was glad he was lightening up), she moved back to her bed and fell down on the pillow with a flumph sound. "I'm...not sure. Though if you do work here, you may find in my belongings a book I found on one of the cultists. Their leader, I think, was named Jacelyna. There was a symbol of Sareesa on her staff.

"I'll...just lay back here, trying to remember what else if nobody minds. Body still aches-ow."

A voice whispers in Mordek's mind. It sounds...familiar. Is it a spirit from beyond? Meanderings of is tormented soul?

Does it matter?

"...you know, all this moping about on my account is a bit pathetic...why don't you just dump a tank of ale over my grave and move on, big guy? It's not like we slept together or anything." It says-humorously, dangerously-just like Nepthym. Mordekehai might be shocked. The voice feels real.

Aegnor stands up, shaking off the idle crumbs of food as he stretches his legs.

"Everything that happened was a tragedy. There was too much death, and too much pain... I don't want such an event to happen ever again." Aegnor closed his eyes in wearyness, and finished off the rest of the drink.

"I am going to pay my respects to our now dead friends. Then I'm going to get to the bottom of who did this and why." Aegnor stretched slightly, working out the kinks in his arms and legs. Walking over to Mordekhai, he pats his shoulder, and holds his arms out if he needs another hug.

A hoarse voice echoes throughout the room, rebounding off the walls until settling on the mind of Akari: "Hey uh, guys? When they cremate me, can you be sure to toss in a nice meal in there too? The food up here is terrible."

Mordekhai spent some time looking around. He was probably going insane now, what with his mind creating a fake version of Nep to comfort him. He decided to talk to the figment of imagination anyway.
Sure, sure...But we didn't have time to know each other better. I was trying to...get away from some of my former memories, maybe. Trying to make sure to like you for what you are, not because you reminded me of another girl. I was not given enough time with you...I was just too slow.

He wondered why he was talking to himself, though. Maybe to feel better, or release some of his self-loathing.

"Did anyone hear that? I think I did. Modekhai, was that Shruick? Sounds pretty much like a draconian to me, or I'm hearing a really hungry soul." Akari said, still fixing her gaze on the ceiling as she lay down on the bed. Her hands were now nestled under it in a relaxed manner.

"Anyway, I told you so!"

She smiled.
