"I- would. But, please, give us time. Do you know of their names?" Akari replied, trying to sound civil even if her heart was yelling at her of the loss.

Perhaps, it was that there was no space in this room. Perhaps, the other member was in another.

But intuition couldn't be wronged. Seeing Mordekhai's reaction...it didn't seem hopeful.

Aegnor shook his head, too slow too late. The sound of a gunshot. Old horrors coming back to him combining with the smell of linen.

This wasn't even the first time someone's flame in this group flickered out. The dragonian, being torn apart by zombies, and now Nepthym, being shot by a pale imitation of herself. These memories, combined with the current environment drew Aegnor back into the horrors of being a field medic in a war. It was that all over again, in his head.

Drawing his mind to the present, Aegnor shook his head a couple of times, and then tried to prop himself up.

"Did.. Where did the ship crash, where's our dead friend? I want to pay respects.."

"Where is her?" Mordekhai finally said, springing up from the bed.

"I was embracing her when the ship crashed. I need to see her now." his lips tremble for a moment before he bites down on it and musters the strength to complete what he wanted to say "...She wanted me to carry her banner..."

In his short life, the crusader had already faced violent nights in those streets of rage in lawless locations, where blood was freely spilt. Death was not news for Mordekhai, but he had never been hit by such pain as the one he felt now.

During the time he spent fighting for the Zealots, he had never faltered, for he had never formed bonds of friendship. With Eria only as a memory and no friends by his side, the small amount of time he spent killing in the name of a greater good passed relatively fast and without much of notice, as Veke had told him they would be.

But he had made friends recently, and he had known Nepthym. Two of his companions fell...He didn't have time to sort out his feelings, to know the girl better.

She was violently taken away from him...And he could not stop thinking about what might have been...

The Draconian looks flustered at everyone suddenly waking up and asking about the dead.  "Zere will be time for zat later, you are all still dressed in linens.  You 'ave been unconscious for two days."  she says as she forces everyone off of her.  She gets everyone food and drink on a little tray.  "'Ere, eat zis, I will make the appropriate inquiries while you eat.  And zere better not be a scrap of food left when I get back.  Now zen, who is it you are wondering about, names or descriptions only please."

Aegnor coughed slightly, as he pulled himself up further.
"Mordekhai.. Please, don't over exert yourself." At the end of the sentence, Aegnor gives a sigh, filled with regret.

Waiting until the Draconian finishes her talking, Aegnor sighs.

"I'd like to see to the remains of a black scaled draconian, around about my height. And.. Another dead person, with deep blue eyes and electrical hair. She has some tattoos on her face."

With that, Aegnor finishes talking, and begins to nibble on the food, looking down.

Mordekhai talks about at the same time as Aegnor, apparently not paying attention to the healer.

"Nepthym and Shruick...The first is a young girl I was hugging when the ship crashed, her hair was blonde and her eyes blue...her skin is bronze and she had scars on her face." he stopped for a moment as if to recover.

He had only hugged Nepthym after her life had been ended. The girl obviously needed some human warmth and comfort, and she never had any from him. Mordekhai truly felt like an useless piece of shit.

"...And the second is a short draconian with black scales and amber eyes."

Aegnor suddenly stopped eating, and set down his tray.

"I don't suppose that you can get us a newspaper, could you? I need to know what happened after the ship crashed."

The Draconian nods as you describe your friends.  I will zee about zat paper for you, but first, eat.  If ze doctor caught me leaving for 'zis, I would be in big trouble, so no running around, alright?" Fleur says as she walks off towards a different wing of the hospital

This wing is fairly quiet now.  To the side Mordehkai notices a letter with a wax seal pressed into it, the seal of the Zealots.  Must be a local branch in town. . . Durant if the ship's captain was to be believed.  To the left of the group there is one person who seems to be waking up still, to the right, you notice Minuet and Raleigh are awake and grinning at you.  "Yah just had ta' be the heroes din't ya.  Savin' tha whole ship and what not.  They din't say it of course, but we know, we know." Raliegh says in his characteristic accent to you.  Minuet nods before adding "Yeah, if it weren't for you, we all would have been dead for sure!" she smiles.  Raliegh has bandages wrapped around his midsection while Minuet's arm is in a sling.

Edit:  ((Post any actions or pass if you'd like to just pass this turn, I messaged adwarf, if he doesn't get back by ohhh, Noon tomorrow, I'll go to the next on the list, just so everyone knows what is up.))

"But I failed." Mordekhai says grimly, running one of his hands through his copper hair as if trying to rip the scalp itself off his head before taking the letter and staring at it for some time before breaking the seal and reading it, his brown furrowing in slight annoyance.

Read the letter.

Tikan awoke, aware that everything was very different. There was a rush of people, but compared to before it was silent. The bed was soft, but compared to before it was still. There was no rush of wind; no sensation of floating. No more movement.

And then she remembered what was different. She'd been slower than Akari, who'd all but flung herself into the void. For them. And as Tikan had been hanging into the air to pull Akari back up, Nepthym died. She remembered it now.

Although there was something about her that made Tikan uneasy, she'd admired the strange woman for her directness. For the way that she'd led them forward, out of the guts of the ship and...

She shut her eyes again and turned over.

...   ...   ...   ...   ...   ...

A few minutes later she remembered her resolve. She turned back over, opened her eyes, and swung her feet over the bed to test her legs.

They seemed to work...

She put her near expressionless face back on and went in search of the fox-woman and the rest of the people she'd last been with.

Tikan hoped they were ok.

Find the others.

((Just a note in advance, wolfchild has been absent for more than a 3 day interval... :-\

Also, what was my initiative roll for lunging at Jacelyna?

Also, Tikan isn't with us?  :o))

"I'm...not hungry. Don't mind me."

Seeing Mordekhai's reaction, the air felt like a gloomy mess of hopelessness. She nodded at the Elf, and at the others, acknowledging them. The certain two looked like crewmembers -- she didn't know, spending most of her duty in the Engine rooms.

"Hey Mordekhai, could you tell me more of J-...Nephthiym?" she said, trying her best to pronounce the Celestial's name without having her tongue mess it up. "How were the two?"

"Both valiant warriors and nice people...And I failed in protecting them." Mordekhai answered, biting his lip, his blue eyes clouding over as if a dark cloud passed over them. "They fought bravely, but I...simply wasn't enough."

Akari decided not to pursue toe discussion, seeing the man's reply. It was a simple statement, but judging by his reading of them, it was enough to tell her how much they mattered.

"Hey, Mordekhai." The Kitsune stood up and excused herself to those nearest him, to sit by his side and to console him by putting her arm around him. While she did still feel that knot in her chest, the others needed help.

"I don't think they'd want to see you in this state, whether dead or alive anyway. Where I come from, it is said that the souls of the living stay with those closest to them even after death, for several days, acting as their protectors or just watching them.

"We've...all made our mistakes, and you did your best in protecting us all, as well as the rest."
She withheld the fact that they were not fast enough, however, choosing to not feel regret but to instead by optimistic at this time.

"I admit, I didn't know them as well as you did, but by my time - however short it was with them -  but...I get the feeling they don't want their deaths to affect anyone else.

"Think, of what they would like best for you right now. A pyre seems like a grand way to set them off..."

The sense of self-criticism was hovering over Akari's mind.

Why was she saved when the others died?

((Mmkay, I haven't heard anything from adwarf, wolfchild is still MIA, sooooo, next on the list is Frelock.  Going to give him a jingle and see if I can get a hold of him.

Edit:  Frelock has been gone for a while as well, guess that brings us to Zako, who I know will be thrilled to join.))
