Tikan left her room, hoping to wander into somewhere she could get a bite to eat. She wondered about the invitation to work in Vel’dor – although quite a knowledgeable woman compared to the farmers and merchants amongst whom she used to live she didn’t really know a great deal about the outside world. She knew a little about her former overlord and her former enemies, but anything more than a few days’ ride away? Even as a reasonable girl the thought that everyone probably spoke funny and looked funnier crossed her mind.

She hoped that… well, she wondered if this promised job could be the end to her and her family’s old life, but more than suspected that those ways would never end. She remembered when her grandfather was a frail old man and his overlord’s Inspector came to him, requesting one last service. Tikan’s grandfather protested, pleading the long-held tradition of the right to a peaceful end, having served his time and passed on his duty to his son. Tikan was there, watching in the corner of the family’s hut where the light of the flames barely reached, and looked on horrified as the Inspector suddenly drew a hidden blade to her grandfather’s throat. But her grandfather was gone: he’d leapt almost invisibly to the roof; he hung there from the rafters like a bat, it seemed, upside down, mournful eyes locked to the Inspector’s.

All three understood the silent lesson. The skills bestowed by this path chained her to it forever, unless they should be forgotten.

She tried to put a spring in her step and walked on.  She could always try.

Go to one of the nearest diners, see what I can find to eat, and find someone to sit next to who might tell me about Vel’dor.

That should do it. This should be an interesting character, since who thinks that a Crusader must join the Zealots to BE a Crusader? Plus, since he's on a pilgrimage instead of being a Zealot, he's a lot more sociably flexible.

Could try a class we don't have or try paths we haven't tried, I guess.

Or a tank. Tanks are always good.

Capitain Valanos Ironshield, Captain of the Z.C.A.S. Stormrider: [3] The Captain has several maps out, plotting the course for the ship and relaying orders to the pilots.  They were just now entering the mountains, the only tricky spot between the flight from Hugon to Vel'dor.  Trying to keep the pilots about their jobs seemed to be an impossible task though.  They were all too busy thinking about girls in port... or maybe even on this ship.  He sighed and slapped one of them on the backside of the head telling him to pay attention and focus on the mountains.

Nepthym rubbed her dirty brows, thinking and fuming.

She was not very surprised at the development. Most of the world, it seemed, was barred off to her now-gates, locks, chains, guards, magical wards...all them attempting to enforce the fact she had no right to exist. She was an outsider-an invader-an opposing force-a parasite that fed on a healthy body-an error in an ordered system. And their function was to hedge her out, and kill her...direction action or inaction, it came to the same thing.

This was a War, and one she was not going to lose.

Risk and reward. Why was she here? If she got through this trip undetected, any of her pursuers would be put off the scent, maybe for good. She might be able to settle down, change her identity, get some sort of job. It was worth it if she could stop running for once.

All aside, she was still hungry. It gnawed at her. Nepthym found herself looking at her knife, and her small hand, and wondering if she had the will survive no matter what. A darkly amusing thought, it brought a small smile to her face, for a moment-there and gone, like a strip of lace flowing in the wind.

Nepthym wasn't sure how dine and dash would work here-she couldn't exactly jump off the ship, and if they chased her, they would catch her eventually. Plucking the garbage was certainly an option. They threw away more food than she ate in months.

Right now, she needed a place to hide and plan. No sense waiting here for some Porter or Guard to lay hands on her.

Action: Sneak into the living areas, fading into the crowd. Look for an unclaimed lower class room I might be able to rest and hide in.

Shruick sniffed the air of the lounge. A slight waft of fresh tea struck his nostrils. It's not an engine room, but Shruick supposes this would be the next best place to spend his break.

Gazing over the tables, Shruick recognizes the familiar face of the attending waitress sitting over in a corner. No reason to bother her, but it may be a minute before she gets back to serving. Perhaps he'll just spend that minute clearing his head.

((@Zako: I also wanted Mordekhai to be unaffiliated (hence the backstory), but I think the GM is enforcing that rule from the first game (Crusaders must aligned with the Zealots), probably to explain their magic training or something.))

Mordekhai kept walking calmly, finding nothing out of ordinary so far. He tapped the flail - which had been safely put away at his back - and some of the leather pouches that hung from straps tied his armor, confirming the presence of some water and loaves of bread he carried during his patrols.

Once again drawing a deep sigh, he started to consider his life...Did he really want to keep doing this for his whole life? No, of course not. As his mentor had taught him, he should prefer protecting others instead of killing. The chaos that his kind had been spilling across the land usually had no Good nor Bad in battle, but it did have innocent victims, tangled in affairs they didn't belong to.

His hand closed into a fist, causing the spikes on the back of his hand and positioned above his knuckles to perk up. The young crusader would try and do something good for the people. Living just for the sake of existing held no satisfaction, and the teachings of his father were still deeply ingrained within him.

Help rather than kill, and fulfill a dream Veke left behind before dying...

Keep searching for intruders and the like near the corridors around the galley and living areas then move to my assigned room.

(Just wanted to emphasize that. I'm V-Norrec's second, so to speak, so anything I post outside of parentheses is in-character stuff. For that matter, if any of you want to make up and interact with random, non-plot-specific NPCs to get an aspect of your character across, I can handle that as well. Just give me an OOC notice in your post and I'll step in. ^^^ Just no combat, yet. I at least want to wait until the whole party is together... speaking of which, Caellath, get your ass into the bar, that's where everyone's supposed to go. :P)

Tikan thanked and paid the barman as best she could - as unhelpful as he'd been in terms of information, it wasn't exactly his fault. She'd have to pay attention to any other Vel'dor natives she came across to learn how to mimic their speech, she thought to herself. Just before she walked away, she realised that the barman himself could be useful in this way, and flashed him a cheery smile.

"Hey, what's your name?"

Feeling a little awkward, she turned and walked off into the dining room, looking for someone who - although she realised it wasn't something that would be all that easy to tell immediately - might look like they know something about their destination and be comprehensible...

Find someone more... neutrally accented to ask about Vel'dor - in particular their social customs. If no one sticks out, see if the barman wants a bit more of a chat. Listen to the intonations in his voice and try to make sense of it. Perhaps she could help out behind the bar during the journey?

Aegnor scratched the side of his head for a second, before taking the tea with a smile. "Oh, well. If you travel like me, then money does become something of a rarity, but I manage to make do." Aegnor takes a sip of the tea, and nods in an appreciative fashion. "This is good tea, again, thanks."

Inside however, Aegnor was sighing. 'Money, money, money.' Usually, he was able to come by on free meals, and the odd job that actually paid with money. He wasn't even sure why he decided to get a ticket here. Spur of the moment, he decided to blame it on wanderlust.

Enjoy the tea, and just generally relax.

[1] You don't see anyone else really around right now who looks like a Vel'dor Native.  Though the Draconian sitting next to you might know something?  You're not betting on it though.  [2] The barman is making small talk with the Draconian, who appears to another employee on the Airship.
