Name: Nepthym Heliopsis
Gender:  Female
Race:  Rah'cl'til (Celestial)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Bio:  Nepthym was never given much choice in her life. She was born, quite literally, on the battlefield-her birth screams unheard among the dead and dying. Her Mother and Father didn't survive the ensuing battle.

She grew up around soldiers, adopted by a sort, into the company called the 'White Crows'-a regiment of Rah'ci'til Warriors loyally serving their Kingdom-Nepthym was quicker, smaller and slighter than most, and by 15 she was already serving as a scout among the company. Her brothers and sisters were her family-sharing victory, defeat and the struggle to maintain their identities against all odds.

As befitting their people, they were ordered to kill and butcher at the whims of petty Lords and Nobles with the mandate of absolute Law. They did indeed do good for the people of the Kingdom, and they did evil as well, all in service of Crown and Country-but at the end of the day, they didn't choose to do either of them, being hardly more than slaves.

Then came the day when they said 'No'. One massacre too many. One more suicidal order they just couldn't follow, this time. The White Crows drew a line, and defied the Kingdom.

They died to the Man and Woman, finally free.

...Except for Nepthym, spared by those who had butchered her family, and not spared for a good reason, either. Rather than continuing serving, one way or the other, she ran. She's still running-and doing things she never thought she'd have to do to survive-looking for a purpose in life, some reason to keep going.

Description: Nepthym is a female  Rah'cl'til of about 18, with fair blonde hair and eyes colored completely electric blue. Her skin is a warm bronze tone-in many ways, she represents the 'Angel' figure of legend, her body chiseled and perfected as befitting an instrument of the Gods. But behind this mask, there is still a Human-scarred from battle, thin from lack of food, and tried from a life of war and loss. She has been gifted with a number of tattoos indicating her former allegiance to the White Crows, purposefully marring and ruining the symmetry of the perfect face she was given. Some of larger tattoos seem to have been recently burned away, leaving scars-no doubt to hide her identity, which might still lead to her death or slavery, is she were to be recaptured by her former nation.

Tattered White Crows Banner/Probably the only one left, taken from the bloodsoaked battlefield, it shows the diving Alabaster Crow on a field of green, that was her former Legions namesake. She's been trying to mend it, slowly and painstakingly-and has kept it immaculately clean as she could, in the circumstances.
Dagger/Hardly more than a simple knife, taken off the belt of the first man she trusted on the outside, and who tried to drag her into chains as soon as she dared to sleep. It's clearly been regularly cleaned and and sharpened since then with military efficiency.

Skills and Abilities:  Basic Attack, Basic Shot

OOC: Hope you guys don't mind the custom race. :P

I still remain undecided, you're missing three skills either way though, one melee, two gun.

Screw it, I'll let it slide, however, you will be one of the very few of your race.  The Heavens very rarely intermingle with the mortal world, change your bio accordingly and you will be accepted.

I guess I'm good at making at least semi-popular games?  I went ahead and added everyone who expressed an interest in the game so far from the old game to the waiting list, I'm going to go ahead and start 'rolling' up the first turn now, suffice it to say you'll all be in one tight area though.

Zealots and Demons, Turn 1

Quote from: Ochita
Appear.

[2]  Nope your ribs are still broken.  Probably shouldn't try to steal a sword and armor  Oops, wrong game.  *Ahem*  You wake up sitting on a chair in the main lounge.  You see a pretty looking female elf smiling at you from the counter where she is serving tea.  You check your pockets... damn out of money again.  You gripe to yourself that this oath of poverty isn't all it's cracked up to be, it took nearly all your money just to buy the ticket aboard the Z.C.A.S. Stormrider, that bed was just so comfortable though you couldn't say no!  Despite the lack of funds, you get the feeling the counter is the place to be.

Quote from: Caellath
Appear.

[4] Guard duty on the luxury ship Z.C.A.S. Stormrider.  Sometimes life as a Zealot Crusader is pretty grand, especially since the demons have stopped swarming in from the Ancient Demon Gate.  You sigh, walking along the metal hallways, checking to make sure nothing is amiss.  Your shift-change is soon, and you're pretty sure nobody would notice if you slinked off to go have a drink of something a bit more stout right now.  You sigh and keep walking for the moment, figuring on a cushy job like this you can't really afford to complain.

Quote from: CrimsonEon
Appear.

[6] A job working on a luxury liner ship like this seemed too good at the time.  How were you supposed to know your primary responsibility would be mopping floors and working counters, providing service to the people on the flight.  You sighed, it was almost time to get off, then you might be able to get some relaxation in before your next twelve-hour shift.

Quote from: lawastooshort
Appear.

[3]  You're not quite sure exactly how you ended up on the Z.C.A.S. Stormrider's maiden flight.  You remember being offered a teaching job being offered by the Zealots in Vel'dor, and you just wanted to be as far away from your old life as possible.  You look around, while you are in a third-class room, in a luxury airship like the Stormrider it is one of the best rooms you have ever been in.  You look at the clock on the wall from some of the reading material provided by the on-board library.  Three-thirty.  You stretch and find yourself wondering if you shouldn't get up and move around.  Somehow, you just know it's time to go to one of the diners... maybe they are offering free tea?

Quote from: Dwarmin
Appear.

[1]  "Why didn't I just walk on like a normal person?  Why did I pack myself in a crate to get on this stupid Airship?" you mutter to yourself.  All and all though it is a fairly roomy crate.  Taking your dagger you pry it open and squirm out.  There are a few workers running around, no doubt tending to different instruments.  Nobody seems to have noticed you, and your stomach is begging for attention.

You see a door that is labeled, "Galley" in blocky black letters not far away.  Your internal clock informs you it's approximately three in the afternoon, so there shouldn't be too many people around right?

Farther away is an unmarked, but more intricate door, it probably leads to the living areas or something, maybe you could just fade into the crowd and not be noticed as a stow-a-way?

((@GM: Mordekhai's status has a few different skills. :P))

Mordekhai easily ignores the thoughts of alcoholic beverages - he does not drink alcohol - and moves along the ship, the purity seals that adorn his heavy plate armor flapping with the soft current of wind probably sneaking in from an open window.

He sighs and rests his back against the wall, thinking about how he ended up taking this job to maintain himself. Life in general could be considered better without the daemons, and even the crusaders of old had been taking upon new ways and settling in calmer tasks. Changing his life was something which his mentor had been unable to; his mind had been solely focused on revenge and inflicting death upon demons during a good part of his life, and he had no way of avoiding that truth.

Even then, Mordekhai knew that blood was still being freely spilt, but now for other problems. With the absence of the cursed creatures, humans started to kill each other more frequently, as if trying to compensate the absence of the foul demons with their own kind of evil, their passions and petty desires inflated by a world where their natural enemies had disappeared. Dark times were indeed abound with the lack of a common, strong enemy to create a feeling of union and companionship. In this new "war" there were usually no right sides; only sheer ambition and continuous and repeated treachery.

Guard duty paid him, and was a way of keeping his mind and body occupied and sharp. The young man suspected he had only managed to be hired due to his well-made armor and weapon and because his adoptive father's name still had some weight attached to it. Thinking about fun during his shift was also far from professional, and he focused his mind back in the task at hand...Look for intruders, troublemakers, irregularities and the like.

If a tall man in an armor that made him look like a metal behemoth did not make people behave properly, few things would.

Search for irregularities in the ship (intruders, trouble, etc.).

Hungry.

Nepthym had known Hunger before. Long marches into empty lands, away from supply lines, living off what she and her mates could scavenge. Whey they found, they shared. No one went Hungry, or they all did.

This was a different sort of Hunger. More desperate. Less controlled. Sharing bread with your battle brothers, and your battle sisters was a good act, shared sacrifice filling in the empty spots, warming your bones.

There was no honor or dignity in starving alone. The Gods on High were said to have blessed her blood from birth, but they weren't helping her now.

She knew she could starve-it was a legitimate risk, where she was.  Nepthym had seen others like her-they just fell to the ground and went to sleep.

Then she took their clothes and valuables, if they had any. It explained her current scruffy, patchwork appearance. Preserving modesty, but that was about all it preserved. And yet, she would not suffer to give away any of her dignity, not yet.

She hadn't sold her body to pay for food, though the temptation was always there-big market for her kind, it was why the first person she had trusted had been trying to get that chain around her neck. At least she got a dagger out of it, a nice coat and pair of boots-the coat was a tattered shawl, now, and the boots she still wore, stripped down to almost soles.

She still carried herself with as much dignity as she could muster. Nepthym would rather steal then beg, though she had done both on occasion-but never regretting the act until it was done. She hadn't killed anyone to rob them...yet. She kept as clean as she could, kept her clothes in as good as condition as she could. Nepthym wouldn't surrender to despair, or legarthy. That way was death. That would be betraying the souls of her brothers and sisters who had died so she could be free.

In her own mind, she was still a soldier-and this was just another mission. Priority was obtaining food, now. Keeping her identity a secret also important, though sometimes she wondered if anyone was actually still hunting her...still, she couldn't afford to be recaptured under any circumstance.

While she had never killed an innocent, that was true, she had killed those who had come after her. Bounty Hunters, mostly. Or Slavers. She felt no regret about that. She was a soldier, and they were the enemy.

So, this young, oddly pretty thing began to move, keeping to the shadows. She longed for the familiarity of a finely carved hardwood Longrifle in her hands once again, but in this case, it was just a false comfort. Her strength was in stealth.

Action: Sneak into the galley and look for some food. Gather it with me, and then exit, looking for a safe place to eat.

Shruick scowled as he laid the mop in his hand aside, ready for the next drone to unite it with soap and floor again. This work was beneath him in so many ways. When was the last time he got to work with a machine? So long ago. The muffled sounds of engines barely give him any comfort in this menial work.

And for what? Clean floors and manned counters for rich patrons with nothing better to do. Shruick sighed, but at least it's a change of pace. On the one hand Demons are gone, with them the open chaos that reigned. But now we're bringing our own brand of evil, some of negligence and greed, others of pure chaos not unlike that which just left.

But there's no point to musing about that now, there's only a while to relax. If he's learned anything, there's no point in overexertion. Yet in all the commotion of getting onto this ship, Shruick never really got his bearings, only to be moved from job to job on this ship by the nearest supervisor. Couldn't hurt to at least look around, maybe if he was lucky he could find an engine room, maybe get his mind working on mechanics again.

Take a look around

The waitress leaned on the counter, idly chatting with the bartender as she poured tea into cups. She scanned the room as she talked, looking for someone she could perhaps charm into leaving a big tip. There were a few good perks with her job; she got to travel the world in an airship for free, she had room and board, and she got to meet a lot of people... but the room and board came out of her pay, and that wasn't great to begin with. Her gaze settled on a brown haired, brown eyed elf in blue robes for a moment, and she flashed him a grin as she tucked a strand of dark red hair behind a pointed ear. He was the only interesting person in the room. She spoke to the bartender a moment more, then picked up the tray with tea and walked over to the blue-robed elf.

"Hi there. My name's Minuet." She smiled and put one of the mugs in front of him. "You look a little down. Want to talk about it?" she asked.
