Once everyone's ready - open the door, but don't go in. Step back into the hallway and let anything hostile come out...

((presumably the best thing to do would be to systematically go through each of the 6 doors - open and check, see if we find Maria, and if not then rethink.))

((off topic - V-Norrec: I am going away for 3 weeks after the weekend - apologies and please auto me sensibly where required))

Zealots and Demons, The Fall of a God, Turn 106:  Tired Fighters

Quote from: Caellath
Stand by the door Tikan is going to open, prepared to protect her and attack any hostiles that appear.

((See Tiruin's post))

Quote from: Ochita
Get into a position that will allow for a first strike if something comes though the door

Quote from: Tiruin A.I.
Observe door opening

([1]=Door Result, [90]=Years in the future, [2]=God present, [2]=Number of enemies, [1]=Power of enemies.)  You watch as the door swings open at Tikan's touch.  You see the mountain around you has been blackened by fire, all life from it extinguished except for the two demons and another figure you see in the distance.  It's clear that the other figure it fighting them from the gunfire you can here from this distance.  You can see long dead corpses all around and burned out building husks.  Just barely stepping through the door you see it looks like you've come from one of the burned out husks yourself.

You go back to trying to observe the demons.  They appear to be just standard demon troopers.  The figure fighting them is gaunt, his face hidden by a broad-rimmed hat.  He seems to be having some trouble as his guns are not effective at this distance.  He has a tattered cloak as well, preventing you from observing much more than that.

Quote from: Fleur
Observe

"'Ze longer I spend here... 'ze more I am confused by this place." Fleur says looking through into the future.  "It is as something out of a nightmare."

Allies:
Cloaked God:  [2] The god attempts to shoot at the enemies but misses as he is forced to dodge the clumsy ax attack.  It would appear everyone here is greatly fatigued.
Health:  100/100
Fatigue:  0/100

Enemies:
Demon Trooper 1:  [2] The demon swings at the gaunt man clumsily, his axe appearing to be greater than a being his size can wield.
Health: 35/35

Demon Trooper 2:  [1] This demon too attempts to attack the cloaked figure, though he is not even close enough to hit.
Health:  35/35

"I don't think I had ever seen a demon, but that... is unmistakable. We should help their opponent, but I have no idea how," says Tikan to her allies, watching through the doorway, "I'm not sure we should step through. I'm not even sure it's real, I suppose. One of you should try to attack on of the demons from range - or we should just close up and open the next door..."

If friends attack, prepare a thrust attack on the first hostile creature to come within range.

Aegnor glanced at the landscape, and took a step back. "I dont know if its safe to move though, and judging by what has occured, this appears to be in the future at some point..." Aegnor gave a strong shudder, and looked away. It seems like he is uncertain about what to choose, the risk fighting with his sense of right. Eventually, he opened his mouth.

"...If this is the future, there still may be a chance to alter the course of fate.. That person fighting the demons may have information we could use to tell the zealots something to prevent this.. Right?"

((I feel like i haven't been obvious in this so take this for what it's worth.  But the spirits in the house asked you to kill Maria, they aren't going to start closing the doors on you and messing your life up unless you take several more hours.  Basically as long as you don't spend then night, you're going to be fine and you don't need to have people stay back at the door.  I'm not that mean.))

"Future?" Mordekhai asks in confusion, wondering whether Aegnor had been granted some manner of vision the rest of the group hadn't. As far as the crusader can tell, the nightmarish landscape seems to be just that, part of a nightmare-like illusion created by the magic permeating the rooms; he both doubts the wild-magic infused house is capable of some manner of clairvoyance and believes a future like that seems unlikely.

Regardless. "There are demons ahead. I believe we should eliminate them." he says, facing the rest of his allies.

Charge down the demons unless the team opposes that course of action.

>That is horrible and disgusting. It will no doubt set you apart and create fear in your team mates. So of course.

"Mordekhai... Just beware..."

Rush in to aid Mordekhai if it looks like he needs it i.e. seems outmatched, injured, or if it's a trap.

"I will not rush into combat if it seems like a bad idea. It just does not seem right to just watch someone exhausted fighting demons; every moment we spend considering a course of action may result in their death. This place may be nothing but an illusion, but I would rather not take any chances." the crusader explains.

"... The area beyond the door looks as if it could be these mountains. Perhaps I was mistaken in my assumption." Aegnor looks away for a moment, seemingly flustered. When Mordekhai expressed his desire to eliminate the demons, Aegnor gave a short nod. Future or not, demons were still demons.

If the party goes into combat, cast a fatal circle at demon trooper 1.

"Chances or none, I don't have a good feeling about this. And by that, I mean I don't feel like whatever I'm looking at is a good thing." Akari said as she looked at the demons.

Excusing her blatant and apparent usage of redundancy, she stepped thru that door and remembered one of her memories which she did not wish to remember--that one time in a red fog...

Apply Terrify > Demon/s (if possible, aim for usage upon the group of demons instead of a singular one)

Kael wasn't sure what exactly was going on, so in the face of this confusion, he fell back on something he knew he could depend on.

"In my experience and knowledge, demons are always horrible beings that want to destroy everything and everyone. The fact that they are fighting someone right now just simplifies things."

Charge with Mordekhai!

Zealots and Demons, The Fall of a God, Turn 107: Welcome to the Warp

Zealots and Demons, The Fall of a God, Turn 107:  Welcome to the Warp

Quote from: Caellath
Charge down the demons unless the team opposes that course of action.

[6] You charge forward, but the ground seems to be... changing.  One step is solid but the next is spongey as though you are in the middle of a swamp.  You make it to your target but the last step is as though you are in the middle of a desert and you stumble forward, but manage to catch yourself after sliding a short distance, though it takes kneeling over to do so. [4] You rise back up to your feet unaffected by the Warp's effects.

Quote from: lawastooshort
Rush in to aid Mordekhai if it looks like he needs it i.e. seems outmatched, injured, or if it's a trap.

[1] You rush forward to try and help but the ground itself seems to be against you as each step has you sinking further into the ground than before. [3] You manage to crawl out of the... ground and back onto the ground.  This place... wherever it is, is one of the strangest and most terrifying places you could have ever concieved.  You look towards the sky after escaping, it is red and seems to be swirling attempting to swallow you into itself. [4]  You quickly look away from the sky and get back to your feet resolving that such an aberrant thing should not be viewed if at all possible.

Quote from: Ochita
If the party goes into combat, cast a fatal circle at demon trooper 1.

[5] [5+2x2=14 damage]  You run forward a small distance before jumping into the air.  You feel yourself floating higher than you thought possible as you cast the spell, you feel yourself pushed backwards as the spell launches forward creating a small area of holy destruction under the feet of the two demons.  You touch the ground again after a long second.  You realize that the jump is part of the spell in order to have the view necessary to complete the spell, but it still feels wrong to float like that.

Quote from: Tiruin
Apply Terrify > Demon/s (if possible, aim for usage upon the group of demons instead of a singular one)

[2] You attempt to terrify the demons but the air around you seems to eat the energy from the spell.

Quote from: Zako
Charge with Mordekhai!

[2] You charge forward with Mordekhai, but arrive much later than him as it feels like you are running uphill despite this being a downward slope.  You're catching your breath as you make it to the demon attempting to attack him but not able to make your attack connect. [2] You feel notably more fatigued after your charge.

Quote from: Fleur
Backstab Demon Trooper 1

[5] ([4]+[3]+2x2=18 damage)  Fleur manages to run forward with great speed, an expeditious tailwind left behind her as she stabs the demon in the back several times, purple flames rushing out of the wound.

Allies:
Cloaked God:  [3] ([3]+10/2=7 damage] "Mortals, I didn't think any were left here.  Quickly, destroy the other demon!" He yells as he shoots the demon trooper in the head, killing it.  It appears to scream, but it's body quickly disintegrates into spell from Aegnor as it harmlessly fuels the destruction of his brother.
Health:  95/100
Fatigue:  0/100

Enemies:
Demon Trooper 1:
Health: dead

Demon Trooper 2:  [3] ([4]+5/2=5 damage)  The trooper closes the distance with the god and manages to cut the god's exposed gun hand.  It snarls attempting to intimidate the god unsuccessfully.
Health:  21/35
Status:  Fatal Circle:  Takes 14 damage until the spell expends itself

Warp Effects:
Expeditious Tailwind: movement towards Fleur can be completed free of roll next turn
Aberrant Sky:  Looking up causes you to take a sanity roll (Lasts 2 more turns)
Unstable Ground:  The ground around you seems to behave according to whatever rules it wishes.  Movement now requires a roll. (Lasts 1 more turn)
