[4-1, vs. 2]  You can hear two people outside, it doesn't sound like anyone else is out there.  They are talking.  One voice is distinctly feminine while the other sounds like it belongs to a man who has seen too many battles in his life.  The feminine voice seems to be in a position of authority over the other.

"It took you long enough to get me out."

"I apologize mi'lady, I did not know you were aboard this flight.  Had I known I would have had my men show you special treatment."

"Save your flattery, it works out better this way anyhow.  I'll go pay the Captain a visit, you stay here and make sure nobody gets out."

"Understood." says the male voice not saying anything for a while as the feminine voice presumably leaves and then you hear him mutter, "Damn pirates, once they take over the ship I'll take it back and finally I'll be put in a nice cushy job I can retire from."  You get the feeling now is going to be your best chance to break out, in fact it'd be far better to get out now than to wait.

"Uh..." Tikan turned to the three others locked up with her and whispered. "Hey. I don't think this was just regulations like the captain said... Look, we've had no explanation about this, and I swear I just heard the man outside speaking about being with the pirates and taking over. I really really think we need to get out of here while we can. I know you don't know me and I'm not sure how I can convince you to trust me, but this isn't right. Can any of you do something to get us out of here?"

Keep listening to outside with all my attention, particularly for voices or footsteps coming or going.

((Is the door solid? Or with bars? A mechanical lock? Is the roof smooth? Or with any handholds? Vents?))

((Solid, fairly simply mechanical lock, smooth roof, small vent that you can't fit into on the side of the wall ((A non-connecting wall preventing you from communicating with other cells.))

The sound of people talking outside reached the cell, although Mordekhai was unable to hear what they were talking about. Anyway, it was just a matter of time, and he wasn't too worried about it. Unless a true emergency started, he'd rather simply wait inside the cell.

He'd already read enough books about people who hadn't done anything wrong causing terrible misunderstandings because they left cells at the first chance of escape, or actively tried to escape. The crusader hadn't done anything which could cause him harm; he had only been working honestly and nothing more. He would probably be better off facing it calmly.

Keep waiting.

Nepthym felt restless-her instincts were tell her to run, but where to? There was no where to hide...but was there a place she could run?

She tried to relax her breathing, dropping into a state of battle meditation. Maybe it could help her think more clearly.

Action: Meditate, and think. How can one get off this ship without an obviously fatal leap?

"Come on, you!" Shruick mumbled as he sheepishly messed with the lock. In a fit of claustrophobic rage, he drives his fist into the door, spraining his wrist slightly. "Argh!"

Tikan speaks up, she mentions that a man outside may be with pirates. "What, really?" Shruick states skeptically, but after a moment of silence, a wave of dejection passes over him, "I just had to say pirates didn't I..." Now he's getting agitated, pacing across the doorway, looking at the lock. Alright, calm down. The only thing that's going to get me out of here is a cool head, Shruick thought as he noticed his inventory, They left me my Sabre and my toolkit? Shruick chuckled, Their mistake.

(CALMLY) Examine the lock again, try to avoid alerting anyone on the other side.

Minuet wasn't taking imprisonment well, and was sitting in the corner with her knees drawn up to her chin and her arms around them. She made a small, frightened sound like a mouse when Tikan mentioned pirates. Raleigh looked at her sympathetically, then leaned forward, elbows on his knees. "Aye. We've fought air pirates before, but I cannae say they've ever made it on board 'til now." He looked at Shruick examining the lock. but didn't say anything about it. "We might be safer in here if what you heard is true, lass," he said to Tikan, although his expression said 'getting out of here might be a good idea, too'.

Shruick stares at the lock. Yes, definitely a lock. Typical mechanism used to prevent manipulation of a certain fixture or device, in this case a door. Back in the historical days these were incredibly simple-, Shruick cut himself off, shaking his head, Stop that. Stop that useless train of thought right now.

Shruick continues to examine the lock, albiet without touching it, he didn't want to alert anyone on the other side. Yet, how could he possibly go about tampering with it without alerting anyone on the other side? Any sort of fussing with the mechanism will create noise that anyone focused on the ambiance can hear.

Looking back at the others, Shruick paused. Not a single other thing that could help here. The walls were plain, aside from a rather small vent noone could possibly fit through. Minuet was far too frightened to help, Raleigh probably wouldn't have the lowdown of these parts of the ship and frankly didn't look the type to fight, and this other lady... Who was she anyway? He didn't recall her mentioning her name, and she seemed rather interested in our destination. Nevertheless, Shruick was convinced that he was on his own for the moment. If only he wasn't being stopped by such an infernal case of elementary mechanics! Shruick's frustration nearly causes him to punch the lock again, but stops short.

Did I just hear something? Shruick paused to listen, Sounded like... A shatter, maybe?

This didn't help his nerves, he shakes his head and opts to continue examining the infernal lock

She said, not bothering to look back at them. Her tone of voice was thickly accented and oddly musical-she spoke well enough, but it was clearly not her first language.

Action: Escape!

Pfff - come on Tikan, not every noise is a bad noise, calm down. Everything that has come before has only been practice for what comes next, this is not too tricky a situation, come on... And stop that!

Tikan tried to stop her inner narrative long enough for some calm to arise. It was a simple cell, with a simple lock. They hadn't taken her belongings. Was it that serious? Yes. She trusted her ears and she was sure what she had heard before. Something wasn't right and it felt more and more wrong the more she stayed there locked up and vulnerable. They hadn't taken her belongings...

Looking around her cellmates she wasn't sure that two of them were terribly interested in escape, but the Draconian clearly was, even if it seemed like he was trying to escape by melting the lock with his mind, frowning at the thing with an astonishing intensity. She decided to risk interrupting him and sidled up.

"Hey. I could try jamming that open with my knife - they didn't think to search me before throwing me in here. You got anything helpful on you? At the very least if they come in for us and it looks bad, at least we won't be totally defenceless..."

Suggest to the Draconian that we, together, use whatever we have to try to force the lock. Then try to force the lock, quietly if possible. Keep my knife ready but concealed if possible.

Tikan's interruption nearly causes Shruick to jump. Twice he's nearly forgotten she was even there.

"A Knife?" Shruick quietly muttered, "So you're keen on that pirate hunch then." Shruick pulled his toolkit from a satchel on his belt, "I've still got a bunch of tricks up my sleeve I've been meaning to get to, but didn't want to risk making a ruckus. But if you're sure about this pirate situation, we're in pretty hot water one way or the other." Shruick pulls out a small screwdriver, "Whether we get through the lock or not, expect company."

Forget examining, bust out my toolkit and start cracking!

Mordekhai was calmly sitting agains the wall of the cell when the elf produced metal-melting acid out of nowhere, destroying the lock, which was followed in sequence by the female patron who looked like a foreigner (and a soldier, judging from her behavior) standing up. Sighing and knowing he had to get the plot going, the crusader also stood up.

"Then I am following you, miss. Even if I'd rather stay here, if there is any combat going on outside then I have to protect other people."

He followed behind her, a relaxed voice coming from behind the plate which protected his face.

"Although you can probably handle yourself well enough, from what I have seen so far. Your manners are less similar to that of a rich lady and more like that of a soldier. My name is Mordekhai Sarvedon, pleased to meet you."

Leaving the door and finding Marshall Jyk, Mordekhai waves to him.

"Greetings, Marshall. May we know what exactly is happening here?"

Question the Marshall.
