Well all I'm planning on doing is creating the Kingdom Under the Mountain (and possibly Lake-Town), so you don't even have to make the whole map, but if you are willing to then make the one from the Hobbit.

Getting to work on it.  May not be able to get all the rivers in the right places though. :-\

That's alright, as long as everything is as accurate as possible around the mountain. Thanks so much for doing this.

Also, I am not positive but I believe that sealing the fortress with walls will prevent the horde from scattering all over the map. It will still be pretty messy inside unless you sealed off a treasure room with everything in it.

Well I was planning on sealing Smaug in the treasure room anyway so he couldn't run off, so that's great if it works. I would like some way for adventurers to get in and burgle some treasure though, so I can't have it totally sealed off. Also it has to be accessible by the Backdoor (which I think will either be an artifact door or floodgate hooked up to a complex system of repeaters so it only opens on one day a year).

would a forbidden hatch above the wall sealed treasury room prevent the dragon from escaping, the treasure from scattering and allow an adventurer to enter?

I don't think it would keep the goods from scattering, but it might stop the dragon. All that stuff doesn't need to be worked out until the whole project is done though, so I'm not worrying about it right now.

Items and corpses WILL scatter anyway, unless you use the DFHack's "lair" command.

I read on the wiki that drawbridges restrict item scatter, so I might use them to wall off Smaug's layer somehow.

I've heard that storing things in lead bins keeps scatter down because of their weight.  But I have not tested that.  If lead works, maybe silver or gold bins (imagine them as jeweled chests).

Alright that sounds nice. Does anyone know if items in chests/cabinets/coffers scatter?

As I've heard, they will stay in the chests, but the chests will be scattered a bit. The amount that the chest is moved depends on its weight, so something like a lead bin should stay mostly in place.

The wiki says that buildings won't move, so I assume that means chests too. It says cages stay in place, so I assume containers would too.

Only if you've built them from the b menu. Contents usually scatter. Seriously, DFHack is the fastest way here.
