I see that we already have a lot of fun! This spore man is going to be a real problem, we must kill him or get another well. We could kill him with archers.

I also believe we could try and make there be a few fortififcations. Obsidian would be preferred.(You've got armok's tears, you've got magma. you know what to do.)

Yup, you've ben ork'd. I'll get the magma furnaces up and running before winter is over, and give a screenshot of who is left. The Sporeman...is dead. As is Utes. The prblem being that their is syndrome dust all over the aquifer, any anyone who drinks out of it vomits profuseley. It's hilarious, but we should take care to give our champion's alchohol only. I'll edit in some screeneies of the fort before I pass it over.

Poor Utes. He sacrificed himself to save the whole fort. I think he deserves a tomb, as he's one of our first heroes.
Otherwise, you are bringing us good news! Do we have a glassmaker or will we have to wait for one/train one?

Some pics of the fort as it now stands:

We have a food stroage problem, but the begining of a magma metal industry is set up. build another magma slag pit and set one to batch melt iron, and the other to refine it. Rusty iron goes into barbed wire, ammo, and other things that are not weapon or amrour related. We have a glassmaker, so that is god, but we do not have those junk furances which gather sand to be made into glass. Some traps are up, baited with shark teeth and green glass barbed wire. we have a small quantity of wood. We need both defense and creature comforts, more tables, chairs, a better system of food storage to prevent so much rotting meat, and a still to provided untainted fluid for our soldiers. Komresh has lamellar wargear, his copper starting gear, and a pair of bladed chains, made of copper. Utes should be memorialized at the first opportunity. If we want more precious lamellar leather, we need some pig tails or rock nuts to get oil from, or mineral oils, so we can make tough hide, then the warcrafter can laminate it. I FIddled with the raws to make clubs viable weapons. Snakepumphagus posted his tenative fix, which I have implemented for blunt wepaonry being terrible. My advice is that we use archers to fight off the coming sieges, and then cook them. We can refit their armor at the slag pit, rather than melt it down and craft our own, and we have the wood to make composite bows, for now. protect the caravans at all costs, they have much need goods with them. Setting up a music stage and getting a bard to buff our troops before combat would be a good idea.

So yeah. It's a bit of a mess, but I think we have a shot at this. The lever in the dining room activates the draw bridge by the way, very important.

So yeah, shingy, you'r up. We have an unnamed orc you can take.

Hey there Boss, whaddya thinking, we Orcs don't play music on a *stage*, that's fer Dwarfs who're too short to stand up proper.

An' *bards*??  That'll be battle-drummer.  Or at least WARBARD

Alright: good news, we're not dead. Been playing for thirty minutes and I've just got migrants. So, update time!

This is a dragon raptor leather book. It is studded with amethyst. It shows some rust and is well-made.

WAAARGH! The previous clan leader (or overseer as dwarves say) said that he was tired and that he needed "Vacations". What an elf!
Anyway, the fellas said that I had to handle this, so here I am, Shingy, "Overseer" of Taintbroil!

I took a quick look at the situation: our farms were... almost non-existant, our well was poisoned and we lost a good fella. I took some decisions:
The following pages are reports about the fortress with sometimes schematics. It is written with giant squid ink.

I've ordered a booze stockpile to be built near the trade depot. As we don't really need it, if we use it as a trade good it will be useful.
At the workshops level, I ordered a carpenter's workshop to be built, as I didn't found any. I also told our miners do dig out a stockpile for the wood. I hope that it won't burn.
I changed the dining room. The previous overseer didn't know -as me before- that it is one table per chair. I told our mason to work faster so we can all eat and drink in the dining room.
It's not done yet, but it progresses.

Now, the real problem: the well is poisoned. A spore man and an orc thought that it would be fun to jump in the well. Unfortunaly, they died.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I ordered two wells to be built. They'll drain water from the caverns, that we will breach soon I hope. Still, they'll be for emergency only as the water down there is limited (Note: I won't build them: I'll just pre-dig the channel except one tile that you'll dig if you need/want to; I don't want any forgotten beast in here for now). I'll just dig another tunnel in the aquifer for now.

I also began the construction of another slag pit and mandated to our glassmaker two green glass axe blade for a factory.

23rd Granite 304
Some migrants have arrived!
I'll add them to the inhabitants list, which follows.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The farmers told me that we are going to lack of food, and so I told them to build more farms: the majority for plump helmets, and the others for quarry bushes.

Alright, this is the end of the first update, I hope you enjoyed it. If you notice errors in my writing or if you've got any advices, feel free to tell me!

I've got a question. Is it normal that you can get two caravans at the same time? Right now I've got goblins and elves.

The goblins refuse to stop showing up. A good source of metal and cheap steel weaponry though. They seem to come whenever they feel like it, generally behind another caravan.
