New Updates Effect on Dwarf Mode
« on: August 12, 2012, 03:01:08 pm »

Will these footprints and tracking make it easier to spot ambushes? Will I be able to find that dreaded Necromancer hiding out in the forest? I really hope so.

Discuss.

Link?  Kind of difficult to discuss anything if we're not sure what you're on about.

Kie is talking about a Dev Log, I think the one on the 8th.

And there no hint how, if any of these tracking information will impact or be implemented into Fort Mode.

Maybe. I assume they'll need to get some pollutants on their feet first, like blood. Not much help really though, since the evidence of blood tends to have a source. Like Dwarves.

Who knows? Only one way to find out. Stealth ninjamancer fight!

I'm wondering something like this, will hunters look for prey tracks?

No, there will be crushed twigs and stuff supposedly, and footprints. Although, by the time you've found those, it will be a little late in helpfullness.

Crushed twigs underground on smooth stone cavern floors?

No, but maybe footprints from dirt or something. Why would a goblin ambush get underground? They should never get that far without detection!

Ok you got me there, but say we have the theoretically mad overseer or diggers get implemented, or you know, Kobolds...

Well, I hope it won't slow down fort mode even more (yea I know it's time to upgrade).
Sounds, like it'll be an upgrade to grass trampling system. Speaking of which, increase [grass_trample] in the goblin raws, and here you go: ambushers will leave a noticeable track.

Even when the goblins literally plow their way through the fields they are still invisible.

Imagine digging ambushers. I can see how the newbie's would scream in confusion over why half their fort is missing.

I was spotting goblins and kobolds trying to sneak into the fort on the surface level by visually noticing doors opening and closing by themselves.  Up until the point that the door opened was into a room containing a half-dozen war trained cave crocodiles...
