I always thought of sweet pods as some fruitlike bulb mushrooms on a central stalk, with a spongy mycelium exterior. On the inside would be moist, sweet mushroom, almost crystallized with sugar. As the sweet pod matures, the inside breaks down into thick, mushroom-tasting syrup.

Goblin meat would taste like soot and poo.

Any of us who came up in Public Schools will already have had horse meat.  Some of the ground meats in school lunches isn't entirely bovine, just saying.  Besides, horse is on the menu in many areas, just not openly in the US at least.

I'm picturing Pond Grabber somewhere more toward squid, with a hint of eel.  Prepare similarly to calimari.  Or, dried and smoked like jerky.

P.S. do want Sage as a "vanilla" grass type, or even shrub.  Adds good flavor to game meats and has craft potential.  Sage infused rock nut oil?  Add that to your roasts, yum!  Sage kitten tallow soap?  Good for the skin.

Horse is supposedly a leaner beef, and it's supposed to be relatively healthy.  But humans have some taboo against eating useful animals.  (Not like horses are useful these days but you'll still get odd looks)
