Clear out an area to make a small pile of non-food things and one for food.

Cut the tree down with the sturdy spear! No danger of breaking, I guess. If it breaks, we've always got more sap. Sap is now an universal problem solver.

The stress caused by the blow required to cause damage would overpower and shatter the spear, due to the length of the shaft.

I had the brief idea to make an entire shaft out of sap and just plonk a rock at the end. It is a silly idea. We must do it at one point.

But since that's impossible, what can we do with the spear? Would cutting a thick branch be doable if we did it carefully? Because a thick branch would probably be a better shaft than whatever stick we have for a handle now, and from there we can just hammer another sharp rock, combine sap, grass, the branch and said rock, and have something like an axe. Do we have any fireproof container, or materials to make said container out of? What are the trees around us, in the first place? There surely is something akin to maple around, but what we're looking for is white birch - so we can shamelessly peel all the bark it has and process it into rope, baskets, whatever else. From there, we can use the ropes to create traps, but from what I'm writing here it seems that's a long time from where we are now.

A lot of this implies that Earth flora are the same as this world's Flora. :D

So examine nearby trees, pay special attention to the bark and how it looks, feels, and comes off the trunks. If anything is appropriately paper-like, we can use that

Find a suitable rock to make a hand axe. With it, we could cut some wood, skin and gut animals, and have a generally useful tool.

That too, just a nice piece of rock that will hold an edge should work, no need for a fancy handle when you have one of the best natural levers already attached to your body.

Turn 10
Afternoon

You find a large flat rock, sharpen the end and start striking a tree with
all your strength. After some time, you find you're barely making progress
and you've wasted a substantial amount of time.

You go to the stream and wash your face. [I'd imagine y'all'd prefer to
design your appearance, as opposed to me coming up with it].
The stream is about a meter across, a brook, really. The bed of the stream
is riddled with smooth stones and pebbles, anchored weeds rippling downstream.

You think of clearing out the area, but there is actually very little you can clear
except for pulling weeds.

You examine the bark of nearby trees, but alas, the populace is mostly
one tree type that is smooth and thin, whilst another is thick and looks like
somebody has dragged a razor down the entire face of it.

You grab your previously found sharp rock and tie it to a sturdy short expanse
of branch. You then dig into the previous sap hole and draw more out, strengthening
the would-be axe.

Soon after, you put it to work against the smoother, thinner tree. After a few powerful
and well-aimed strikes, the fibres of the tree crackle and snap as it falls. Huzzah!

As the tree crashed to the floor, you hear low, slow bursts of deep, eerie groaning
nearby, the sound's origin distorted due to the thickness of the fog.

What do you do?

Turn 11

You wisely throw a fish into the fog and dive into a bush. The groaning recedes.

It would seem there are possibly dangers about you. Today, you got lucky from your quick thinking.

What do you do?

... If we have the reflexes to pull a fish out of the stream, let's get some lunch! Do it again!
