The wiki says it's only 14,000... and dolomite is 16,200. Adamantine is actually safe, too.

Edit: The dragon raws posted on the wiki don't say anything except "dragonfire" (no temp). In any case, nethercap can't change temp, so it seems safe even from 50,000...
The wiki was incorrect, and I've just updated it. The actual temperature was determined in this thread, and it was confirmed there that it will also melt adamantine after prolonged exposure.
Forgive me if this seems rude, but how can a one-page thread with conflicting information with the source of your information being you yourself be considered rigorous enough to go on the wiki (assuming you didn't post the raws to back it up on the wiki?)

Um... I thought he said he disassembled the binary and pulled out the hard-coded value. The fact that dragon body parts all melt at 52,000 or higher (see the raws) is more supporting evidence. It doesn't get much more rigorous than that. The thread he linked was mostly people arguing about whether their variously flawed setups had confirmed his finding, and the answer seemed to be "yes" (even adamantine will melt if exposed long enough, and it was already on the wiki that non-construction items don't feel the full brunt of dragonfire, so it's easy to see why arena mode tests would have suggested a lower temp).

A person can *say* anything: a tangible reference or verification from multiple people would be more rigorous.

1. Quietust has a long history of digging hard-coded stuff from disassembled DF binaries. He's usually right.
2. Urist daVinci claims to have seen adamantine armor melt off a blizzard man after long exposure to  dragonfire in arena mode. Try it yourself if you don't believe him.
3. Dragon raws suggest melting/boiling points of dragon parts were intentionally modified to make dragons immune to their own fire. From my own raws (which match the wiki):
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I'm satisfied at this point. I'll be sure to post an update if a dragon happens to wander into my flier grinder and melt my adamantine menacing spikes.

You need a lot of dragons to do this relatively quickly. About 20 should burn the armour off in short order, though either it doesn't affect armour on the floor or it takes a really long time to do so.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

I think there's a mention on the wiki that items on the floor don't take as much heat from dragonfire as upright things like creatures and buildings, tho who knows where that info came from and whether it's accurate. It does make sense, tho: something that blocks/absorbs the blast would tend to take more damage than something that only caught the edge as it whizzed by.

As was mentioned, my source was a disassembly of the game itself (which agreed with further experimentation), and there are no raws for dragonfire temperature.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.
