This is pretty amazing. I tried to do some painting myself, even when up to a couple of their paint sessions at their shop, but I lacked the patience to really do it.

The quantity of minis you are getting here for the price is astounding.

That's pretty dang sweet. If only I had the friends, money, and living space to justify building up a serious collection like this.

I was really tempted to get in on this. That's a whole lot of minis for really cheap (though free shipping is US only). I was seriously considering getting the 100 dollar package right on the spot when I found it.

But I've never used or seen these bone minis before. Watched a few youtubes of people unboxing/reviewing them and they seem to have the consistency of rubber. I mean they look like they hold detail well, and I guess it means you can re-pose them fairly easily. But I'm worried that the paint will come flaking off them due to their extreme bendiness.

 I have a few of the bones.  Primed they take paint really well.  Unprimed works as they claim and maybe I'm just oldschool, but I don't trust unprimed models.  I prefer the soft plastic, actually, for precisely the reason you mentioned.  Miniatures that have lasted the longest for me are always the softer plastic ones, because they are not rigid and brittle.

I should also mention that it's 106 DIFFERENT models for $100.  The actual figure count is probably more like 150-175, and keeps growing.
If you can't afford the $100, you can just pick up a huge lot of orcs, undead, or the dungeon grab bag for $15.  Still a fantastic deal.

I'll just mention that Reaper Series paints are the reason I continued to do model painting and terrain making. They're ssooooooo much better than GWS paints which are overflowing with latex and do not do any muted colors at all. Reaper Series paints (when I was buying) were much cheaper, applied better and generally had color ranges that didn't need significant amounts of mixing to take the eye-searing saturation out of them.

I've never used reaper paints, but they're automatically awesome because they share the dropper bottle design Vallejo use for their game/model colour lines (which is what I do use).

Though I've heard some of the new GW paints are pretty good. The foundation white is meant to have really great coverage, and some of the glazes/oils/whatever they're called are supposed to be cool too.

And thepodger, thanks for the info, I might end up getting in on this after all.

Don't badmouth Citadel paints too much. I have a really awesome-looking dwarf painted with those. I just wish I had a decent camera to take a picture of it.

Reaper's paints are capable of a lot more subtlety, I've found.  GW is great for when you want an exaggerated style, which I quite like for some things.  I used Vallejo until I discovered Reaper as well--dropper bottles are awesome!  And Reaper paints are a bit better than Vals imo.

I totally forgot about the dropper bottles. So sexy. It's almost like they care that this shit is expensive or something! ;P

How do you go about getting the optional packages?

I recently tried Testors Acrylic btw. Very good wear characteristics. As in, I can't wash the paint off my palette without abrasives. Of course I always clear-coat after to seal them, but still.

I just gave away the whole WH/GW thing. I could easily spend $100 next payday because something looks moderately amusing. Plus I found a spare box of GW stuff..........

I guess I'm going to buy this for a grab bag. I'm a horrible painter, but if I can chop/model, lighter-applied/join, make really cool plastic soldiers, I think this one has got me. No diorama stuff, just custom evils of the plastic variety.

Are they any good for people that customize models? I've got bits and stuff. How chopable and meltable are they?

These aren't on sprue, but If you're good with a knife and have some green stuff and plastic glue just about anything can make good bits.  The plastic is different than GWs, but they're  just as detailed and painted the difference would be hardly noticeable.  These are well suited for conversion or custom work because the material is more malleable.
