Not a report but, one of my dwarves was sent to carry a reacher corpse to the butcher workshop and that dwarf cancelled his work due to "undead reacher"

I have sitting at my desk a REAL BAG of iron-bearing rocks (exact composition unknown but they're rusty) I found on my gravel driveway which I used for reference. This is why this picture looks so stunningly photo-realistic.

2. Get iron.
3. Go mug a teacher for her/his chalk.
4. Burn down a tree.
5. Make steel.
6. Be arrested for string of bizarre crimes.
7. Escape using makeshift key fashioned from steel bar.

Smelting is hard.

Except my great-great-grandpa built a blacksmith's workshop on the farm that my other relatives still live on and there is tons of eighty-year-old stuff in there. I found this half-melted tin ingot and sixty pounds of coal and went all like *eye sparkle*

EDIT: Before you say "OMG DO IT BRAH", here is what you need to get pig iron. Hell, even the old-chimney-flue method only gets you a giant blob mixed with crap and rocks.

EDIT EDIT: I now really want to make an alternate metallurgy mod with way too many methods of doing anything. The plus side is that you could make wrought iron stuff

If you really want to start blacksmithing, find someone who does it near you. Coal is cheap.

That was the last thing he did though, the other dwarf finished stripping it and had it's way with the nasty little thing

ok... i just had a friggen unconcious dwarf decide it would be a good idea to "withdraw from society", in a dreamworld maybe? that would be away from society! She has a broken leg too! so she needs help getting to where she wants to go anyway.
