make the Nano-fiber vest, using Dr Shen's special technique, the other like a regular shirt.

DR Shen, you magnificent bastard

He takes a bite of the sandwich.

"Thank you, catering team!"

(Thoughts)

assessment: they have the Crimson Dagger UFO splashed in 1993, along with the live Sectoid we stunned. I was wondering who got it from those crazy USMC guys.*

Weapons assessment: there will be prototype laser rifles, but they won't be effective for widespread manufacture so one squad will have them. Their base has security stations with MGs in strategic positions for an outside attacker. Heh, outside. Infantry will have M4s or MP5s

Armour assessment: apart from Omega Squad with their fancy prototypes, basic Earth made Kevlar. Useless even against an M6D Magnum handgun.

Overall: interesting opportunities to troll Canadian world domination plans by messing with some stuff. But last time I tried such Bond-esque badassery, I had minor pains for a few weeks. If I were on the offensive, I could knock this off on a lazy Sunday. But since I am on the inside, unarmed, unarmoured, and not even a good damn Psionic or Shouter, I am pretty screwed.

(End thoughts)

other me

"I can speed this up. You guys have satcom?"

*Operation Crimson Dagger was a follow-up to the shooting down if a UFO, however, it was not the first, nor shall it be the last, UFO to have landed or crashed on Earth. The squad of USMC troops, backed up by a rather quaint fellow wearing odd clothes, managed to kill the crew and stun a single crewman. It was widely believed that it either went to Area 51 (Containing the original 1946 and 1955 Roswell UFOs, recovered by a special USAF unit, with the motto 'Vigilo Confido'. The rumours and conspiracies if alien craft are in fact, hybrid craft.

It was later determined, with the creation of the oddly named XCOM, (name suggested by someone 'who knows their shit, so shut up, they are XCOM, and you have to have a giant light behind you to hide your face.) that these were small intercepted scouts assessing Humanity as a whole is a threat.

Sir Havel the Unyielding

Sir Havel's words almost seem to surprise the head shrinekeeper. "Does it...? Speak, noble warrior. What is your purpose here?"

Hisir Namedene

Sirith finds Hisir's efforts commendable, and graciously decides to answer his loyal servant's call for assistance. A swirling vortex of shadows starts to form on the floor in the center of the hall. Hisir instantly recognizes that a portal is being opened for him, and is greatly relieved by the fact that his escape from the prison now seems imminent...

...Of course, fate seldom allows these sort of things to be that easy. Just as the portal is fully manifested, a team of armed officers burst into the hall. Pointing both their flashlights and their firearms at the Chosen One, they begin to shout aggressively at him and the prisoners. "Drop your weapons and get on the ground NOW!"

The prisoners immediately hold their hands up in the air and look to Hisir while Shade barks wildly at the officers, ready to attack at the slightest display of violence toward his master.

Jorn Darkmane

The Chosen One wanders around the settlement a little more and, fortunately enough, stumbles upon a seemingly barren field with light tree coverage on all sides and no apparent residences nearby; a doubtlessly fine place to conduct a dark summoning ritual.

With a suitable spot picked out, Jorn keeps watch for any sight of his boggart. Who, if all goes well, should be arriving with the requested supplies before much longer...

The Moderator(s)

Under the vigilant surveillance of the two soldiers (along with whatever security cameras happen to be fixated on him at the moment), The Moderator sets his sandwich aside and begins work on the vest...

Other-Moderator

"Yep. But how is that going to help make the trip any faster?"

Hisir Namedene

Hisir concentrates his powers, and creates a thick veil of shadows to conceal him and the prisoners from the police officers. As the officers start threatening to open fire, the Chosen One turns to the inmates and tells them to enter the portal. Unfortunately, with the pressure and uncertainty of the situation quickly rising, a couple of them begin having second thoughts, and ultimately, two of the freed prisoners make a last-second decision to stay behind. Luckily, Hisir and Shade are  able to escape through the portal with the other six before bullets start to fly.

The Chosen One and his companions soon find themselves in a completely dark, cold room. While the prisoners fugitives struggle to find their way around the room in the total blackness, Hisir takes a moment to observe his surroundings:
The room itself doesn't appear to hold much besides some dusty boxes. There is a set of stairs leading up to a doorway on the other side of it, though.

The Moderator(s)

"Is that safe...?" One of the soldiers asks somewhat worriedly.

"Doesn't matter. We'll have to check in with HQ before we can even consider doing anything other than what was outlined in the briefing." Another responds.

Try to create a dark flame and extract the essence after, so a normal flame remains.

Jorn Darkmane

After a period of uneventful waiting, the Chosen One finally spots his boggart arriving in the distance. The creature (very) slowly heads toward him as it struggles to drag a large laundry bag of unknown contents across the barren field...

Hisir Namedene

Despite his best efforts, Hisir is unable to create any dark flames to extract the essence from, likely due to having no normal flames around to begin with. After all, creating something from nothing is a difficult task, even for beings of exceptional potency.
That said, the Chosen One has noticed that he's felt much more connected to the dark energies of Sirith, and much greater strength in his own abilities in general since his daring prison break took place only a short time ago. An unusual, though certainly not unwelcome sensation...(+Badassery)

Just then, an excited fugitive calls out to the others in the room, "Hey, I think I found the light switch!" Suddenly, several old lights hanging the ceiling flicker on, allowing the Chosen One's less darkness-adapted companions to finally see their way around the area.

The Moderator(s)

One of the soldiers goes over to ask the pilot to contact their superiors at Black Maple and inform them of The Moderator's offer. The other passengers in the helicopter overhear a discussion going on for a while, before the soldier comes back to sit down. "Well, they're interested. But they want us to wait until we reach our checkpoint in PNG."

Estimated time passed: 20 minutes.

16:35 remain.

Jorn Darkmane

Wisely wanting to ensure that all of the required supplies have been procured before he sets up the ritual, Jorn walks over to his boggart and opens the bag. As soon as he does so, a small, yellow-faced bird flies out, startling the warlock. Luckily, his minion leaps up and catches the fleeing avian before it can get away.
Gazing into the laundry bag, one thing that immediately becomes clear to the Chosen One is that the boggart collected far more than just what was requested; it's actually a bit surprising that it was able to fit so much inside the bag without it tearing open somewhere.

lacking much other option (at least, if he wants to get his summoning ritual underway anytime soon), Jorn begins to search through the mess of miscellaneous items...

The Moderator(s)

"I can't, but he shouldn't have any problems with it." The soldier responds, nodding over to the pilot.

Hisir Namedene

Shade and the fugitives follow Hisir up the stairs. The Chosen One quietly opens the door at the top of the staircase, and discovers that the doorway leads into a hall. A hall that, from the looks of it, he would guess is part of a very lovely and quite possibly already inhabited house.

The door directly across from Hisir is open, and appears to lead into a bedroom. Another door further down the hall is closed, though a soft humming noise can be heard coming from the room on other side of it. There's a closed door at the end of the hall as well, while the other end opens up into what looks like the main area of the house.

"Okay. I am going to go to the co-pilot seat very slowly, so please don't perforate me."

The Moderator gets up very slowly, and shifts to the copilot seat. He dons the headset, and tunes the radio to frequency 133.7

"Enigma, I know you can hear me. You need to launch Hyperion. No, I know you fixed the fuel mix. Don't bullshit me, I know it has been fixed. Good."

As he shifts back to his seat, he pipes up to the troops.

"Thanks for not gunning me down. Anyone got any good games to pass the time?

Jorn Darkmane

Once finished with going through the contents of the overstuffed laundry bag, Jorn does a final assessment of everything that his boggart brought back to him:

A small bird, an assortment of random books, a wide variety of pretty (in the boggart's opinion, at least) rocks, several cooking pots, a few handfuls of silverware, a bag of potatoes, bag of apples, a couple of bananas, a carton of eggs, a half-carton of milk, small containers of a number of different spices (cayenne pepper, black pepper, garlic powder, and (most importantly) salt), two screwdrivers, a rusty crowbar, some (mostly unbroken) light bulbs, a soccer ball, an alarm clock, two wallets, a cellphone, a...uhm...'adult toy', a pair of working boots, four pairs of socks, an old leather coat, half a box of shotgun shells, a can of coffee grounds, a houseplant, a family portrait, a harmonica, a lighter, a pack of cigarettes, a small set of finely crafted toy horses, a horseshoe, a (living) frog, and one very aloof domestic cat. Judging by all of the elegant and expensive looking bling that the boggart is now adorned with, there's a good chance it raided someone's jewelry box as well.

The Moderator(s)

"...Twenty Questions?"

Hisir Namedene

Hisir and his posse step out into the hall, and proceed to spend a good amount of time snooping throughout the residence.
From what they can tell, a dining area, kitchen, and a spacious living room (where the front door to the building is also found) make up the central area of the house. The Chosen One also locates another staircase that leads up to a second floor, which contains a bedroom, study, and bathroom.

Having walked through most the household without running into any inhabitants of it, Hisir & friends return to the hall to continue with their exploration. Since it's now obvious that the area they originated in was the house's basement, and the bedroom across from it's doorway doesn't hold anything particularly eye-catching, the next place down the hall to check out is the room with the soft humming noise coming from it.
Hisir walks up to the closed door of the room, and reaches out to turn the doorknob. Just before he can, however, the doorknob does so on its own. Time almost seems to slow down when he and the fugitives instantly realize that such a phenomenon that can only mean one thing:
The house is haunted The door is being opened from the other side.
