a partial skeleton is sat in a room, ive placed caskets and assigned a tomb, but the body still sits there. also tried to get the dwarfs to dump it but that doesnt work. its sat in the craftdwarfs workshop which nobody seems to want to work in, which i think might be because of the body

It sounds like it might be some sort of access issue. Is a/the workshop somehow blocking off the entrance to the room? there are only a couple of squares (the open ones) in a workshop that dwarves can actually move on/through, so if you set them up wrong, they can block off a room. It might just be that your dwarves can't reach the workshop to work, or the skeleton to move it.

ahhhh thats it. i assumed the dwarfs could just walk through a room like that. it seems like they can walk through stockpiles tho

when building a workshop you'll see darx x's and bright x's. The dark ones are impassible

Yep, stockpiles aren't a problem, even if they're full stockpiles of furniture or rock or whatever. Workshops can block access though.
