It's a pretty good alpha build and ship design is HARD! The UI takes a little time to get comfortable with but it's really pretty cool. I wonder if the other parts of the game are possible. I have no reason to doubt it, it's just so different from this ship designer that I wonder about the engine's limitations. Either way, I am upping my contribution to his IndieGoGo campaign because I like the possibilities.

Why not windows?

I mean I use both Windows and Linux, and sometimes even Mac (-shudder-) but I prefer windows by far for most things. If you know what you're doing and don't bloat your OS with a bunch of crap, Windows is plenty stable and works just fine. Each OS has some things they do better than the others, so really it comes down to personal preference.

because all my windows pc are currently quite a distance from me right now and I have tho make up with this macbook for a while. parallels give access to most games, but mouse emulation is incredibly wonky (super slow movements etc)

On the actual game, I ran it and aside from the humorous bugs like the font being tiny and all the buttons flashing rapidly, the current... "game" is undoable.  The only objective currently available is to make a cargo ship.  No matter how you arrange it or how you squeeze the parts, you physically cannot achieve all the goals.  Specifically, you can't add everything it wants and still stay under the crew limit.  All I can surmise is that you don't actually need the whole crew.  Your pilots probably need to be on the bridge, but I guess the tech crew is capable of going from one place to another to handle things?  There's no way to tell, since there's no mission to test it on.

Also worth noting that you can load some examples, and neither of the ones included meet the requirements, so apparently the devs can't do it either.

Did we ever get a straight answer?  Is this going to be a full-scale game, or is it going to be a series of pointless missions with no real continuity?

I agree with this completely.  I have absolutely no idea why people tie themselves to a single platform.

Well, no, I do know why they do, but I disagree with the rationale.

I noticed this too. Having played around and eventually figuring out how corridors work, it looks like necessary stuff definitely pushes you over the limit for crew. I can't seem to meet all the objectives and I haven't found anything that reduces crew.

They hit the goal for the online mode now (although it doesn't show on the IndieGoGo page, since they include other donations on their site).

Wow, I honestly did not expect much from this alpha (glitches ahoy!), but the crew management tab was just delicious. Giving various number of points depending on their performance in a given situation? Yes please. Let's hope their don't butcher the only good-looking feature until release...

Well, no surprise there.

Edi2: okay, somehow got it to work. I wish I didn't. This is SO. FUCKING. BAD. Glitches, typos, bugs, clunky interface, ATROCIOUS non-mutable from in-game music... name it, this "game" got you covered.

You can turn off the music ingame (or at least make it quiet enough so that my other music drowned it out), click the options button on the main menu.

I meant without exiting to the main menu.

Which is two (6ish if you count saving) clicks away from anywhere you can get in the current version.

There are BUGS in an alpha of a game? My word, I must retrieve my monocle. Careful it's rolling under the couch.
