Progressively more horrid dreams and et cetera
« on: August 04, 2012, 06:11:25 pm »

Seriously here,I think my sanity is collapsing.
My dreams aren't usually vivid unlike other people, but lately it's horrifying.
I remember once I even had a dream-like experience while awake.
Also,something else that doesn't help calm my nerves;
So one day I was pretty hungry and decided to go to Sonic for some food.
I got my usual stuff, went home, ate it and went back to my room to drink my soda.
I sat up in my bed,and suddenly everything blacked out without any warning.
All I remember that happened was my "dreams" during that were truly mind fucking.
Psychologist doesn't think much of it.

I remember being on antibiotics and every night for five days a nightmare. I think 3 or 4 of them were the apocalypse, one of them was related to 1984, I died in one of them. That one involved Christianity, and I remember very little of it, besides apparently being good enough to go to heaven. The last of the nightmares involved, basically, a dictator with an egyptian theme going on (presumably because of the Danny Phantom episode my little brother was watching), who intended to mass execute pretty much everybody (DF?). So, I was told by some voices in my head to go to the swamp biome with a spruce wood log and oak wood shack that was like fifty meters away from the desert we were in (Minecraft). There I hid for like three minutes. Then the REALLY weird shit happened. I wish I could make this up.

Terezi taught me an unknown fighting style and I had to save people from being blasted by wind untill they were turned into dustby machines that looked like they belonged in Quake 4.

Yes.

They usually started out as nightmares and became gradually better.

Learn to lucid dream, throwing a fireball at Azagthoth has never been as satisfying!
Theres this site that helped me alot, google Dreamviews.

Sad thing is that my current wake/sleep cycle dosent have much space for practicing lucid dream excersises.

Are you ill or on medication? I remember having some weird-ass fever dreams back in the day. The only thing I can recall from them is that they involved numbers going through basic arithmetic, but the numbers could be "smooth" or "rough." It was weird.

That said, I think learning to lucid dream would be good for you, regardless of whether your psychologist is right or not. Learning to lucid dream can start with something as easy as just keeping a dream journal and reading through it every so often to look for recurring themes. Plus, then, we could look at them and analyze them better if you wrote them down, since we usually forget dreams pretty quickly after we wake up.

I've had fever dreams before. They aren't fun. The last one I remember was when I was twelve, and it was a fairy, a biker and a willowy-built woman all moving around a small maypole-type thing during a serious episode of influenza. They went between appearing all bright and cheerful and evil looking. Then I remember them stating something in some language; I don't know what it was, I don't know what it sounded like; it sounded alien to any language I knew of at the time (at the time, I could identify Chinese, Vietnamese, English and Indonesian based on the way it sounded- ie. Oh, you're speaking 'chinese'.) and then they'd disappear.
Then it would repeat all over again.
It continued for hours, and then I woke up.

As for your 'horrifying' dreams, it could be your subconscious trying to tell you something. I used to get vividly violent dreams as a result of the crap inflicted on me in highschool (ever been ambushed, handcuffed and used as a human bike ramp? not fun.) - I worried about them for a long time until I asked my father (a practising Buddhist) what to do, and he told me to try and modify my diet; eating more protein and less sugar and fats. That helped a little.
Meditating also helped, but that's not necessarily for everyone.

Finally, any kind of exercise is useful. I found martial arts useful, as well as bushwalking. Both released endorphins that calmed my mind down when it was overactive, and if you're very tired you don't spend as much time dreaming. :P

eh, nightmares have never been a problem for me; I learnt very early how to shape and control my dreams.

My first real nightmare was when I was like 5; I lived in an old renovated farmhouse and there was this massive weird shaped antique brass framed mirror on the way to the bathroom.

Think something like that, without the S's. The c was the head, some kind of weird lion-ish decoration, the top two ~s arms.

Imagine going for a piss in the middle of the night and seeing the moonlight reflect off it.
Then getting back to bed and imagining it towering over you, corner-hands reaching out to devour your soul.

Yeah, thanks to that particular mental scar I've been a lucid dreamer ever since.
Now if any of my dreams piss me off enough I just crush the sky and watch them scream, cower and flee.

Sidenote: I've been suffering from audiotory hallucinations recently, probably stress related-- but I have no control over them whatsoever. Sometimes I hear people whispering, calling or shouting my name just to screw with me. Seriously, I've been walking through town, heard my name and turned around to look and there's no-one on the goddamn street.

i just had a extreme dream , it was the end of the world where a terrifying disease was spreading over the world , the disease was like whenever someone falls asleep , he starts walking around with eyes closed and then attacking and biting anything that moves also his arms turn into huge carrot like things that are very sharp and the disease spreads when you get bitten by someone that is infected .
i was in a camp that had huge (about 20 metres high) steel walls that blocked the infected , i lost my compass and i went to find it , i somehow climbed over the wall and then got swarmed by millions of the monsters .

i had the same dream before like 5 years , only then i went over the wall to find my pants and then i got ambushed by one infected man , i was running away from him , i don't know why but he was carrying a baby , the baby grabbed me by the neck and i woke up .

Uh, this might be bad advice in general, but in my experience the most straight forward way to stop having lucid dreams is to cut your sleeping hours. Of course, there are a lot of bad side effects to that, but it works for me usually.

Mind, my dreams are very rarely unpleasant, so I've been trying to do the opposite recently, but...

The person supporting regenerating health, when asked why you can see when shot in the eye justified it as 'you put on an eyepatch'. When asked what happens when you are then shot in the other eye, he said that you put an eyepatch on that eye. When asked how you'd be able to see, he said that your first eye would have healed by then.

For some reason I keep having dreams about Richard Stallman.  In the last one, we were at a concert and we sang the Free Software Song in protest for some reason.

I haven't figured out how to stop them, it's rather terrifying because they are extremely vivid.

I get world downfall dreams, quite often, i see myself sitting/standing at cliff and looking how bombs explode from far distance, or sitting/standing on cliff and looking at what once used to be a giant city.
