Jared looks around with his surrounding.

Or, more accurately, he sees a bit of the surrounding area while fixing his hair and looking into the mirror.

He spots something shiny and runs over to se what it is.

Rukukin will show that he has no weapons or anything that's dangerous. He only kept the stick, in-case he had to hunt. He offers that the soldiers can bind his arms, if they would only help him get out of this cursed desert!

((Brilliant Crazy Old Man dialogue, there.))

Old Alan will continue down the road of life. And also the actual road. There are plenty of fish in the sea, and some of them aren't fish, but opportunities. Or possibly mollusks. Also, dolphins.

Arg. I may as well retire if I don't make a good effot at this fight.

Grit teeth and stab back. In his face!

Turn eight.

Jake searches for something to eat.  [3-2] He finds something looking to eat him instead.  A dire bear, to be specific.  [5] Fortunately, the dire bear hasn't noticed Jake yet.

Jared wanders absentmindedly as he fixes his hair in the mirror.  Being beaten unconscious in a gladiator pit and dumped out in nature for a few days will apparently damage your 'do, who knew?
[4+1] He suddenly spots something glinting behind him in the mirror.  He runs over to investigate; it turns out to be a rusty iron spear and a coin purse!  Also, the skeletal remains of somebody's leg, but Jared leaves that one alone.

Rukukin carefully puts his pointy stick down and puts his hands up, palms out.  [2] An offer to let the soldiers bind him, if they're only take him out of the desert, is rebuffed; they tell him they're on an important scouting mission, and they can't afford to take anyone with them, prisoner or not.

Old Alan continues down the road, mumbling to himself about seafood.  [6+2] Eventually, he stumbles back upon the noble family from earlier, having taken an interesting side road that apparently looped back around to where he started.

Eggen grits his teeth and ignores the pain and blood loss.  [3+1-1]vs[3+2] He takes a clumsy stab at the spearman's face but it's expertly parried, and Eggen is shoved back.  [6] He manages to stay inside the ring, but now he's facing the wrong way.

For now, Jared cleans the area of the spear he'll be holding it by with his tunic, and Uses it as a walking stick for the time being.

He treks deeper into the forest, using his mirror to light a bit of a path.

((Also, what was the +1 for?))

The different areas have various bonuses and penalties for finding some things.

Rukukin will accept that, and bid the soldier's good luck. He'll carry on his way, walking...Somewhere.

Only one thing for it, thought Eggen…

Wait until the bandit approaches for a finishing blow and then spin round and stab him right in the face!
