This is a predictable subterfuge aimed at diverting attention from Zynga's persistent plagiarism of other artists and studios. Zynga would be better served trying to hold onto the shrinking number of employees they've got, rather than suing to acquire more

Wow, that's... amazing! Point, EA!

This is already living up to all my expectations, and we're not even in court yet!

so, playground insult match before coming to blows?

smells just like primary school!
To better expand this analogy, this is like watching the extremely strong may-or-may-not-be-a-psychopath kid beat up the scrawny jackass who steals from everyone while they aren't looking.

We can't lose! At least not until the winner feels invincible and goes on a murderous/theiverous rampage amongst all the bystanders...

In the words of Tommy Wiseau, 'That's lyfe'

Anyways, my take on this situation is two companies with poor PR and management are slinging lawsuits and mud at each other in an attempt to make themselves look good, which judging by the majority of the posts here, it isn't working.

Man I hope this continues in the open air. Hearing big companies trash each other is a lot of fun, and will vanish once they go into court and all of this is (likely) settled and wrapped up with a nice NDA to protect all parties.

I RAISE THEE, THREAD ONCE DEAD
For some tangentially related news:
http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/180005/Breaking_Mass_layoffs_closures_at_Zynga.php#.UIdL9cXA8tT
Zygra dropping 5% (100+) of its employees, shutting several satellite studios, etc, ahead of a bad earnings report to be released tomorrow. Also in the bunch, The Ville will have greatly reduced support; 13 older games moving towards being shut down.

I saw a commercial for "Hungry Hungry Farm animals" which is a Farmville clone of Hungry Hungry Hippos.

It was... really silly... but I can't complain since it doesn't look like they skimped on anything.

Even so, if it IS a clone of Hungry Hungry Hippos, it would still be copyright infringement (Wikipedia: "Hungry Hungry Hippos is a tabletop game made for young children, currently produced by Hasbro, under the brand of its subsidiary, Milton Bradley. The idea for the game was published in 1967 and it was introduced in 1978.")

I looked up the cash flow of Hasbro and EA to compare them:
http://www.wikinvest.com/stock/Hasbro_(HAS)/Data/Cash_Flow_Statement#Cash_Flow_Statement
http://www.wikinvest.com/stock/Electronic_Arts_(EA)/Data/Cash_Flow_Statement#Cash_Flow_Statement

And in examining EA's, discovered that I totally don't understand what the hell is going on in there. It looks like tricks to make them look more profitable than they really are? Why would you count depreciation as positive cash gained? Nobody pays me because my computer is gradually becoming obsolete, why would a company get to claim that kind of thing as positive cash flow?

well considering the hasbro logo in commercial, they're probably together on it.

Admittingly I like the idea of the Farmville version more... I just don't like the connection to Farmville.

It is not that simple. Depreciation actually shows a decrease in earnings, so it really balances that 'increased' cash flow. No tricks involved. In fact it actually helps someone to get an idea of the company's position better...

I'm happy that Zyanga is doing badly, but I'm sad that people are losing jobs.
