The Official forums are here

It looks like someone finally got so tired of the dead, glassy-eyed reptiles in Spore and decided to see if they could make the E3 version.

While I doubt they'll finish anything too good for a while, a little extra traffic would likely help speed up the process, and Bay 12 is likely to support this kind of Programming megaproject. It looks good.

I havn't checked out the whole site yet (it's 6:00 AM) but from the forums everyone seems fairly on task, brainstorming ideas for pretty much everything. It'll be neat to see how much goes into the game.

You can play as a plant.

Isn't that just a forum filled with suggestions? I doubt they even have a coder.

You can play as a plant.
Does that mean they have a working prototype, or is this just a planned feature?

No posts have been made in the hard development section since June.  Doesn't look like anyone was actually doing any real work anyway.

Yeah, another "hey guys i have great idea, just need artist coder level designer and someone to pay for everything dont worry im ideas guy"

Helped on their forums for a while. They had a bit too much megalomania going on wanting to do a complete simulation of lots of things, just unfeasible design. Also yeah, no coders.

I really want that one as a "when". I want "grubs", and "virgin woman" to turn into a dragon. and monkey children to suddenly sprout wings. And I want the Dwarven Mutant Academy to only gain their powers upon reaching puberty. I also have a whole host of odd creatures that only make sense if I divide them into children and adults.

Also, tadpoles.

Ah, so there IS a thread for this. I think they've made...some progress? Not quite sure, but I'll be checking it again at the end of the year.

Forgive me if I don't hold my breath. At least freaking Infinity has demo footage and stuff.

Ask and ye shall receive.

Basically the space MMO version of Thrive; been in the works for ages, no sign of a public release.

Huh. Kickstarter in 2013 though.
I have to admit I'm interested, but it sounds (at least in theory) a lot like that EVE Online game that I can't play due to not wanting to pay monthly. Still, I honestly hope both of these games get released, though I ain't holding my metaphorical breath.

If I remember correctly, Thrive was a hoax, then fans created a forum about it trying to make it for real.

Unfortunately, they didn't know programming so all they did was theorize and hope someone would make it for them. Which is the worst thing you can do in the programming world ever.
