Pets and their effect on dwarf emotion
« on: August 02, 2012, 02:07:46 pm »

Does a pet going missing for a week have the same effect on emotion as the death of one? I ask this because a goblin siege hit when every animal I had (including pets) were outside. All the dwarves were inside, so none know they were whipped to shreds, and I've kept them locked inside so they don't see their dead pets and start a tantrum spiral. Everyone just knows they've been missing for a week.

IIRC dwarves will remain blissfully ignorant of their pet/children's fates unless the body is found.

Ah, sorry, I meant will them going missing have the same effect as them being found dead. If not, I'm never letting the citizens of Dippedrope see the light of day again.

Your assumption is correct.  Missing triggers no bad thoughts, keep em all locked up :)
