To be be fair I don't care much for the name "DayZ" the lack of space is really annoying, like it's a 14 year old replacing the letter S with Z all the time. Not to mention I have to hear someone say "Day Zee" all the time as oppose to "Day Zed". Curse you Webster!

As an American, when I hear/read "zed", all I can think of people using it as a euphemism for zombies because they liked that one movie more than I did. It is unfortunate.

I personally don't like the title "The War Z" simply because of the awkward existence of the word "the". If it was just War Z, I would like it better. And if DayZ was actually The DayZ, then I wouldn't like that title. I don't like the "the", and that's that.

That's basically what I've been complaining about, yeah. "War Z" or even "The Z War" would sound less awkward to me. Granted, I think the whole title is sort of cliche, which is possibly a better point to make in the first place.

Which movie? I'm not really all that versed in zombie media.

I was under the impression that people started calling zombies Zs/Zeds because of "Shaun of the Dead". I could be very wrong.

I watched that movie only a few months back and I honestly can't remember them referring to the zombies in anyway except for the whole "don't call them that Z-word!". That could just be my really terrible memory though.
Pretty sure the whole shortened to Z thing has been around for ages. I've been using it since I was a teenager or so. Maybe it's became more popular in the rather strange trend of zombie themed media popping up.

In case anyone hasn't seen it; this is apparently War Z's engine. Looks pretty meh in it's current form, but that can change I suppose.

Also, I always liked to call them "Zombos".

I always preferred "Zack" myself.  Nothing like giving a name to your enemy, like Kraut or Tojo.  Ah, good ol' wartime racial slurs!  At least Zack won't sue us for intollerance.

Hey, he spelled it differently so technically it doesn't count.

Short, uncut gameplay video(not the trailer, which will also include gameplay). is at the top of the OP. Trailer isn't out yet.

Aside from the vague sense of staging that permeates the video I'm excited to play this. The weapons customisation looks really fun, it looks to be quite atmospheric, and the inventory system is streets ahead (get the reference and get a cookie) of ARMA 2's.

The inside of buildings look fairly detailed, though that's nowhere near as important as the size of the map. Considering this is the first glimpse of the game though I'm cautiously optimistic.
