Damn, my mother swears she knows him. This is possible since she used to work on the shuttles.

The silence in the control room is sort of eerie.

Well, it actually has stuff in it which isn't silent video of people staring at computers. Bunch of scientists & bloggers hanging out and having discussions about space stuff.

Haha, that's awesome. NASA didn't want JPL's name on the rover, so they designed the wheel treads to have holes which would spell out 'JPL' in morse code. So as Curiosity goes across the surface of Mars, it will be writing 'JPL' on mars over and over again. Win.

That's my line!

ONE HOUR REMAINS UNTIL LANDING

Also, Odyssey is currently turning as to communicate with Curiosity. It will be sending real-time telemetry of the landing, assuming nothing goes wrong.

SQUEE
I did a year and a half long project a couple years ago. What we did was take high-resolution images of mars' surface and counted the craters to determine the relative age against other areas. We ended up determining that Olympus Mons was slightly younger than Elysium. We also got to determine our own coordinates to have the satellite take a picture for us.

Every dwarf, every dwarven man, women, and child, that comes to our forts will die there; it's truly sad when you think about it. And we ask our selves, why? Why do we push forward, knowing this fate, that we are destined for failure? Because, this game grasps the concept of mortality. Some games you can never lose, but we all stop eventually, causing a 'death' to those game's 'worlds'. Dwarf Fortress gives us a definite end, knowing that we will leave that world eventually, and move on to more.
