Would it be at all allowed to use two shields at the same time? Preferably, would it be allowed to use one gigantic shield that can be split in two and reconnected?

If you have two shields, are agile enough, are strong enough, and have enough skill, yes.
You'll have to invent a "gigantic shield that can be split in two and reconnect"

Edit: Nobody want acting skill to decieve goblin and koblods and such? wow.

@GM, Question: How does the relation between Shield Using and Dodging plays? Is there any problem or advantage in taking both?

"Hey steve." You speak into the air.
>Yes?
"Could you guys also make a hamburger out of this arm when they cut it off? I wanted to eat it just for the sake of tasting it."
>That is horrible and disgusting. It will no doubt set you apart and create fear in your team mates. So of course.

Wait, so if we start off trained in a skill, we get some basic equipment?

Huh, if I could edit my character sheet, could I turn my excess money into agility points? I guess I got the costs for the training years mixed up.

You may edit your character sheet whenever you want while in waitlist; make sure to PM me though.(Don't forum post, it makes a bunch of extra pages. just modify and PM me.)

edit:
@GM, Question: How does the relation between Shield Using and Dodging plays? Is there any problem or advantage in taking both?

You first try to dodge, then if it failed, you try to block. If that fails, you get injured. The only disadvantage to taking those is that both are made a bit less likely due to the extra weight of the shield and change of stance when you try to dodge; that stance you try to go in makes blocking harder.
You can specify a change in that during the turn for that turn; that is, you don't try to dodge.

Roll To Adventure! - Turn 0
« Reply #27 on: August 01, 2012, 03:17:38 pm »

Turn 0 – The Beginning

Granite 1, 251

At Ceyecanethitha, “Chance Squids”, Forest Retreat

Mahtan Anarion’s Tree

Mahtan woke up from sleep. He yawned as he read a note his mother put on his bed.

   Mahtan, you graduate from the
Adventurer’s Guild today!

“Huh? Oh, the guild! It’s Granite!”
Mahtan quickly changed to his day clothes and ran down the stairs. He made his way to the door and remembered that he can get free stuff from the graduation.

He made his way to the guild, quickly, because he was a bit late.

“Attention! Today is the graduation ceremony. We wish all graduates good luck as adventurers and would like to thank all parents, guardians, and guests for coming.”

“Now, to present the diplomas.”

After quite some time, the elder calls Mahtan.

“Mahtan Anarion! Here is one hundred dollars and your certificate.” (note that there is no certificate picture available.)

After you walk down and the graduation ends, the Guildmaster approaches you.

“You may receive a Bow and a Quiver of a hundred arrows, a Wooden Sword, a Wooden Shield, five Wooden Blocks, and a Book.”

What will you choose?

In Liwaalisa, “Strike Bud”, Forest Retreat

Alana Teucer’s Tree

Alana woke up this morning from her sister running upstairs and dumping a bucket of water on her.
“Ack! Why did you do that!?”
“It’s graduation day, dummy!”
“I’m not dumb!”
“Yes you are!”
“Oh yeah? Let’s see who can write faster and better.”
“Uhh… never mind.”

Alana went to get a towel as her sister went and got her some clothes.
After she dried herself and changed, she went downstairs.

“Can I go with you to graduation?”
“Sure…”

They both went to the guild.

“Adventurers! Today, some of you will be graduating! Good luck to the graduates! To the parents, guardians, and guests, thank you for coming! We will now present the diplomas.”

After some time, Alana is called.

“Alana Teucer! Here’s a hundred dollars and your certificate.”

After the graduation ceremony ends, you are approached by the Guildmaster.

“You may receive a Bow and Quiver of a hundred arrows, a Book, three Wooden Blocks, and or one Disguise.”

What will you choose?

At Nishvukrig, “Trade Drifts”, Mountain Home

“Spring has arrived!”
“Yeeeeeaahhhh! Another year!”

All of the dwarves were in the meeting area, celebrating.

“And for this year, we’ve had ten million dollars in made wealth!”

After the party was disbanded, Fekod Sladeborn remembered: It was the first of Granite! That meant that he might graduate from the Adventurer’s Guild! He ran so quickly through the halls (which wasn’t that quick), he slammed into a dwarf named Cero Undulai. It turned out that he was also going to graduate.

“Woah! Be more careful!”
“Sorry… a bit excited.”

They both made their way to the barracks. Very slowly.

“Okay! So, some of you here will be graduating. I have a list here of who is.”

The Military Commander started reading off names.

“… Fekod Sladeborn, Cero Undulai… are all going to graduate!”
“L HAHJKL HASLHFKLAHSGH L;AHSLFH LASHL GHFL;ASD;GF”(to be interpreted as twenty dwarves celebrating and thirty dwarves cursing)
“Quiet down! QUIET DOWN!!! Ok, the graduates may pick up some items that they have skill in. Non-graduates, you are dismissed!”

Fekod scans the rows, points out an armor stand and a weapon rack that has Cero’s name on them, then goes to his own.

The weapon rack contains nothing.
The armor stand, however, contains a breastplate, a helm, a pair of leggings, a pair of boots, two gauntlets, and two shields, all steel. The gauntlets have a spike that can be shot out at the press of a button and has a string attached to it.

Cero’s weapon rack contains a steel hammer and a copper pick.
His armor stand contains a steel shield and a steel breastplate.

What will you choose?

At Jonicmon, “Basement Holy”, Capital

Gregory Gianovich awoke in his quarters of the Adventurer’s Guild. He’d been partners with Stalith Ngirathil for a few years during their time at the Adventurer’ Guild, who was sleeping in the bed across an armor stand. He looked at the wall above the bed, and realized: It was March 1, the Graduation Day!

“Stalith! Wake up, wake up! It’s Graduation!”
“zzzzzzzzz”
“WAKE UP! IT’S GRADUATION!”
“AHH! Holy… don’t scare me like that!”
“But it’s graduation day!”
“Graduation day?”
“March the first. Remember? The Guildmaster said that there would be graduation today. He said we had a high chance of graduating, remember?”
“Oh yeah…”

The men start their day, eat a breakfast, and get ready to go.

“Remember to bring everything you need with you, Stalith!”
“Yeah, I will – ”
Stalith cheched his watch.
“Holy! It’s aready ten! We’re going to be late!”
“Hurry!”
After running through the halls and causing a commotion, they arrive at the outdoor area where the graduation ceremony is usually conducted.
They were just on time.

“Welcome to the Graduation ceremony, everyone! Today, some of you will be graduating and will move on to becoming a legal adventurer!”

“Today, the following will be graduating: … Stalith Ngirathil, … Gregory Gianovich, …”
“YAFASOKVA ASDLSDF ALSDFHI” (To be interpreted as cheering and swearing)

“Settle down everyone! To the non-graduates, you are dismissed! To the graduates, you may go to the armory and find your armor stand, weapon rack, and chest!”

Gregory finds a book and a knife in the chest, an iron spear in the weapon rack, and an iron shield and a full set of iron armor in his armor stand.
Stalith finds a knife in the chest, an iron sword in the weapon rack, and an iron shield and a full set of iron armor in his armor stand.

What will you choose?

Fekod put on each piece of his new armor, taking his time to make sure everything was strapped in correctly. strapping on both of his shields, he slammed them together, relishing the sound. Today was the first day of his new life, it was time to go out and bash some stuff in the face. The pressing question, now, was what to bash in the face.

Editing Action:

Head to the tavern with Cero, keeping an eye out for any bulletin boards or anything that would shed some light on good places to adventure.
