Roll to Game Show 2 - Turn 1.5: Numero Uno
« on: July 30, 2012, 11:01:52 pm »

The Camera zooms onto a surprisingly human figure on stage.

Hello folks! Welcome to The Hunger Games, the most popular show in the galaxy! I'm your host, Hal, and we'll be witnessing a story of intrigue, violence, and drama. In The Hunger Games, we take several specimens of an alien race, accelerate their metabolism, and throw them into a hostile situation. The last one standing wins!

Today's competitors will be a returning favorite, the human race! Last time we featured them, they competed in a vast wilderness with peculiar life and even more peculiar structures. Today, we'll be throwing them into a human city, populated by humans infected by a virus. The virus changes the human, changing their biology and making them hostile to non-infected life!

Let's meet the competitors, shall we?

Please refer to the item list. I almost added a lighter, but then decided matchsticks served the same purpose.

Also a bio preferably. Though I guess it's not really required.

It's full right now, but if people don't show up we can nab their places.

I'm going to give Windpoison about 24hrs; I messaged him about an hour ago. We'll probably start late tomorrow.

For now, I might as well spill some of the 'general' changes that aren't specifically mechanics.

Everything is finite now. Environments will be described (1 building, 1 parking lot, ect), along with 'wildlife' and items. I can do this because I've shrunk the playing area significantly. The environment will also be easier to describe, as there will be many landmarks, it being a modern city. I will have specific hostile entities in specific areas, which will react to your actions, since we now have defined areas. Items are also specific. I will describe every item in the room that you can see. You may have to search some areas for a turn to get additional information (Search that desk, sink, ect). To that effect, I may create 'intermediate turns'. The reason why I wanted to reduce the time per turn is because it felt like turns were only using 1/4 of their time. So, with the intermediate turns, you can do examinations that may take a 1 minute or two. Combat may also be resolved in intermediate turns. This depends on your guys' feedback and how I can work this into the system. So far I'm leaning on 1 intermediate turn to resolve conflict and examinations, with the normal turn for bigger projects.

I've also just recently changed how the bestiary is going to work. I decided that since there won't be wildlife scavenging, I won't reveal it at the start. Instead, you will find notes, research documents, ect. in your searches that will glean hints to some enemies' natures. Or you could bash one on the head and see what happens kind of research, either one will slowly fill up the bestiary.

As you can see, I still have a lot of work to do, so there may be delays when exploring new areas.
