ARGRAG!

So many people that believe you can get more energy out of a reaction between two chemicals (such as hydrogen and oxygen) than you need to put in to the product in order to split it into the reactants.

THERMODYNAMICS!
LEARN THEM!
Who thinks that?
I need to teach them simple physics. Using my physics poker.

To be fair, Chemical energy seem a lot more abstract then electricity.

it shouldn't matter how abstract the energy is..."there is no free lunch" should be pretty easy to understand.

dark/vaccuum energy is the only remotely plausible source of unlimited energy. I can't help but wonder why there are relatively few crackpots peddling investments in dark-energy perpetual motion compared to the "magnet" crackpots who "recharge" a battery by letting it sit for a while within a useless, but impressive-looking contraption.

I'd imagine this is probably because dark matter and dark energy are much harder to get one's hands on than, say, magnets.

Dark matter is still hypothetical anyway, as far as I know. A quick check of Wikipedia implies confirmation that it's hypothetical, as well as dark energy. Magnets, however, exist.

It might be because Dark energy sounds too obviously fake, like you're trying too hard. Simply Put, endless levitation is a thought that occurs to people, while dark matter just sounds made up.

The book wasn't that good either. It started out ok but then it was a vampire love story and then it was a doomsday story and then there was an angel giving birth inside the wall that another angel had locked her up in. Yeah.

It sounds better than calling it "hypothetical invisible matter that we can't detect at all but assume it must be there because gravity and physics" and "energy which we can't detect but that we assume is related to the invisible mass and is responsible for the infinite expansion of the universe"

space is black, right? black is dark. If most of space is invisible matter, that matter is dark. If that energy is related to that matter and both bear the same traits then the energy should have a similar name. Makes sense in terms of naming stuff.

Anyway, if people decide not to experiment in utilizing dark energy as a form of energy primarily because it sounds made up then those people shouldn't be attempting to utilize it anyway. They'd clearly be so far out of their field and have no idea what they're doing and probably accidentally the universe.

The book wasn't that good either. It started out ok but then it was a vampire love story and then it was a doomsday story and then there was an angel giving birth inside the wall that another angel had locked her up in. Yeah.

There's a book called Dark Matter. Actually multiple books by multiple authors. The one I'm talking about is This One

There is more Principle of Thermodynamics than that. To me, harvesting dark energy to do useful works seems awfully like violating the second one.

Actually space is sort of beige. Some scientists measured it.

Yup, it's this colour.

At least I seldom use that word in that context, rather going for its use in "whatever it is/does/verbs possibly-a-preposition". And when I do, I bother to finish the word.

You know what word I hate? "meh".
It's the worst word. It is dismissive, while not providing any context for why you are being dismissive. It's apathy put into a word.

That's precisely why I use it D: It's crystallized apathy!
