'Idiot' a matter of perspective really. I've always found people who say "Humans are stupid!" themselves stupid, as the only real idea of intelligence we've got comes from other humans. What do we compare humans to?

If we lived in the galactic republic and it comprised of 591 races and 585 of those were more intelligent than us, then yes, maybe "Humans are stupid" would be a valid phrase. At the moment, both "humans are stupid" and "humans are intelligent" are equally (in)valid phrases.

I generally go with the idea of "A person can be intelligent. People, on the whole, are stupid". Especially in mobs. Even smart people in a mod end up doing very stupid things.

"Humans are intelligent", unlike "Humans are stupid", is often not meant as a comparision, but as the statement that humans have achieved certain abilities like consciousness, reflection, deduction, etc., thus meking the former actually a more valid phrase then the latter.
