Ideally (oh ye gods, not ideally, but you know what I mean), he'd have a long line of SS troopers, each holding a captive victim, walking them towards Hitler. After each died, their caretaker (so to speak) would step aside and drag the corpse off to whatever the arbitrary disposal method is. If we were going for a more realistic model, you'd need to factor in an extra second or two for each SS dude to get out of the way with his body. But I'm tired of personal genocide maths for the moment, so someone else can take it up.

I'd imagine they could clear them quickly, just hold them whilst the stabbing is occurring and yank them away as the next one is brought forward.

How many people could Hitler kill if he had a machine gun with functionally infinite ammo, and a conveyor belt running people toward him, assuming ~2-4 hours of sleep per day?

Even with infinite ammo (and how would that work exactly?), the gun would still require frequent maintenance and part replacement. A simple stabbing weapon might be slower, but is more durable.

But Even a stabby weapon is going to fail. After 6 months of going through craniums, it probably won't hold a edge.

Speaking as someone who doesn't know how dull stabbing skulls makes a knife.

It will fail less frequently, and can be quickly and easily replaced. Guns can jam, misfire, warp from overheating, and I don't even know what else.

True. Infinite ammo would just be a gigantic ammo belt going into the machine gun. What if they were replaced as they wore out? (the machine guns)

But imagine how many people he can mow down with a machine gun. If they line them up, He could do some serious damage, enough to make up for the replacement times.

With WW2 era machineguns, you're going to have to replace the barrel roughly once for every minute of constant fire. Add that to the number of people who wouldn't be killed outright and you're reaching problems. Once you consider the fact that he'll need to stop shooting periodically for the bodies to be cleared away and you've got a serious issue. It takes time to move hundreds of mangled corpses, time that the genocidal lunatic on-the-go doesn't have.

I was imagining some sort of set up where they are shot and fall into ditches. Possibly onto conveyor belts. Plus, it's possible the gestapo could just toss our mass-murdering friend another machine gun, then replace it while he gets on firing.

Still, that takes time out, not to mention that there is no assurance that every body will fall into the conveyor-trenches. It's much easier to simply have a new set of knives laid out each morning than to pass Hitler a fresh MG-42 every minute of his waking time.

According to Wikipedia and basic math, our hypothetical Hitler would have burned through every MG-42 ever made (assuming no repairs or replacements were done on the already-fired guns) in 277 days, give or take.

No, that would be a little too creepy. Let's just keep the genocide to this thread.
