It makes me feel old when people see a band formed 1995 as "oldschool". Even worse when it's a song from 2001. 80s at least, please.

I might have been born in 86, but any song from the 80's on I do NOT even consider close to old school.

That belongs to the guys who moved out of jazz and blues and created proto-rock in the late 40's - 50's, and began the while genre.

It ain't old school until it was primarily played on vinyl, so far as I'm concerned.

So all old school music disappeared a few years ago?

It all depends on what is considered "old school" for a certain genre. Early '90s is considered old school for gangsta rap and grunge.

60s - Oldies

All I know is you made no explicit mention of swing, and because of this family honor demands I hunt you down and take your writing hand from you.

Great grand pappy was a swing drummer in a circus. Blood shall be spilt for this.

4Ga-1900 - Classical
Oh come now, that is a pretty broad stroke there. Although still beautiful, I would be hesitant to actually call many pieces from the 1900's 'classic', they just wander too far from the more influential pieces.

Funnily enough I'm listening to Satie right now... God I fucking love the gnossiennes.

Those aren't my opinions, those are what I think other people think.

Basically, everything until folk and jazz was invented must be classical, right?

Ah I see...
Well yea, I guess people do tend to not have the greatest insight into music... Although I wouldn't say people are too keen to forget the 90s either.

Modern music is so modern, it's postmodern in its passage through time.
