No they aren't, I'm stupid. One of them is descended from the Tooks, and thus is distantly related to Frodo, but I don't think they're related to each other.

I will of course agree you can be just friends despite any sort of gender setup between you and them. Just like you can be more than friends no matter how your genders are set up.
