I remember a suggestion about taking Two-Handed fighting as a feat (for my bard). Am I going to be wielding two weapons, or do I need one hand for my instrument and one for a weapon?

So, here's the preliminary sheet, disregarding starting gold and whatnot. All in due time, including fluff.

BFG 9000? Is that a plasma cannon in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

I was wondering if anybody would notice this time around. And yes, it is a plasma cannon in my pocket.

@Dwarmin - The sheet looks good so far. Remember that you'll have to spend some gold summoning that familiar, and to work that into your equipment costs.

Quick question about equipment costs - where can I find out my financial limitations?

You're in, Putnam!

@Sirus - It's for using two weapons at a time. As for playing a lute, that usually takes two hands but doesn't require two-weapon righting. It's a standard action to use bardic music, so you won't ever run into a situation where you're juggling a lute and swords in the same round.

A good question, and one I haven't remembered to address yet. Use maximum starting gold for your character class. That means:

240gp for Fighters, Paladins & Rangers
200gp for Clerics & Rogues
160gp for Barbarians & Bards
120gp for Sorcerers & Wizards (wizards get a free spellbook)
80gp for Druids
20gp for Monks

For others, look up the class entry in the relevant book. (Usually PH1, for some PH2)

So, looking back I should choose Weapon Finesse or Two-Handed. Problem is, I can't seem to select either of those on Pathguy  :-\
All I see about WF is that I need a "Base attack bonus +1", but...what does that even mean? Do I need to reselect my attributes to give enough DEX for TH?

Weapon Finesse requires base attack +1, and base attack bonus is a property of the class. A first level bard doesn't have +1 BAB until level 2, so you can't select the feat at level 1. Two-Weapon Fighting requires only a Dex score of 15, meaning that you have to have at least that score to take the feat. (By extension, the high dex requirement means that if you decide to take Weapon Finesse later to replace your strength mod with your dex mod on attack rolls, you'll have a pretty good bonus. If you also have high strength, though, Weapon Finesse isn't usually worth it. There is a synergy, though. TWF works better with high dex and light weapons, and so does Weapon Finesse. If you're still looking for a feat at level 3 when you gain another, it could be a good option.

Well, that makes sense. I decided to lower my Wisdom a little to improve my Dexterity by one point. Strength is not really my priority, though that might bite me in the ass until I can take a second feat  :-\
Does 3.5 have anything like the retraining in 4E? Could I switch feats at level 2, when I have enough BAB to use Finesse?

... does this mean I have to delay weapon finesse one level? I'd rather not, but if I have to I can. There's not much benefit otherwise for kukris, then, though I can probably take the points off of charisma to take toughness or TWF instead.

Anyway, yes, the BFG 9000 is a joke. I'll take it off the sheet soon.

Agh, bards can't use martial weapons by default. That means no rapiers.
Changed my mind, I'll take Martial Weapon Proficiency for now, Weapon Finesse next time. Two-Weapon can wait - I am NOT going to use a simple knife.

@Sirus - 3.5 does indeed allow retraining of feats, up to one per level.

@Doomblade187 - Unless you are a fighter, paladin, knight, barbarian, or other high-BAB class, yes. Level 1 goes by fairly quickly, so there shouldn't be too much of a problem. Just pick a different feat for level one and swap it out when you level up.

@Ninja Sirus - Ohoho! They knew you wanted to play a rapier-wielding fop!
