Where is everyone getting the idea of paint chips?

* Tiruin does not get it.

I mentioned it earlier, referring to Aidan's less-than-stellar track record of decision making and awareness of his surroundings. Apparently that idea took hold.

Also, I'd have REGIS quip on Bowser complaining that Nik is ignoring him, but they're not in the same room... unless Bowser was grumbling on the way up.

But paint chips?

...

Apparently, this is a reference to something I've no idea about.

Really old houses tend to have lead-based paint. Lead paint means eating paint chips gives you lead poisoning. Lead poisoning means dead brain cells and severely reduced thinking capacity. Basically it's a way to insult someone's intelligence, as you would have to have very bad judgement to eat the paint chips in the first place, and the chips themselves would lessen your thinking capacity.

Rant:

After talking to freeformschooler via IRC, I noticed people may think Nik is a bland and uninteresting character due to his overall jackass behavior and constant avoiding scoldings and just, deserved anger from team mates, as if he only lived to troll people. Well, the problem is the following:

I prefer not to write feelings and thoughts for some of my characters. In this specific case, I was hoping people would notice Nikolai is a young human who may be drowning back in Earth and was thrown into a world he doesn't know, put into a situation he has to work in a team with people he does not know.

He tries his hardest to show he doesn't care, he doesn't mind anything. He's a liar. It is his coping mechanism, his self-defense system. He is afraid of what he became with the Terror Heart's transformation, he's hiding his suffering for killing Kaina, he's trying to deny it all and show no fear, no regret and spite his allies, to show he's as strong as them even if he's a human. But then one moment it all comes crashing down.

Enough exposition, though. I hope this was enlightening. :P

I just think that the battlefield is not the place to be waving ones [Redacted] around, IC anyway.

OOC I find it all incredibly amusing.

But then again my opinion at any given moment has absolutely no correlation to previous moments so I may be contradicting myself about fifteen times over.

I don't have a problem. I expected that and think it is appropriate if people get angry IC. I was just worried some people could find him a boring, tasteless character OOC due to not understanding the reason he acts like that.

My biggest and only real problem with Nik as a character is his tendancy to be a karma houdini. Even minor stuff like Dell whapping him on the back of the head is immediately dodged or disregarded. It's fine if you want him to seem cool and collected, but if you want to avoid making him a toxic character, he has to answer to the consequences of his actions. It's too easy to just say "nya nya you can't hit me" but it really seems like cheating.

Accepted as a valid complaint, since he was getting away too easy; too be fair, I was trying to avoid conflict, since if he's hit then he'll hit back and it may as well end up as in-fighting, which I'd rather avoid.

I do see your point, he'll keep ignoring complaints and well-deserved scoldings per his usual behavior, but he'll be hit normally.

Nik is pretty transparent for me, because people just can't be notable jerks and being 'bland' at the same time, or maybe just from my own viewpoint of seeing people. Though, it may seem so due to the actions, Nik has never been bland if anyone cared to see and compare his first actions towards the current ones. Pretty much a full-rounded one, though most of the newbies haven't seen his better side.

Anyway to return to the general topic, I love how the whole scenery changed from

Big crystal?

I'm sure approaching it alone isn't going to be a terrible idea.

I blame reverse gravity.

So...how do we regenerate hearts again other than sleep/heal? I'd be crushed if Nik would somehow land on me XD

If that's the case, moving from the landing zone would be a good idea.

On another note, I want REGIS to use the rest of the crystal for crafting. If you want to use it, that's fine, but I'll need a large portion of it for what I have planned.
