SWEET! The only problem is then we can't edit our messages without remaking the images... oh well. Still very nice formatting.
...aaaand it requires an Imgur account... aaaaand it's currently only for messages from Sonic... but hey. It's a work in progress. I'm trying to add "for everybody" to it right now.
But it'll still require an Imgur account.
But it'll still require an Imgur account.
Perhaps give it an option to save to a folder, or just the folder it's in? I use Dropbox, and could easily have it export to a folder in my Public section.
And now, after maybe three/four more hours of tweaks, I've made it so that ANYBODY can use it. Imgur account no longer required, either.
* Display your own character's face by dropping an image into a "faces" folder that's in the same folder as the provided JAR file - I'd recommend you use 100x100 images, otherwise it'll be screwed up. If necessary, I'll work on filtering out images whose size don't meet the constraints.
* Save the image to your own hard drive instead of auto-uploading to Imgur. In the verification window, just opt to save to a folder instead. Enlarge the window to see the code entry field as well as the "save to folder" button. (Been trying to figure out how to get the window larger on startup. Still WIP, people...) Just note that it'll save to one filename. If a file already exists,
it will be overwritten. Rename and/or move before making another message image.
* Use your own character's name and hex color using the provided text boxes. They are taken into account when rendering the image. I would suggest you use the Preview button before actually Saving / Uploading to make sure they are to your liking. Note that if you use a bad hex value for a color, the Preview and/or Save / Upload will fail. If necessary, I'll work on adding a color picker instead.
One other little thing you should pay attention to - always put a space before every line in your message to make it stand out a little from the box's left side. I can't figure out how to fix it. Also, to resize the box, resize the window. And
make sure that the "libs" folder is in the same folder as the JAR file, otherwise it will not run. That all said,
have at ye, beta testers! Java required.
EDIT: Oh, by the way. It
WILL pop up your browser and open a page to Imgur, whether you're gonna use it or not. I figured doing that might be better than having to copy-paste every time you wanted to use the app. Tell me if that's too annoying for you.
