Though I forgot what use they were for, special abilities?  :P))

"Have fun with that, necromancer."

Baradine shall...uhh...cauterize any open wounds of the nearest ally that is sporting wounds. If none are available, he searches the messed up library for a book on using magic!

Rorrim also searches the library, for lore on how magic could be used by non-spellcasters!

CHARGE THE GROTESQUE ARACHNID

THROW THE DAGGER AT IT!

"Why do I honestly have to save someone who's already dead..."

Throw dagger/defense (1d6=3, 1d6=1)
You throw the dagger, the rope trailing behind, slightly chipping the creature's golden armor (1 damage)

The skeleton scrambled to his feet, readying his sword to attack the creature or parry a blow as applicable.
One of his living companions had decided to join him. Not that he needed help, in truth... The word 'save' rankled with some small part of his mind as he stepped fowards to strike the spider-thing.

>Cleave this damn spider open!
Stand up/attack/Defense (1d6=3, 1d6=6, 1d6=2)
You try to stand up, but the sand makes it too hard. Somewhat frustrated, you toss your sword into the spider's direction. "Smooth move."
Oddly enough, the sword hits and sticks into the monster (4 damage, no damage bonus due to throwing).

Then, it begins again. Cracks appear in reality itself. Around Trael. Around Rorgrin. Grayness between space itself. But this time, something feels different...
Reality break vs Trael/Defense vs Rorgrin/Defense (1d6=6, 1d6=5, 1d6=6, 1d6=5)
Rorgrin and Trael feel tiny little bits of their bodies being dragged into the cracks, and though their fortitude holds, they still feel tremendous pain (3 structural damage each). Then they see the spider monster convulse as the same cracks and rifts appear around it. As it thrashes about in pain, Trael's sword loosens and falls back down beside him. As the rifts vanish, they leave behind a husk bleeding black goo that seems close to death.

Enemy - 1 Gildengleam 29 damage dealt. [total 36 damage] - Close Rorgrin, Trael

----
((Hm... despite almost dying, I'll take the action points.

As for traits/spells, I tend to like draining effects. A tank minion could be nice as well.))

Search the goo. What? That's what you do after a battle, you loot the corpses!
Loot slime (1d6=3)
You poke the remains. Yeah, no way there's something inside that that's still usable.

((Action Points!

Search library (1d6=6)
Baradine hacks away at the shelves to see if he can reach any interesting books. Whoops, that wasn't part of a shelf, that was the only copy of On the Advanced Magicka, once thought lost... now confirmed lost.

Search library (1d6=2)
You think Baradine might just have destroyed some of that lore.

(The library is now pretty much spent in the way of books still to be found.)

----

Zalgus and Rorrim both chose action points (and yes, they're used  for special actions, whether from traits (including spells) or equipment (mostly weapons))

Potential traits for Zalgus: Arcane Vampire, Skilled Stavesman, Resistant Creations

Potential spell improvements: +1 to damage with draining gaze; targets of consult dead may answer with fragmentary sentences of up to five words rather than just yes/no; called shades deal +1 damage; or called shades block +1 death damage

Potential spells: Draining weapon, Dust Zombie

Choose one of each. The new spell must be learned before it becomes usable.

Potential traits for Rorrim (choose 1): Strong, Battlecry!, Noticed by Tiamat

"Necroman, Baradine, shall we proceed ahead?"

Move in the...nearest exit direction, the one which Rorrim had not passed thru yet. Wary for traps.

Baradine shall follow, protecting Zalgus! Looking for any torches on the way.

"Yes, indeed."

Follow group.

((Levelup:

Arcane Vampire
+1 draining gaze damage
Draining Weapon

Also, I hope everyone's interested in halving their weapon's damage bonus in exchange for it becoming vampiric for 1d6 rounds, because I didn't choose that over Dust Zombie for myself. :I))

Throwing his skeletal body fowards with a speed unusual for, well, a corpse, Trael grabbed for his sword and moved to thrust it up through the beast's underside. Hopefully rising from a crouched stance as he struck would add enough force to kill the thing.

"WE'RE BEING ATTACKED BY PLOT HOLES!"

PULL THE ROPE, GET CLOSER TO THAT THING AND ATTACK IT WITH THE HALF BRICK WITH ALL POSSIBLE ACTION POINTS USED FOR MAXIMUM BRICK

Attack/defense (1d6=2, 1d6=5)
You pull in the rope as you charge the gildengleam, but miss by a wide margin with your half-brick. (No action points used because half-brick != warhammer)

Throwing his skeletal body fowards with a speed unusual for, well, a corpse, Trael grabbed for his sword and moved to thrust it up through the beast's underside. Hopefully rising from a crouched stance as he struck would add enough force to kill the thing.

>Dive fowards, grab sword and thrust it up into the Gildengleam's underside!
Get up/Attack/defense (1d6=4, 1d6=3, 1d6=6)
You get up, grab your sword, and thrust it at the gildengleam. Unfortunately, it simply isn't there when you stab. Looks like it's cowering on the ceiling.

Enemy - 1 Gildengleam 28 damage dealt. [total 36 damage] - Close Rorgrin, Trael

The three of you leave through the nearest exit that Rorrim didn't pass through yet. This happens to be the only other door in the former library, leading into the statue room, with its strange scything creatures, brains, mounds of rock... and the headless statue in the center, as well as the previously hidden staircase downwards.

For a moment, Rorrim has a strange feeling, as if something was watching him... Hm, what is that headless statue about, anyway?

Rorrim shall return and quick-search the library on any related article on this.

But first, he closely examines the statue for defining characteristics.

Baradine shall juggle fireballs.

"I'm not about to give this thing a chance to heal itself."
Even so, it seemed a good idea to get out of there. Trael eyed the way onwards, then darted fowards with blade raised high.

>Strike it once more with my sword, then hastily depart from the room-- heading deeper into the keep!

>Also try and remember just where I am, again...

"Hey bones, I think we should leave. NOW."

*Ahem*

Flee to the stairs.

You flee up the balcony.

Since it sits safely on the ceiling, you look around a bit to get your bearing. Sand pit in a room with two balconies, somewhere in a subterranean tower, with a jungle garden on the same floor.... ah, there it comes!
Attack/defense (1d6=1, 1d6=6)
In your attempts to hit the gildengleam with your sword, you somehow manage hug the spider creature, and it struggles to get away.

Get off me!/Attack/defense (1d6=3, 1d6=6, 1d6=6)
The gildengleam struggles in vain against the skeletal hug, then flails about with its four legs, bruising Trael's bone, then shoots up, then shoots a gray strand right up. Now it hangs on the ceiling along with Trael. (2 damage, 10 hp left)

Enemy - 1 Gildengleam 27 damage dealt. [total 36 damage] - Melee Trael, close Rorgrin

----

Examine statuary more carefully. Any noticeable patterns or potentially relevant details?
Examine statues (1d6+1=7)
Ah, yes, the statues, apart from that headless one, are all of anathema, to be precise, valriid. These creatures come from the limbo, the space beyond the astral plane, outside reality. They are manifold in form. The claw valriid, vaguely lion-like. The craniid, globs of brain matter. The scything valriid, with their bodies of blades. The silver valriid, spiky frog- or serpentlike creatures. The necrotic skull valriid. The huge terroiid, called living mountains. Not to forget the valriid that now follow the Serpent Titan, created after his exile by the other titans, the chrysopelea, viper, and cobra valriid. All in all, the valriid upset the natural structure of the planes, causing corruptions and changes, often strange, but rarely to the point where portions of reality are lost to the limbo. However, there are rumors of a high valriid that wanders the astral plane, crying seeds of chaos, that may root in a world and drag it into the limbo if not destroyed. Of course, if such a seed were here, the world would have been lost long ago.
The statues are arranged in a rather random fashion. Perhaps to make the headless statue in the center stand out more. Perhaps to hide the staircase by the scything valriid. It certainly isn't a recognized pattern of power, and it isn't optimized for viewing. Huh. You're certain you were going somewhere with your train of thought, but now you're not sure where...

Rorrim shall return and quick-search the library on any related article on this.

But first, he closely examines the statue for defining characteristics.

Baradine shall juggle fireballs.

Examine statues (1d6+1=3)
Welp... they're all different.

Firebolt (1d6+1=3)
Baradine creates a quick firebolt, then decides that trying to juggle it is rather foolish.

----

Baradine levels up. Per his PM, I believe he wants action points first, but I need to think about traits and spells.
