China doesn't support them, if anything China WOULD get involved on OUR side to make sure the U.S. doesn't get anything beneficial out of the war.

Which is exactly why China will NOT support the US in such an endeavor b/c they don't want the USA anywhere near the border. Better let the USA and NKorea waste their resources and troops.

What if China preemptively strikes NK to take over and reinstate a sane government before America can? Could they be that crafty? Probably, it is China, after all.

That actually sounds like it might legit happen, now that I think about it. If things look like they're going to boil over, China doesn't want NK falling into Capitalist hands, so they might take NK on themselves and bust through a relatively unfortified border to put in someone who won't threaten China's personal space through suicidal megalomania.

That would be the worst excuse for a war the US has ever stated. "WE SHALL PREVENT CHINA FROM ATTACKING NORTH KOREA BY DOING IT FIRST"
