It's definitely not DK3. It's less concerned with dungeon building and more concerned with the RTS side of things. I don't know if I like some things about the game; squads, the giant icons tell you where stuff is, ect...But I've only watched about 30 mins of the live stream on the first level, and it looks like Impire doesn't lack for different looks and different monsters. Which already puts it above Dungeons in my estimation.

Given that Dungeon Keeper sort of worked under the similar premise of Majesty in that it was more about influencing things to do your bidding then it was outright telling them to.

Well if we want DK3, there's always War For The Overworld which should launch sometime in August.

I was very much thinking of buying this day one, but I read the official forums a bit and found out there's not going to be a skirmish/sandbox mode, just campaign and multiplayer.

Oh I KNEW there was going to be SOMETHING I would regret by buying this..

Oh well.. Anyone I can add to Steam's friend list?
My own steam name is the one I use on these forums.

This is true, but the dev is quite active on the Steam forums for Impire and has said that if there's enough demand they will add skirmish. So get vocal :)

You could add me, steam name is the same as my name here. I'm thinking I'm going to buy this when I get home after work tonight. The multiplayer sounds neat.

Maybe for an update or something.
If it would be on a DLC, I hope it would be a free one.

edit: Installing now. Aaaaand... Playtime!

Let us know your first impression. Tempted to try it, but there is not much to go on to judge if it's worth the price or not...

I'll blah blah when I've had a few hours to play it after I get home. I installed it here at work just to see if my work machine would run it....and had to fight the urge to start playing.

First impression: It's good.
Second impression: Oh, it's a lot like DK mixed with Tropico, with RPG Multiple Squad Management.
Third impression: It's GOOD!
Fourth impression: Ugh, I have to stop playing to go let people know that it's good. Just......one.......more........mission..........

Excellent.  :D  I can't wait to try it...

When I finish Sly Cooper.  Borderlands 2, another go of Skyrim, and half a dozen other things.  2013 is a rough year for gaming for me.  :)

Impressions based off the second mission on Normal:
Holy crap are ratmen hard to fight without numeric advantage. Poison damage hurts and they have it. One squad vs 3 or 4 of them usually seems to end in my squad (typically healer/tank/damage/damage) dieing.

Otherwise, I agree with hemmingjay and appreciate having gotten this from the gift thread from him.
