"I think she meant familiar as in the same colored door like the rest."

Examine room composition!

"Though, seeing as this room is a different color, it could be another type of rock or stone layer, or something else entirely different from the rooms above us.

"Or I'm just speculating too much."

Sadie tagged alongside with Queen and Niko, skipping up and down.

"On the bright side, if grass is growing here, there has to be water around somewhere...also, wheee!

I love the feel of grass between my toes. So soft!"
She said, going double dutch.

Action: Skip merrily after Queen

A piece of logic hit Queen in the face out of nowhere.

"Hmm... I wonder what's behind this one though. Why do you think they colored it like this? Trying to warn us off or something?" Bowser asked no one in particular. "Wonder why it ain't on the map too. Who thinks we should check it out? Form two groups again?"

Sadie skidded to a stop, pirouetting in place. She cleared her throat...

"What a lovely question. I love answering that one!

The Merpeople are in many ways a miscegenation of the mundane and the arcane-incidental ancestors of Sylvus Dryadalum (Or Sylvan Elves) and the rupturing of the North Atlantic Ley-Beam in my worlds ancient history-an act which lead to the propagation of many magical races, such as my own. Magic was not destroyed, for it is a form an energy, but it did spread, wild and uncontrolled-thus, very few people in my world can use magic consciously. My people have the ability to change ourselves inherently, but possess no other true magical faculties.

As such, my race has the paranormal ability to Icthymorph-that is, we can take on the body features of either aquatic or land based mammals. Were I to find an ocean around here-a beautiful, cool ocean-I could immerse myself and concentrate on adapting my body-in a few short moments, I would develop gills for breathing and travelling underwater-my arms would become more flipperlike and tipped with claws, and my eyes would develop specialized nictating membranes. I would also grow two rows of sharp pointy teeth, much like a shark. Grr!

Needless to say, one would also see my pretty Mer-tail, which is also long and beautiful. If I may be a bit self aggrandizing!"
She said proudly. Sadie wondered what Aidan would think of her other form. It could be quite frightening, so she was told.

She ran a hand up and down her left leg.

"Now! As you can see, whilst on land, I possess all the traits necessary to live as a land mammal-a set of air breathing lungs, bipedal locomotion, binocular vision, auditory and tactile sensation...along with all my other mammal parts. By the time a Merperson becomes an adult, the change is as easy as slipping on a different pair of clothes-and with practice, one can even consciously change their body to suit any variety of situations, as long as they retain biological synchronicity.

The hard science is much more complicated-but in essence, a Merpersons 'soul' or aural energy field (if you are non-religious) is in fact as mutable as our bodies. Quite simple, we believe we can walk on land-faith must reinforce reality-and thus, it is. That is the first and only law of magic in my world-a world where magic and logic must exist side by side. Do you have more questions? I do so love to talk!"

Sadie finally finished, smiling.

: "Are you always so upbeat? And if you keep skipping, your head may hit the doorway or some protrusion. Or you map trip and fall on top of us." Nik said, hoping she would just stop skipping.

He didn't want the merwoman almost the size of Bowser to trip and fall on top of both him and Queen, or any of them, for that matter. Even if Sadie seemed frailer than an human, judging from what he had seen from her in combat, there was little doubt she would still be pretty heavy if only from sheer size.

"Do you have more questions? I do so love to talk!"

Sadie finally finished, smiling.

"Yes, you do!" Queen couldn't help but laugh. She didn't understand much of that, but it was starting to make sense. "Do have one more question, though. You mention 'magic', but... can you use it? Could you? I ask as although Hylians are connected to the gods, there are some species in my world who could... not use magic. Or not well."

"Perchance it was a mistake. But we regarded them barbaric. Many years ago, at least, they lived on the surface and built a tower sky-high with unprecedented technology. They could not commune with the gods like us. Believed reaching them physically was an alternative..."

"And as the story goes, at least... they got what they wanted."

"Ah, not trying to be depressive. Sorry."

Sadie tapped her chin.

"I suppose I could use magic, if I was trained well-but it would be analogous to an injured person trying to walk after many years in bed. Quite simply the 'muscles' that I would use to practice magic are highly specialized and un-adapted to any other use but my morphology.

Not to say it's impossible! Like I said, even now, there are a few beings in my world that can properly perform what you call true magic-minor acts of kinesis and clairvoyance mostly. The Ley-Beam is, slowly, repairing itself.

Of course...this world of Acos, the rules we all lived by are not quite set in stone...who knows what could I find here?"

...

She thought about Queens story.

"Hmm. A sad story, in a way. People always reach for what they cannot have.

There is actually a similar story in my world-The People grew arrogant, and attempted to make a Tower to the Heavens-but the Gods smote that Tower to the ground with fire and lightning, to punish them for their hubris...do you think our legends might be speaking of the same thing?

If one could bridge Heaven, perhaps it could bridge worlds and times as well..."
She mused.

"What a golden sheen... if only I could take it with me... Most certainly a room lays beyond this that is of importance... but to 'take the cake' before the meal is served would only spoil the flavours... we should wait and return to this one only when we have nowhere else to go... or we reach an impasse that would prevent our return." Cora heads rightward.

"How is it that anytime it takes more than five seconds to do something we all start to get sucked into storytime?" Dell mused. He had a feeling that the answer was both long, complicated, and probably not worth thinking about.

"You have to admit, it's enjoyable." Aidan said, mostly to Dell as the others talked.

He envisioned Sadie in her other form, probably comparing it to one of the larger varieties of predators that usually frequented the waters off the Shimmering Isles. Lithe beasts with flexible skeletons and fins made for swift, agile movements, yet stylish in their sleek appearance and reflective of the sun.

Somehow, he wished he still had his pet salamander by his side...

"Is it settled, then? Same groups path in their own directions? Reggie, Sadie, Dell and I head to the black door while the rest of you head to the yellow one?"
