((@Burkhart: Power-playing? Hah! Tension is what we exactly need!))

After helping up Nikolai and giving him a tap on the shoulder for a good job (while still shaken by the sudden disappearance of the giant red beast in his wake), Aidan left him in the custody of the golem, who seemed to be performing one of it's medical marvels -- grasping the throat, or seemed to be the throat, judging by the size of his hands.

He wondered if REGIS healed by physical contact other than punches...

Returning to the current situation, it seemed that Seuche has gone for a rest, to be replaced by what seemed to be a...

Fisherman? He didn't seem like one to the Elf. Though a soldier was the first thing that came to mind. Unarmored, and only with a yellow hat and glasses...

Perhaps he was a healer or a taker-of-the-dead? Yellow signified support, aid, healing and peace. He recalled that it also represented those who took the role of the dead.

Must be a fisherman.

"Thanks Sadie for the introduction, but let's not smother the man with questions, yet. He seems...disoriented just like Cora was. Let's take this slowly, if that's alright with you." he said with a smile, moving up to them.

"Greetings Hero, do you remember anything of your past trial or who you served? Calm down, we're all friendly here, we won't kill you."

"He's not a fisherman Sadie, he's a construction worker, or someone of that type of profession, the helmet acts as a safety device from falling debris, though it isn't that practical, as to be really effective is has to be made of adamantine, which is both really heavy and really expensive... So, guy, how'd you get in possession of a... skull-cap? made of adamantine? I really don't get that design either, it doesn't protect you from anywhere but the top... and adamantine is usually found in semi-large amounts, so there should have been enough for at least a full helm... Woulda cost about the same too, as you really just pay for the work done and not the actual material... It's hard stuff man."

Dell watched Bowser walk off with an expression that conveyed bafflement, annoyance, and a hint of resignation, even as another more normal looking figure turned up and started talking.

"It's gonna be one of those days, isn't it. I bet Merasmus has something to do with it." He said more to himself than anything.

Turning to the man, (Dell noted he seemed to have pointed ears.) Dell started talking. "Howdy stranger. I don't know what you mean by a past trial, but I work for Mann Co. I don't suppose you mind telling me where I am? She," he motioned to the so called mermaid, "Talked a fair bit faster than I can deal with. I heard somethin' about being dead? There was also something about fish, but I haven't seen a fish for a good long while now."

He paused. "Well, not one that wasn't being swung at my head, anyways."

Once again, a new voice entered the dispute, ballbing about something or other. Dell turned and looked down. And down. He blinked as he saw yet another oddity. A three foot woman, again with pointed ears. Dell listened to her with a rapidly familiar sense of confusion.

"My hat's made out of a high density polyethylene. I don't know much of what this... adamantine is."

((That ninja!  :P))

Aidan nodded. "You're in the world of Acos, having been brought here because you have died. Died in the sense that you, in your world, have lost all conscience and life. But, despite that, some higher power has noticed you and brought you to this world to undergo some sort of trial to redeem yourself ad perhaps escape the fate that you once had. As for who I am, Sadie says it well. I'm Aidan, a bard of my people and a seeker of legend and lore.

"You come from the Grim chest, have you not?"
he pointed at the chest. "That means you came to this place before any of us present, except for Cora over there. She's a halfling, and a mighty good one at that.

"About the fish, Sadie loves fish. That's all there is to say. And you aren't a fisherman, then? Mann Co. isn't a military organization?"

((Derm: Cora is a girl :P ))

"About the fish, Sadie loves fish. That's all there is to say."

"That I do! No fish, though? What a downer....I don't think this place has any oceans...mmm.

Nice to meet you anyway, helmet-clad stranger."
She folded her hands politely, waiting for Aidan to continue.

...

Afterwards, she noticed a black chest had literally popped into being in the middle of the stone circle. She loped over excitedly to open it and see what was inside.

Action: Open the Mysterious Chest in the middle of the stone ring!

"Now hey waitaminut, just because I'm the only example you know of my kind doesn't mean you can go judging the whole lot of us... In my knowledged opinion, I'm a fairly horribly halfling, I don't steal, I don't deal, and I most certainly don't 'feel' augh... that clan always gave me the freaks...

Boy, you've gotta either be one of the stupidest or one of the most gullible people I know... plastic can't do anything to protect one from harm... unless you're dealing with a wizard who specializes in hurling bolts of electricity at you... but for that there's the even cheaper and, frankly, more sleek, rubber. Always liked how they tried to play that off as fashion..."

Dell scratched his head. Several parts of that didn't make sense, but lately not a lot of things were. He had a brief flashback to a giant floating eyeball. This, however, took the cake.

"Minor problem with your theory, if what your sayin' is true. I don't remember ever being here. And I know I died, but I should be back at respawn." Dell shook his head. "I suppose I should be saying that I work with the Reliable Demolition Corps at the moment, and Mann Co is most certainly not a military organization, it's more a weapons producer. I work with RED as a mercenary of sorts to fight against the Builders League United, or BLU. My full profession is Engineer. As a side note you can call me by my job, or Engie if you all touchy feelie."

Dell raised an arm and gestured. "Thing I don't get is, I've died plenty of times today. Heck, my teammates have died ten times as much as me today, and I haven't ever seen nor heard of this place."

He glanced down at the ranting girl. "Listen little lady, my job ain't to charge into the middle of combat. Y'see I'm an engineer. If I'm in the middle of a live fire zone aimin' to take down a big motherhubbard by myself I'm doin' my job wrong. I don't clear people out of where I want to go, I stop em from going into places I don't want them to be. And I do it by bein' really damn good at what I do. Full plate don't do much against bullets flyin' at twice the speed of sound. 'sides, this ain't my normal hat, I lost it in the transition. T'was a damn fine hat if I say so myself. Also we ain't got much in the way of wizardry back home. Up till a while ago I didn't even know it existed."

An Engineer, hmm?

The prospect of one with such a profession intrigued Aidan. Though he spoke just like Nikolai and looked perfectly like him, perhaps Engie could...

"Engie, could we call you by your real name? Formalities aren't taken seriously here, and...I'm unsure if you can 'respawn' here. Death is probably permanent when you see what happened to Kaina, one of our companions. As an aside, I assume you know how to handle ranged weapons? This one doesn't use any ammunition, but I feel better with it in your hands, soldier."

The Elf handed over the bow to the Engineer.

"So could you explain how...respawning works? Technology or some sort of innate ability of your kind? You should meet up with Nikolai over there, the one getting healed by the chest from our resident golem, REGIS, I don't know if you're from the same world, but I've a feeling you'll share much in common."

He looked at Cora after explaining the rest (particularly everything we know) to the Engineer. "Where is Kaina, anyway? And how did Nikolai get eaten by that gigantic red beast?"

"Well, if it serves no purpose... then why wear it? And what, is your plane of existence permanently enchanted with some sort of auto-revive or something? Man... just thinking about something that powerful makes my wallet hurt... That is... if I still had anything in it..."

"Where is Kaina, anyway? And how did Nikolai get eaten by that gigantic red beast?"
"Well, first Nikkie turned INTO the beast... freaked us all the 7 planes of hell out... then Reggie threw Kaina, was that her name? away from the battle, where Nikkie tore her to SHREDS, literally, there was barely anything left to turn to dust... But as I was making an advance in the opposite direction, gotta keep our rear guard up ya'know, I could sense that a lot of good loot came from her. Just a shame we couldn't meet under normal circumstances, I bet we would have been the best of mates..."

Kaina's expression flashed once more into Aidan's memory, before taking in what he heard.

"So...Kaina was...she returned? Or did something happen that you all saw? Did the Reaper get her?

"Also, does anyone have one tone I could borrow for the payment of that bow?"

"So...Kaina was...she returned? Or did something happen that you all saw? Did the Reaper get her?"
"Oh, so... you still didn't know? Kaina, or whoever she was, was taken by this Reaper Character, then I was allowed to have my second, no, third, chance. Then, just a few moments ago, she appeared, like literally, out of nowhere, then proceeded to almost kick our attempt at life back into grim, taking Nikkie down in a single hit, almost overkill. But then Her Highness made her really depressed or some such... that... was a moment that will deprive me of restful sleep for a while... but then Her Highness revived Nickkie, who then did the thing I already told you, then that other thing happened, then some more stuff, then here we are!"

"REGGIE WOULD DO ITS RIGHT NOWS IFFUN YOU HAD ACTUALLY HURTUN ONE OF US. THATUN WAS COMPLETELYS UNNECESSARY."

Upon hearing the stomping of REGIS moving towards him, Nikolai shrugged and kept walking. He didn't even try to move away as the construct got him by his clothing. He simply smirked as the golem babbled, leisurely confident he could get off his jacket and back to the ground in a moment anyway.
: "Showing our ugly side, are we? What a bad, bad healing golem, talking about snapping necks." he chuckled and his eyes narrowed, smugness apparent in his face. "I helped the team and didn't hurt anyone because I knew what I wanted to do. You were never exposed to any real danger."

His voice turned more serious and he stared at the golem's faceplate.
: "And the reason I sought revenge was due to your inability in protecting me. Aren't you the 'big guy' who'd protect us? As far as I know, when her hand pierced through my gut and I fell to the floor, bleeding to death, you were more concerned about carrying her instead of healing me. Which means you failed twice."

"Hey steve." You speak into the air.

"Could you guys also make a hamburger out of this arm when they cut it off? I wanted to eat it just for the sake of tasting it."
>That is horrible and disgusting. It will no doubt set you apart and create fear in your team mates. So of course.

Dell looked conflicted for a moment. "I suppose if you have to, you can call me Dell. It's not really a formality back home, but more a rule of sorts. The Medic is called Medic, our Demolitions man is called Demo. Supposed to prevent friendships or some such. There was this big deal a while back about our Soldier becoming too friendly with the enemy Demoman. They aren't here though, so I suppose it's alright." He picked up the bow hesitantly. "I'm more of a 'Gun' fella, shotgun specifically. Sniper's the one who uses a bow sometimes, though I suppose it'll do until I can get something better. I'm not a soldier though, Soldier is. 'Nother mercenary, uses a rocket launcher."

Dell shifted as respawn came up. "It's technology actually. Science, my specialty. I'm not going into the hard details as I'm pretty sure you couldn't understand it, no offense. When I die to an enemy or move into dead zones I wake up a good ten to twenty seconds later in Spawn, a sort of 'starting area' for each base. I imagine that if I died here I would just wake back up at Turbine, or if I didn't they would just pull a backup copy from half a week or so ago.

He frowned at Cora. "We wear 'em as a sort of status symbol. There's only so much variety in killing each other for years on end, so we make do with hats and things that we find scattered all over the place. Mine had a green fire on it, holographically speakin'. It was really top notch." Dell smirked. "Sometimes the other guys had somethin' that made their body explode on death. Hooee that one is fun."

"Wow, a real Valhalla you got yourselves there... Though without the feasting for eternity, then fighting to the death for eternity, ad infinitum... You just fight... forever... not my kind of afterlife, but I could learn to like it..... Hats as a status symbol... you would like my 3rd cousins of my fathers side... They can't get enough of hats... have to get at least 6 types of every hat in existence, if it doesn't exist they pay people to make em... ludicrous amount too, made me want to be a tailor growin' up with 'em... that plan kinda fell through the cracks though... Cora scowls... then removing the thought. "Think I could still use a needle if I needed to..."

The golem released Nikolai and slowly turned to approach the newcomer. Then paused for a moment.

"IT'S A SADS JOKEUN. I'M THE ONLY ONE HERE WHO IS TECHNICALLY A MONSTER, AND YET SOMEHOW HAVE MORE COMPASSION THAN YOU."

Leaving Nik behind, the large metal man waved to the new overall-clad man.

"HELLOS! REGGIE ISUN PLEASED TO MEETS YOU!."
