Queen, before heading off anywhere, stopped and looked around.

: "Something's coming... something large."

She deposited all her tones in the cube.

: "To everyone willing: do the same as me? It is important that we can heal one other, and if we split up, REGIS cannot cover everyone."

If enough tones were gathered, Queen attempted to learn Heal.

Watching the enemies approaching, Nikolai spared Queen and the rest of the team a look.
: "Yeah, told you. The tones should be team assets, and you should deposit enough to allow Queen to get her healing back...or this may get messy for us."

After his remark, he started to stretch calmly, a mischievous smirk appearing on his face.
: "A boss battle, it seems."

Sadie put her hands on head.

"Oh dear, oh my, oh Eadro! Buti ob, ci uhi meegim!' Sadie exclaimed, invoking the name of her God and lapsing into her native language. Now was as good time to panic. She was hurt, and hardly a warrior-her club looked very tiny against the Horde.

She heard someone say they should pool their tones-and she did that, trying to remain calm...

Then she began panicking, racing about, not knowing which way to go. There was no escape!

"Pdi Dehmi, yp uqqheuwdib! Wul aeo bii dec gula pdig pdihi uhi, Aidan? Dec wul ci cyl...dec wul ci cyl! Ci'hi uzz feylf pe myi!'

Action: Drop all my tones in the cube. Panic!

'That might be the best course of action, yes,' Seuche said laconically.

"..."

"Bwahahahaha!" Bowser guffawed. "Excellent setup! I love the chanting and the music. And on a bridge over the void? Seriously, a great backdrop for a big boss fight. When I get back home, I'm gonna try it out the next time I face him." Bowser stepped forward onto the bridge, going with his plan to use it to bottleneck the enemy, and keep them from surrounding them.

"But you see these people here? Some may be annoying, headstrong, and some are rather weak, but they're my Troops. Mine! And they're not dying today! Not while I'm still standing! So come on you puny maggots, do your worst! I'm gonna show you why I'm the king of the koopas!" Bowser roared. "Everyone! To me! We face them together!"

Nikolai stared at Bowser, deadpan face on and arms crossed behind his head.
: "I'm not part of your troops. Try and remember we are not koopas nor goombas."

He sighed and moved to position in the bottleneck.
: "I have to admit that boss knows how to make an appearance, though." he said, smirking and eyeing the troops heading for the group.

"Me, Bowser and REGIS in the frontlines, the Captain, Cora in the middle and the elf should stay in the Magi zone if he wants to stay alive. The merwoman can shift according to necessity and Queen can stay in the medium zone if she wants to throw things at the enemies aside from healing; if she wants to limit herself to healing, she can take the Magi zone. And Seuche, when one of us who is up in the front gets beaten up enough, you can take one of our spots....If you really want to beat someone, you can take my spot and I can move in later, though."

"How does this formation sound?"

As the carrier throne came closer, the large foe lifted its arms in the air.

: "Gentlemen, ladies! It is so good to see you all! I am the Shogun Slasher! Please, let us be reasonable here, there is not much use for a common bloodletting this day! You have no reason to rush because I have a proposition to offer! Instead of letting me and my 100 Samurai Slashers slice you all into mince meat, I offer an honorable challenge! I will decide to fight myself, alone, against those of you who want to participate in the battle! You do not need to fight if you do not want to and in exchange I will only fight myself, letting my 100 followers sit this one out! If you best me then that is it! My followers die with me! I am sure that more of us will be spawned, but this flood will be defeated! If I win though, well, you know what is going to happen then. I might be reasonable, but I still have my orders and instincts. I will let you think it over, you have all the time in the world! I am in no haste. So prepare, and let us meet in honorable combat!"

The Shogun Slashers' throne was settled on the ground at the edge of the bridge, and the 100 Samurai Slashers stopped marching, but kept the music going.

Nikolai didn't even blink an eye.
: "If anyone in the team wants us to fight both him and his army, you can speak now." his eyes run across the small army following alongside the larger enemy "It seems reasonableness and honor really helped us here."

He crosses his arms and stares at the Shogun, angling his head.
: "Challenge accepted."

Nikolai accepts only facing the Shogun.

He takes position in the melee zone, alongside Bowser and REGIS.

If I win though, well, you know what is going to happen then. I might be reasonable, but I still have my orders and instincts. I will let you think it over, you have all the time in the world! I am in no haste. So prepare, and let us meet in honorable combat!"

Queen was suprised at the attitude of their foe! She calmed herself a little.

: "Does sound reasonable. One question: must we fight you one-on-one? Or may we group up and duel you together?"

(After learning Heal) Queen got into the Medium Zone behind Nik, according to his formation. She accepts.

Without a word, REGIS pounds his knuckles together and approaches the front lines. He looks straight at the boss of the flood and gives him a nod of acknowledgement.

Aidan listened on as his allies drew their plans and the enemy marched on. He was surprised at the sense of honor it held, and also on how it's challenge was proposed.

But...he offered a fight which was optional for them all, and it would be useless anyway to let the fight go out without aid - it was like standing on the side of the battle, documenting the happenings...

This was why he at least took archery.

He looked at Sadie, perhaps she needed quite a bit of persuasion, or perhaps Nik?

"Amsel! Take the hammer back!"

Give Nik the hammer he lent me.

Then, it was time to decide. Everyone else was thirsting for battle, it seemed, by the looks on their faces and the auras of their hearts, he knew that they wouldn't give up.

But him? He was weak, and couldn't even last a quick skirmish against one of those tendril-ish creatures. This...was pathetic.

"...'

He turned to his merfolk friend, and recalled part of what teachings he received from the loremasters.

"Ci cyzz lep juzz, ga jhyilm, ub zelf ub ci bpulm olypim. Xiiq diuhp, Sadie.

"Jeh pdihi cyzz ki...

Great...what was that one word? I know I had the last ones right!

"wdewezupi."

He hoped she understood his words, for speaking in prophetic verse was hard for him - did he get the message right?. Turning to the rest, he held up his arms in surrender and spoke:

"I...will have to wait this out."

You're a coward. At least help them!

Help Sadie with not panicking.

Stay out of the fight, sadly.

"Gotta respect a commander who isn't afraid to get his hands dirty. I accept your challenge. Come on, let's see what you're made of." Bowser said.

"Hm, seems like those were more useful than previously intended... and no matter how this goes down, I'd rather fight one than one hundred. Let's do this!"

Seuche looked their foe up and down.

'You're hardly the biggest thing I've faced. Bring it!'

Taking a look at Aidan's face, Nikolai's brow furrowed.
: "If you try to sing anything during combat, I'll whack you with this hammer. If you want to be useful, keep your mouth shut."
