As the group neared the others, with Uniq and the chest and bell, and after meeting the King, Aidan strode up to Sadie, intrigued by the comment.

"Well, yes, I did.

"But I'm unsure if you could've met me before at all. Our worlds are separated by one barrier that exists in any place - Time. There are many other bards, too, and I guess their stories lived far past any that I would've made. One cannot talk when one plays the flute.

"_{Especially in my prose...}"

He held up a green plate. "So I'm guessing these things are tones. Weird name for currency, or something of value to our Uniq friend...friends?" If anything was called Tones, he expected there to be some kind of music coming along. It had been too quiet ever since his awakening - other than the faint wind the the sounds of battle, there was no music to be heard.

The King must've known something about the matter, "A...bell needs tones? Can't it ring by itself?"

"A Flute?

...Oh my. I'm sure it's just a coincidence. Surely. The probability is astronomical..." Sadie said to herself.

[Tiruin]

"Well..." Aidan rubbed his fingers nervously, "Err, I just said flute, didn't I? That's the only instrument I know how to play well. I doubt any of the lyrics I've written would ever survive...and my voice isn't as sonorous as anyone elses...

"I just hope we'll find a way to rest soon. I-...how did you meet me?"

He blinked. She said meet...could merfolk travel back in time through dreams? Wait...he didn't recall ever meeting one in his. This place wasn't a dream, anyway...

Queen couldn't help but chuckle at Aidan and Sadie as they walked. The two were adorable, and they'd only just met. Sadie obviously cared for Aidan very much! It all reminded Queen of her family...

Flicker, flicker.

The fire waved side to side as I kneeled by it, warming my hands. Comfort was the highest luxury in my Kingdom. It was so rare, in fact, that the current decade was being touted as Hyrule's "Dark Age". Full-on economic disintegration was caused by the trade routes to other kingdoms being cut. I didn't ask for this, but the world wanted war.

Flicker, flicker.

But none of that mattered right now. All I could think of was how long I would live. How long I had to make a difference in my daughter's life before war broke out. Hyrule wasn't strong. Its knights were loyal and its mages were cunning, but they couldn't stand up to the real superpowers in the rest of the world.

"Mother?"

I turned to the side and saw Zelda. Poor girl. What was she so worried about that she had to come to my room?

"Bad dream again?" I whipped up a faint smile.

The little princess nodded. She was only eight and yet she'd already begun having visions. The curse of my heritage, and the reason I was in power. I signalled her closer to me.

"Yeah." My daughter hopped up on my lap and rest her head against my chest. "Saw something different this time. Scary."

"Oh?" Unusual. The visions usually stayed the same.

"There was a lady with red hair. She kept on laughing and laughing and I don't know why it scared me but it did."

Interesting. I kept poking. Maybe rationalizing her visions would make her less afraid. That always helped me.

"The fairies from the woods, uh..." The princess was shivering. It must have been traumatizing. "There were so many! They were in crystals! The red woman laughed and laughed and her house ate them all up!"

Oh, goodness. I understood now. A vision of the Sacred Realm. What was going on in there? I couldn't lose sleep over it. If we were created in the image of the gods, it stands that the gods could do evil too.

"It is just a dream, my love." A lie, but she was too young to understand.

Princess Zelda lifted up her bangs and squinted at me. "But you said all dreams mean something! What if this one means something bad?"

She is cunning. An excellent fit for a queen.

I pointed to the ceiling. "If it does, dear, then Nayru will protect us."

"That's what you always say." The princess made a pouty face, but it was so comical that I couldn't help but smile. "If the gods are so concerned with keeping us safe, why don't they come down and help us in the war?"

Princess Zelda VII marched off to her room once more. Maybe I could have been more comforting, but she needs to start thinking for herself. Not to worry, though. She'll understand her visions in time.

"Hey cube thing. Wake up. Got a question for ya," Bowser said to Uniq as he walked. "You talked a lot about how magic worked in this place, how it's converted to energy and such. But you said it could work by doing what we did in our original words. First, does that include my fire breath? Nothing but smoke happened when I tried it here. Second, what about power stars? At home, I could do stuff, might be called magic, if I had stars. Summoning boos, making dry-bones, transforming people, that kind of thing. There any power stars here, or another source of power I can use to do that stuff?"

: "Analyzing question...Done. Activating memory core...Done. Loading custom explanation loadout #2599...Done. Tons and tons and tons of stuff in the world of daros are grand sources of power! "So, ah, Ding was it? How does one go about using these to acquire powers that were once ours?"

: "Heheh oh mister robot, stop being such a sourpuss and talk normally so the others can understand you too! Yes, me and Dong are related, as we was forged from the same data, and thus share many similarities both in function and in form! And mister bull lizard, I will get the data up and running in no time if you could just be a little patient with me! It takes a while to scan all of you, especially when Cube is at such a low charge! You really must order him to sleep some more!

: "I would ac-actually love to request a ti-ti-time ou-"

: "How positively droll! You all already got this far! To think that you already harvested that many Tones!"

: "Watch o-o-o-out! It's the R-Reaper!"

Event!

An odd black creature has landed on top of the Bell of Heroes! Aidan ate the spiral fruit back southeast to make room for the Tones.

: "Hishi hishi hishishishii!! Me? Reaper?! Oh Cube, I knew you were rusty but this is just pathetic! But yes, I guess I am "A" reaper! Pleasure to meet all of you, gotta say, that critical hit you landed Seuche? Simply delightful job!"

: "I came to deliver a message from the Outsider! Hrrh hrrm! Let me clear my throat! The message is: "Congratulations heroes, not dying upon entry! Thousands have already done that, and just for getting over the beginning, you all deserve applause! It hopes that you all are enjoying your journey together since it seems some of you have already warmed up to each other! Ah, the wonders of mortal kin." And that is it. Good old Out and at them has always been an odd poet, don't you think so?"

: "Anyways, that was all I think! See you all at the flood! HISHISHISHII!!"

The creature returned into the darkness with a swift motion before anyone could say anything, leaving the heroes dumbfounded.

Turn 17, Day 1, ???

: "...Give me 10 minutes, and I will have your stat screens ready..."

Queen had plenty of question, but if Uniq needed to sleep in order to scan them quicker, she figured it wouldn't hurt to tell him to do so.

: "Ah, Uniq, need sleep. I order you to do so for now."

She then turned to the Captain standing beside her.

: 'Oh, here and there. Every now and then I end up in a world where I can't, for whatever reason, use my guns. It pays off to learn to swing an axe or a club. Anyway, these things remind of a nasty arachnoid nest that appeared on the lower decks once. Looked fearsome, but you just need to give them a good, solid hit and they go down. Or up, in this case.'

: "Now, captain, if you're such a fighter, charge the northern foe with me?" She pointed at the hiding Scale Thrasher behind the northern tree cover and quickly rummaged around for another thrown weapon of some kind.

REGIS approached the bell and put his hand on the side, then once again spoke in his code language to the new Uniq.

REGIS watched as the black creature came and left.

"REGGIE DOES NOTS LIKEUN WHAT'S THIS FLOODS SOUNDUN LIKES. MEBBE WE'S SHOULDS USEUN THOSE TONES AS QUICKLYS AS POSSIBLES."

"10 Minutes? Well, that gives me some time to practice with this bow then, I suspect that hitting that tree was simply beginners luck..." Awaiting the time to acquire powers, Cora practices her archery, while singing a jaunty tune to pass the time.

Aidan was amused at the thought - Sadie was good at this.

"Well, would it be surprising to tell you that we did have a close similarity to the Fey Folk? Fairies and such, they are the epitome of magic-wielders in our society, verging between our world, the human world, and that of pure magic.

"I don't recall much about them, but I'm sure that my people never glided like squirrels...Or do you think so because of my cloak? They're made to last against the harsh weathers on land and sea, and could also be used alongside a dagger, hopefully it would work the same in Acos...Heh, cloak and dagger, as it was termed...

"But, we can't fly, if that would disappoint..."

He looked around until his sights fell on the white construct, REGIS.

"I've been wondering...Hey Reggie, could you test your healing touch on my friends and I, here?"

REGIS turned to the much smaller elf and flexed the fingers on his metal hands.

"I'S BE'S GLADS TO GIVEUNS DA HEALUNS TO YA! IFFUN YOUS WANTS, I'S CAN TESTS MY HEALUNS ON YA'S AS SOONS AS DA BELLS GIVEUNS EM BACKS TA REGGIE! REGGIE WILLS HAVES YA FEELUN GOODS IN NO TIMES AT ALLS!"

REGIS turned back towards the bell and sank down to what appeared to be a strange sitting position where all of his individual pieces rested upright on the ground. He just stared at the bell, waiting for it to activate. Most people would find it hard to determine if this action was patient or impatient. In all honesty, REGIS himself didn't even know. All he could tell you was that he felt naked and useless without his healing functionality.
