: "Hey, remember you can store things inside the cube!" he shouted, trying to get someone of the party to hear him.

Aidan heard the distinct voice of Nikolai from behind him.

He repeated the statement: "Can't we lure that thing into the cube?"

Turn 6, Day 1, ???

REGIS was minding the cube when it noticed that Nikolai suddenly dashed after the little rouge that stole his rock! This did nothing but alarm it tremendously. Nikolai kept rushing towards the creature, but slowed a little after witnessing about 2 or 3 more of the creatures, sitting just inside the fog.

Meanwhile...

Bowser tried to initiate his breath weapon, but the fires of his belly produced naught but clouds of smoke. Queen acted quickly from the Magi Zone though and tossed one of the fruits creature-wards!

The creature was bested with a measly 1 damage! It exploded into a cloud of miasma and plating. After the final foe was bested, the miasma clouds resurface and gather together, hardening into a bunch of items!

The First victory has been gained! The creatures dropped some odd colorful plates, two fruits and a plum juice.

Aidan brushed more dirt off his cloak before moving to the front, picking up the plum juice on the way.

He looked back at the rest as he sifted through the remains. "Strange, no solid remains or something resembling a skeleton. It seems that these creatures are held up by...err, magic?  And these colorful plates that aren't their armor.

"Does anyone have a feeling that the cube-thing didn't tell us much? Or perhaps, this is part of the trial?"

He sniffed the air, it was still rank from the...decomposition of the creatures. "And thank you all for your aid. I have never seen such...teamwork in helping others."

He tossed the Plum Juice in his hand, "Anyway, I think I know what our drinks are made out of now.

"Who knew that these armored creatures are made of plums?"

Shrugging, Nikolai got back to a spot near the cube. As he thought; it was a trap, and he was too slow to catch up to the little monster before it retreated to its allies' side. Now he had almost nothing to do.
: "Well, on to the next option."

Wait for Bowser to arrive at the cube, then use sneaking abilities to move behind the tree to the left of the clearing and see how many enemies are nearby. If there is only one, then charge into combat against it making use of quick movement, with a downwards heel kick to its head.

If there is more than one enemy, return to the cube.

Queen did not expect to slay the creature with a toss of fruit. Of course, it was certainly due to the help of the others - she merely dealt the final blow. Still, killing was something she had always relied on others do to for her. In a way, it was... satisfactory.

"Who knew that these armored creatures are made of plums?"

: "Get the feeling that is not the case. Some other force is at work here. Like we're being rewarded for rewards' sake, not gathering remains."

Queen looked over to Sadie and noticed she was slightly wounded, but not enough to hinder her. She would probably be fine for now.

: "Hm... what are these, now?"

Queen grabbed the red-colored plate dropped by the enemies and examined it closely.

"And thank you all for your aid. I have never seen such...teamwork in helping others."

"It was the least I could do to maintain the balance of life, my new Elven friend." Sadie says placidly.

...

"Also, I couldn't let a Silvus Dryadlum be hurt before I had a chance to experiment on him. Bwoohahaha."

She replies, in a meaning to be spooky voice. You think she might have been trying to tell a joke. She even added an evil laugh on the end. It was a joke, right?

....

Sadie poked her wound experimentally. It wasn't that bad...it still hurt. She turned toward the loots.

"Hmm. What is this? It matches my favorite color...which is blue...like my skin...and the ocean...though the Blue coloration is actually just a light absorbing effect of the sunlight passing through water, not an inherent tint..."

Despite her ditziness, Sadie was quite brilliant-her analytical mind began to work at furious speed. She began drinking the plum juice from her inventory while she worked.

Action: Examine the Blue Plate with a scientists eye. Drink the plum juice from my inventory to make room/quench thirst.

"Buh...wha?..." Bowser stammered, as no flames came forth. Before he could recover and claw the creature, it simply exploded right before his eyes when hit by a thrown fruit. "Gah! It's not fair! I coulda had him! My fire was working just the other day." Bowser grumbled to no one in particular. Muttering under his breath, he lumbered back to the cube to deposit the fruit he had gathered. He also experimented with his fiery breath, trying to get it to work again on the way. After depositing the fruit, he'd try to pick up the cube, to see if it could be carried along with them, instead of backtracking frequently.

As if remembering something, the youth gave a short whistle.
: "Hey, there are some creatures near the clearing. They don't seem friendly."

Turn 7, Day 1, ???

Everyone felt the horrible emptiness in their bodies grow larger.

As Nikolai tried to retreat away from the foes, they leapt with haste unseen! Nikolai's nimbleness simply wasn't enough to outrun the foul creatures. Nikolai tosses a little, but grows still as he sees a hulking monster in the fog, staring back at him with those hollow... Gas filled... Hollows.

Nikolai manages to keep his spirits up though, and keeps struggling as the creatures tug at his arms and leg.

Bowser left the group to move back towards the Cube to store the fruits. The others stayed behind and checked out the mysterious plates that dropped:

At first glance, the plates look like simple metal, but further study and even touching the surface reminds one of simple stone. Each of them seem to hum with some sort of force, giving off a slight rumble once in a while. They seem... Important, somehow.

Besides that, they seem entirely featureless.

: "Hm. Should probably keep these. Very useful-looking."

Queen pocketed the red plate.

: "Should we not continue further south after depositing what we will in the cube?"

((...))

Nikolai frowned mightily.
: "Ah, great."

...Use Quick Movement to get free from the monsters, getting one on the top of the head with the downwards heel kick.

Action: Sadie pocketed the Blue plate, aburptly began chowing down on a Spirer fruit

She nodded toward Queen, speaking between bites.

"I agree... *chew*

And it may sound slightly self serving,  *chomp* , but I believe we shoud locate a source of drinkable water.*gulp* "

Bowser's grumbling over his inability to breathe fire trailed off as he got closer to the cube. Another one of the humans managed to get himself into trouble, and was surrounded by several of the monsters. "Blast, another pink skin picking a fight." Bowser muttered. "Hey, shiny butt! Get in there and help the human!" He shouted to REGIS. Bowser barreled for the creatures surrounding Nikolai. If he can make it, he'll do a Slam charge Assault on one of them.

Nikolai frowned even more as Bowser approached. No way in hell he wanted the help of the guy who always lost to Mario and wasn't renowned for his smarts; he was sure that at the very least escaping the creatures by himself wouldn't be a problem, since his body was flexible and the martial arts training had to be worth something in a time like that.

His frowning face subsided into his normal poker face as he sighed. Whatever the big Koopa wanted to do while running towards Nikolai at high speeds, it would probably include running over him as well if Bowser charged the monsters grappling the human. In answer to that, he simply got back to trying to set himself free before he was smashed by his huge and clumsy ally.

And who had the shiny butt? He just hoped Bowser was addressing the robot.

"NIKOLAISUN!"

Before Bowser's words could reach him, REGIS charged into combat, taking aim at one of the creatures holding Nikolai.
