Sadie slid through the cold, dark sea easily-her vision taking in the majesty of her home waters. She supposed she would never get tired of them, no matter how far she had travelled, and who se she met...from the beautifully refractive Icebergs of the Northern Atlantic (Polar Mermen were friendly) , to the rank and think floating vegetation of the Florida Everglades (Lizardfolken were amazingly good land-cooks), to the eternally rich, brown soup that was the Amazon river (Pink Dolphinmen had excellent senses of humor). It was all so amazing...
Still, there was something to be said of home-from a Human perspective, she lived in the Northwest Pacific Coast-close enough to Seattle she sometimes swam there to enjoy the nightlife-they had such good seafood, after all. Despite her worldly travels, she still checked in home often, observing the habitats she had tended in her youth.
And today, something quite interesting...a particulalry Giant Squid had taken up residence in the deep trenches, and she was eager to study it. Maybe even commuicate with it-her race had short range telepathy, usually between each other, but she could send simple words and phrases to aquatic animals.
Well, the first part didn't go well at all. She had a small discussion, transcribed below.
Hello! Tired. Sick? Annoyed. Sad. Hungry. Food? Yes. Where? You. Who? Food. Umm Yes. Me? FOOD.
...Sadie swam as fast as her fins could take her. Sadie couldn't really blame the Squid for wanting to devour her, but it would still have been very rude. Sadie became afraid, and felt the first pangs of exhaustion-and the creature surged forward eager to snap her up...
Well, she knew almost every small cave and bolthole around these parts, but the one she found was new-it was a perfectly square hole, which she might have recognized as carved if she wasn't running for her life. It was also lit with an odd glow, which normally might have given her pause, but today she took it as a blessing-as she squeezed in, one of the deadly tentacles wrapped around her tail, but she wriggled free, delving into the cave as deep as she could in a panic. Sadie was just beginning to relax, when she felt a strong, unnaturalt current drawing her forward. Between an unknown torrent and the waiting beak of the Squid, all choices were bad...but, she couldn't have fought it anyway, and it drew down...and down...and down...
...
She wakes up. Something lets her go...and she finds herself gasping in open air, flipping about with her tail helplessly, the suns horrible glare burning her eyes. Whatever had happened had taken her from the wet ocean to the dry land in the space of heartbeat, without allowing her a chance to acclimate-she panicked, like a person dunked under water who didn't have chance to catch a breath.
Sadie vaguely made out shapes around her-very odd shapes-but was in too much fear to do anything about them now. She concentrated on changing to her land-based form, hoping this was all a bad dream. A very...bad...dream...
The changes were coming, but she had to get away-Sadie left the pedestal she was on and began crawling away. Most of them were probably land-dwellers...and while she sometimes struggled to understand them and help her people understand them, Sadie knew they were often
dangerous. Was one of them approaching her, or was that just a trick of perspective? Eeeek!

OOC: The transformation thing is just RP right now-she can breath and walk, and usually transforms by now, and will do so soon. She's honestly just panicked over the quick change in atmosphere.
