"Hrm." Dell looked thoughtfully at the locked door. Hey big guy, I don't suppose you could pull the lock off? Or," He amended, "The entire door?"

"EVENS IFFUN REGGIE COULD, I'S THINKS IT'S A BADS IDEAS. ITS MIGHTUN BE TRAPUNS IFFUN WE'S DON'TS OPENS THE DOOR WITHUN THE KEYSUN. REGGIE THINKUNS THE KEYS IS SOMESWHERE NEARBY. WE'S SHOULDS EXPLORE THE OTHERS DOOR. MAYBES WHEN WE MEETS UPS WITH THE OTHER GROUPUN, THEY WILLS HAVEUN THE KEY TO THE DOOR?"

"Gears? Oh, I wasn't ever a fan of machines."

REGIS fell silent for a moment, then his arms drooped.

Sadie frowned.

"Umm...this is tricky to explain...

Regie, you are are a machine, yes-but you are also sort of a person. You help people. In my world, machines aren't intelligent enough yet to do the things you do. I call you a friend because you're a good person. You have um...a soul. Of a sort.

The machines I don't like..."

Sadie paused, trying to find words.

"...they just hurt people. Harpoon launchers, machien guns, depth charged Bombs, missiles, rockets, oil drills, painful sonar pings, drowning net machines. They're horrible. They only kill and hurt. There's nothing good about them.

The Humans...Humans use them to attack families like mine, usually because other Merpeople have hurt their families, usually because someone hurt them. It's a cycle of violence sadly prevalent on my world. I know I shouldn't blame the machines, cause they were only built to do that. But...I don't like them.

But you're different Reggie. You're not...a weapon. Or, you have weapons. But you can choose not to use them. You have a choice, which makes you different than just a machine, or a weapon.

I hope I didn't hurt your feelings."

"Interestin' viewpoint you have there Sadie." Dell noted as he studied the wall. "Though I'll say that, bein' a purveyor of such mechanical marvels, that I'm a tad affronted, though I can understand your position. I tend to hate the man behind the gun rather than the weapon, guns havin' no minds and all." Dell grinned. "I'd also ask that if you had a choice, between usin' a machine on things or watchin' people you know be mowed down by said critters, that you'd put said hesitatin' away, if only for a while."

REGIS took one step through the doorway, then turned to look over his shoulder.

"IFFUN WE'S GOINGS TO PROCEEDUN, WE'S NEEDS TO TRUST EACH OTHERS, AND HELPUN MAKES EACH OTHERS STRONGER. REGGIE IS TRUSTUN YOUSE ALL TO KEEPS DA CLEAR HEADS. HEHE. ONLY WAY TO GO'S IS FORWARDSUN."

REGIS then proceeded to the next room.

"I trust you all with my life, just to say once more. 'If one can fight with another and defend both himself and his friend, then you have a friend that will help you in a hundred battles' or so I recall a saying."

He looked at Sadie with a cheery face, "We're all in this together, no ill will dividing us even if the Reaper rears his ugly head! A weapon can be a shield, to defend as well as to attack, it depends on how you see it...

"You also sound different, anything bothering you?"

[Dwarmin]

"Oh, Aidan...I've been thinking about my home, lately. My sister...

I mean...I know we'll get through this, I know we will.

But, then we all go Home. And we'll never see each other again.

It's just a sobering thought."

Aidan left the thought hanging in the air as the depth of what Sadie said sunk in.

Suppose they all made it back home. Their company may be remembered, but if what Cube said was true, then nothing in their own realities wouldn't have changed a bit. They would be seconds or moments away from what had killed them, and with only the memory of the trials in Acos, would be hard to sway whatever occurrence to their own benefit.

He stopped the thoughts of assumption and guessing and decided to keep on smiling, just to cheer up Sadie in the least.

"Then we make the most of what we have here."

[Dermonster]

"You work with the tools ya got, not the tools ya wish you had. Sometimes you just gotta find or make better tools."  Dell did a vague action to separate the sentence. "That's how engineering is done. Use the tools you have to make better tools, and use those tools to make even better. Repeat till the cows come home."

Dell shrugged. "Anyway, why are we wasting time talkin'? We've got a dungeon to defeat."

"I'll just check this wall and then tag along behind you all, go on ahead, I've a strange feeling about this."

Turn 6, Dungeon




Aidan got REGIS to take out the banana for Sadie to study, and traded the Wooden Sword for the Paste.

The others stare at the wall and tinker with the banana as REGIS departs through the eastern door.



Aidan and Dell both get a little lost in the mesmerizing clicking of the gears. They do not even seem attached to anything, they just sort of float there, clicking along.



Sadie tried to figure out a recipe with the banana, but there seems to be no results right now. Maybe she needs to try and combine the banana with something else?

Sadie gave REGIS the banana back for now.



At the other end, Team BE2 are checking out the odd paraphernalia.



Queen poked some of the ridges, who didn't press in like buttons but still lid up as they were touched!



The large circular "screen" lid up and reflected some odd details to Nikolai and Queen.



Meanwhile again, REGIS happens upon a perculiar scene.





Cora leaps backwards into the Medium Zone and pelts the foe with an arrow! It dealt 4 damage, but the foe seemed unmoved by the assault.



With haste, the enemy slipped out it's tongue again and hefted Bowser into the air! Bowser snapped out of his dread midair, but was now directly over the gaping maw of the fiend!

"SPIKESUN!"

After all that talk of teamwork and trust, REGIS just happened to stumble upon Bowser getting tossed into the air like a waiting morsel for the creature that seemed to be little more than a walking mouth. The golem shouted back so the remaining party members would hear him.

"GETS IN HERES, NOW!"

REGIS initiated a charge assault on the creature's back, hopefully in time to get it to close its gargantuan maw.

Sadie's head whipped up Reggies warning.

Without saying a word, she stood to her full height and moved to the door, bow ready.

Action: Head on in and snipe the mouthy critter!

Dells head whipped up as he heard a distinct cry for help. Without a second thought, he charged down the hallway.

Charge!

: "Hmm. Unable to decipher yet. Why don't we follow the sounds of battle?"

Queen headed to the west and initiated a CHARGE ASSAULT!

Aidan raised an eyebrow at the sudden disappearance of his friends, then heard Reggie's voice over their footfalls.

Somehow, echoes were weird sometimes.
