The odd little merchant showed his goods to the party, but REGIS immediately grew disinterested. The only weapons he needed were his fists, and food wasn't really an issue for him at the moment.

"OI, YOUSE GUYS. MEBBE WE'S SHOULD GO HARVESTUN SOME MORES TONES BEFORE WE'S GO'S ON DA SPENDUN SPREES. THERESUN PLENTYS OF MORES THINGSUN TO FIGHTUNS OUTS THERES." He turned to look at Bowser almost teasingly. "I KNOW TURTLES WANTSUN TO TESTUN HIS NEW FIERY BREATHS."

Before the golem could wander off to go fight, a thought occurred to him, and he turned to DoDo.

[EXCUSE ME, BUT HOW MUCH WOULD IT COST TO MANUFACTURE A PAIR OF IMPROVED FISTS FOR ME? SOMETHING SOLID TO CAUSE A LOT OF DAMAGE WOULD BE NICE.]

(After getting an answer, REGIS headed to the upper right to engage the two red enemies and the cannon with anyone who wanted to help.)

"I have no objections to you using it, Nikolai. It sounds horribly unsafe-for our enemies, I mean."

Sadie skipped away.

...

She then took a look at the stall, wondering.

"Does anyone mind if I buy that before we get into a fight? I don't think...I should be fighting in a melee again..." She asked, pointing to the bow, hopefully.

Action: Buy the bow with 5 tones from the vendor! (Unless someone objects). If successful or not, give my club afterwards to Aidan to free up my inventory.

: "Ah, no tones after Sadie, afraid. Good to speak with you, though, Shopkeep!"

Queen went off to face the red foes behind REGIS.

"A shopkeep eh? That's quite comforting that literally everything here isn't out to kill us, though you are just trying to turn a profit, still, better than the usual reception. Now, we need to keep the cube safe, but we also need to hunt... that doesn't seem like the right word, but I'm sticking to it, hunt down these scaly beasts for tones. So, Your burlyness, if you wouldn't mind carrying the cube around like the yester, this day might just go smoothly... but then what are plans but a list of things to not do... Charge!" Cora too runs off with Regis and Kelly. (REGGIE and Queen)

Aidan accepted Sadie's gift. A formidable club, the most basic of blunt weapons.

"Cube. Is it just me or does it seem like this place replenishes itself from an unknown source? I've never seen these many creatures around, and the trees look renewed.

"Or perhaps this is another part of the trial we've all encountered? We should be seeing houses and tracks of past heroes, judging by the fact that Cora has been here before, but I'm not seeing anything of the sort -- natural life and land, only. Anyway, will you protect the other three Uniqs around you, or do we carry you when we do move on?"

Now done with asking the nice Uniq, he moved over to the stall with Nik and Sadie.

"Strange seeing a merchant like you here. How did you survive from the creatures that inhabit this place? And...when you're done with business, where will you head?

"And...you did get those weapons from chests, right?"

Aidan noted that, for some reason, chests were scattered around the place just like yesterday. He could see the bare outline of one in the distance to the west, and wondered why someone would leave finely crafted containers out in the open without locks or any protection, other than being a container itself.

He looked at Sadie, then at Nik. "I've a feeling that we'll see many new things today."

Aidan looked up at the sky, waiting for the others to perhaps go into battle before coming alongside them.

"Huh. That's convenient. Guess we won't have to worry about running out of food then. Even if it is just fruit and paste. Ugh," Bowser said, regarding the merchant. As for the castle, he expected it to be expensive. It was more a long term goal after all, but Lift confirmed that it could be done. Anyway, it was time to hunt, and find more of the tones. REGIS, Queen (Or zelda now, why was that name ringing like a bell?) and Cora were off hunting to the north. The three of them should be able to handle whatever was up there. He decided to check out to the south, where he saw a new red enemy. But first, he grabbed the grim chest, put it in the cube's inventory, then hefted the cube himself.

"Hey fishy girl, I bet you're itching to try out your new weapon." Bowser said to Sadie. "There's a group heading north. I'm going south. How about you and the pointy eared guy come with. You can try out your new toy, while letting me handle the attacks. Besides, we gotta get some tones to pay to Lift." With that, Bowser began lumbering south, towards the red enemy. "By the way, I was wondering, you got all sorts of races on your world, got any koopas?"

Aidan agreed with the King reptilian. "Three heading north, and us three are heading south, then.

". . .

"What is a koopa?"

Bowser began lumbering south, towards the red enemy. "By the way, I was wondering, you got all sorts of races on your world, got any koopas?"

"Well, we don't exactly call them 'Koopas', but we do have something like you. They usually like to be called Lizardfolk. I thought you were Turtleperson at first, really.

Though, It seems you're quite larger and stronger than any of them normally would be-and none of the ones I know can breathe fire, either..."
Sadie responded.

"[...]and none of the ones I know can breathe fire, either..." Sadie responded.

"So that means Bowser isn't a Salamander?"

"Nope. Ain't a Salawhatever. I'm a koopa. A royal koopa specifically. Most regular ones are smaller, and they don't have spikes or horns, just smooth shells. And they don't breathe fire. Sounds like you just got the regular ones wherever you come from. So, have they managed to make a big kingdom without royal koopas there?"

"Not exactly.

Well, I suppose you would call most non-humans like me a minority. Humans rule most of the 'Kingdoms', and they usually make up the majority of people living most anywhere. Merpeople at least retained their original territories in the seas-most others suffered some sort of calamity with Humanity in the past, and were annexed, one by one...many are not exactly happy with that, even today."

Sadie seemed a bit uncomfortable on this particular subject. Violence had never been rare in her world-even in her time, Merpeople still committed acts of terrorism and sabotage against Humans who dumped garbage and toxins in their water-or overfished and took more than their fair share.

The political situation usually forced the Humans to respond in a likewise brutal matter-she had lost friends to retaliatory depth charges of their cities and homes.  Aidan and Bowser probably...couldn't understand this. Could they? Sadie had always tried to act as mediator between them, which earned her enemies on all sides. It was a lonely current she chose to swim.

: "Yeah, Bowser is a royal koopa. Raised by Kamek, the mage, hellbent on dominating the Mushroom Kingdom and/or the whole world and always kidnapping princess Peach for what seems to be just fun, because Mario and sometimes Luigi appear to spoil his party." Nikolai sighs. "I think it is a matter of status quo, I guess."

"Hey steve." You speak into the air.
>Yes?
"Could you guys also make a hamburger out of this arm when they cut it off? I wanted to eat it just for the sake of tasting it."
>That is horrible and disgusting. It will no doubt set you apart and create fear in your team mates. So of course.

While still wandering in a northerly direction, Cora was surprised by the detail in Nick's summary of The Kings life. "That's... just plain creepy..."

: "Wait, what did-"

Queen decided to stop herself. Best to talk about that after battle.

"Nevermind. Bowser, once we've come to a rest, I may speak with you private."

"For fun?! Bah! You've been listening to too much mushroom propaganda! I had you pegged as a smarter guy than that." Bowser snorted, casting a sidelong glance at Nikolai. "The truth is, my world is a perilous place. During my reign, there has been no less than five separate invasions or threats to it's existence. There was the X-naut incident, where that bloat-brained idiot thought it would be a good idea to wake up an ancient shadow demon. There was the Smithy invasion, and the Shroob attack on the Mushroom Kingdom. There was the witch Cackletta, and that mad scientist Fawful runt. There was Count Bleck, who sought nothing less than the destruction of the whole universe! And came damn close to it too, if I hadn't intervened."

"There is always something out there that wants to wreck up the place. And it's me and the Koopa Troop that often is the first line of defense. Mario always comes in well after the trouble has started. The princess and the toads would love to just spend their time idling away living in their own little kingdom and eating cake. Their response to any crisis it seems is to just cry, run and hide, or scream 'Mario save me!' If they want to hide in their shells, fine, they can. But at the very least, shouldn't they support the ones that are putting their shells between them and harm? If I'm protecting them, I should get to rule them."

"As for the princess. I've been trying to convince her of the dangerous nature of the world. Plus, Mario might not always be there. In fact, he and green 'stache were MIA during the biological attack with the Blorbs syndrome, and the rise of the Dark Star. I had to handle that alone. Really, there's responsibilities that comes with being a king, or in her case a queen. She can be a cunning one when she decides to be, her scheming had Cackletta on the ropes in fact. But she is far too reliant on those humans, she needs to learn to stand on her own two feet, or it'll be her own people who suffer." Bowser said, finishing up his rant. "Besides, she makes a damn fine cake. My royal chefs can never get it quite right."

"Anyway, you talk about status quo, human, I talk about what it takes to maintain it, and keep our world intact. And how the hell did you know about Kamek anyway?"
