Not that surprised about DPR Korea's medals.  Gold, sure, impressive, but I'm sure their athletes go through some hellish training from hell to get where they are.

Women's Fencing is quite... interesting right now. 3 double-touches in one second. I have no idea what is happening but I think that the South Korean coach is saying that the last second was already spent for the last hit. Fencing sure is confusing.

China ran away with the gold, Japan in a solid silver, UK and Ukraine shooting out for Bronze on the final rotation. Only a few tenths in it.

Both teams on strong form, UK on floor, Ukraine on rings. Comes down to the final performance from each. The UK barely takes it by 0.2 points, with pretty much everyone scoring over 15 and a few over 15.5.

Then Japan, over in the horse, completely collapse while no-one is watching. Two scores around 13.4-5. Suddenly, after the arena has already exploded celebrating the UK's silver, Japan have dropped to fourth, promoting the UK to silver and Ukraine to bronze.

Some amazing scenes, especially given it's the UK's second ever men's team gynmastics medal, with the first and only other being a bronze in 1912. Here's looking at gold in 2112.

EDIT - Only then Japan appealed one of the deductions that pushed them back. It seems one of their dismounts that was counted as not a dismount actually was a dismount. There is a stewards enquiry, but the Japanese are promoted back to silver, UK in bronze.

Semi-final match between Shin (South Korea) and Heidemann (Germany). Long but low scoring match, ends the third round at 6-6. One minute of sudden death extra time, with Shin having the advantage (eg, no score, she wins).

It goes down to literally the final second, with several double scores in the last seconds (both touch, reset and nothing changes). Shin is stuck near her back line. She takes another couple of steps backwards, she loses. She takes a hit without doubling it, she loses.

Final second, Heidemann just leaps forwards to attack. Shin takes the double touch. Then a second one. Still one second showing on the clock (there aren't any split seconds shown). Then, before it starts, the clock shows zero.

The timekeeper and ref agree to reset it to show the remaining second of time. The Korean coach is pissed off.

A third attack, this time showing a single touch from Heidemann, winning the match. Except that now the Korean coach is screaming about how long one second can last.

After some discussion the judges gives the match to Heidemann. Except that the Koreans won't accept that and push for more reviews.

Half and hour later the Korean coach is writing a (hand) written appeal right there in the arena [edit - cameras now showing him handing two hand written sheets of paper next to an abandoned judges panel]. Shin is still sitting on the still lit strip, utterly distraught. She can't leave the arena without accepting the result. If the result stands she has to fight a bronze level match very soon.

Honestly, I was surprised they had enough food to field that many athletes. Wonder how many are military personnel.

Now now, let's be honest with ourselves. While a good 80% (if not more) of North Korea is enjoying the joys of starvation as proclaimed by the Glorious Leader in the name of the Glorious Leader, they certainly have enough to feed people who they care about. I wouldn't be surprised if they got a couple more medals later on.

This weightlifting thing is really gross.  This is obviously not something human beings were meant to do, every time somebody lifts a weight it looks like his body's about to just blow apart.
