I'm bored. I want to slap at things and watch pretty explosions and increasing numbers. An engaging storyline is beneficial, but in no way necessary. I also need help, because of the heat. Can't think in this god damn heat.

All in all what I'm looking for is:

- Old. My laptop is bad and games made after 2006 are probably not going to run, although feel free to recommend games from this decade, for posterity and the unlikely future in which I get money for a better pc.

- WASD controls if possible. Think Enclave (though I might be one of the three people on this earth who have played it), or Orcs Must Die! Again, not necessary, but preferable.

- Action! I want action. No pure rpgs like Baldur's Gate or even Icewind Dale. I know enough games in this genre to last me forever, I just feel too stupid for one of those. FPS RPGs work, if they're more FPS than RPG. I've played VTM Bloodlines, Deus Ex and System Shock 2.

- Diablo clones are fine, but I probably know all of them, at least in the timeframe I can play.

- On the PC.

Depths of Peril has some interesting gimmicks that set it apart from the usual Diablo clone. I was really hoping for a sequel, it was one of the few Diablo clones with depth outside of stat crunching.

Dungeon Defenders! If you like Orcs Must Die then you're going to like this one as well. Having friends to co-op it with makes it a lot more fun though

My number one recommendation for requests like these is Iji. Hits most of your points: It runs fairly well on older computers, lots of action and pretty explosions, a storyline that (imho) was very well done, and the RPG elements are fairly basic. The only downside is that it uses the arrow keys instead of WASD, but they might be rebindable.

Enclave was awesome, had a lot of fun with that one. Think I've played through it three times by now.

Rune perhaps? It's old I guess (same engine as unreal tournament IIRC) but was pretty fun. Less of an RPG and more jumping around murdering things.

Severance: Blade of Darkness is another older game, I mostly remember it for being difficult as hell.

I guess you already played mount and blade.

Those are the only ones I can remember of the top of my head. Maybe dark messiah of might and magic too?

Thinking of maybe replaying Rune, or possibly the new(ish) Bard's Tale.

I really just want Enclave 2, is that so much to ask?

Get a Gameboy emulator and find a rom of Final Fantasy Adventure.

Maybe that's too low tech for what you want to play....but it was the first thing that popped into my head when you asked for ACTION.

You've probably already tried it, but my go-to recommendation is Titan Quest. The plot is nothing groundbreaking, but decent esp. if you like Greek mythology. Planning your build is important, but there's a megaton more options than standard Diablo fare. Dungeon Siege I and II also may fit the bill.

On a more unrelated note, The Ur-Quan Masters definitely has an RPG-ish feel, but it's a large scope spacewar style game. There's much more shooty than casty, but you can certainly upgrade your flagship into a molten plasma spewing death machine. Awesome story, too.

Finally... I'll suggest X-Men Legends I and II. I know I've played them on a PC, but they're probably hard to find and the controls will be clunky as hell if you don't have a gamepad. Still, they're fun enough and my friends and I enjoyed them greatly.

I'm starting to feel a strange, unspecific guilt at wasting my childhood, because I've played everything suggested so far, except for X-Men Legends (but I don't have a gamepad) and Final Fantasy Adventure, though that really doesn't look like my cup of tea from the footage I youtubed.

Morrowind and Daggerfall may work for you, though they're more RPG than action. If you've not tried Mount and Blade its action is pretty similar to Enclave.

We really need more games where you can headshot people with bows.

I assume you have played Fate and Torchlight to death? Both run very well on older equipment.
